You only need all of Link's Lv.3 weapons to unlock...
-
Good point. And I hope you're right, as words cannot describe how hyped I am for that SNES style F-Zero course! And all we've seen of it so far is this: Seeing it in motion/playing it is probably going to make me pass out.
-
I still can't get A Rank on the stage that unlocks the Lv.3 gauntlets. KO's and Time are no problem at all, but I always take a bit too much damage because of bloody Argorok.
-
Yeah. Pretty strange how that option was removed. Love Villager's expression in that last pic.

I've now copied all of my retail game save data to the HDD, and also copied over my eShop version of MK8. When you copy data it gives you this message: Interesting. But at least this way if my HDD goes tits up I'll still have completed/recent save data on the system memory as a backup. And if my Wii U breaks I'll have a useless backup in the form of my HDD. Such a bizarre system Nintendo have got going with save data on the Wii U, really hope they can sort things out for the next system. If cloud storage isn't an option then we should at the very least be able to easily backup and (more importantly) restore our saves using a USB device.

Just to clarify, the problem appears to be if you have save data on the system memory, not on a HDD. So far it seems that everyone using an external HDD gets automatic updates as intended, but those of us with save data on the actual system memory have to manually update software. Very strange. You'd think it would work with either option. In fact, I'd expect it to work better with the system memory.
-
The majority of saves on my system memory started out there, as I didn't have a HDD until quite recently.I've manually moved a couple to the system memory since getting a HDD though, but now I'll probably just copy the data (for some titles) instead. It's such a shame we can't separate save data from software/patch data.

Taking out the final boss with Epona is pretty damn entertaining!:

Those that check out the Hyrule Warriors thread have probably seen that I had some trouble getting the recent update/DLC to install on my Wii U, and I've come to the conclusion that standby functions don't work correctly with data stored on the Wii U's system memory. It seems that for people who store their save data on an external HDD, the update was automatic, but anyone who saved their data on the system memory needed to manually update. So yeah, I'm now thinking about moving or copying some of my save data to the external HDD (like MK8 and Hyrule Warriors) to see if the next batch of DLC installs automatically. At the moment I have my saves (for physical retail games) on the system memory, and almost all of my DD/eShop stuff (bar MK8 and SMK) on external HDD. Anyway, just curious as to how everyone else on N-E goes about storing their save data, so if you're a Wii U owner then please take part in the poll. Would be great if people could post whether they've had any problems with standby functions based on where they save their data too, as I'm not completely certain about it. So if anyone has successfully received automatic software updates via the Wii U system memory, then please let us know! : peace:

Cheers.Just as I suspected then, it seems like the standby functions of Wii U don't work very well (or even at all) with the system memory. Think I'm going to move my Hyrule Warriors data to my HDD, see what happens when the next DLC update gets released. Fingers crossed that it is, keep us posted.

Hard drive is connected via a Y Cable, but it's definitely not an issue with the drive. Like I said before, my Hyrule Warriors save data is on the Wii U system memory, so the download should be, and was, going to that location. The problem came about because it was taking quite a while to download/instal, and in that time my external HDD was going to sleep. Which again, shouldn't have caused a problem because it wasn't even being used for this update. I'm now getting the feeling that standby connection actually works better with external storage than with the Wii U's own system memory. Dazzybee's was on external HDD (and I'm assuming yours is as well) and downloaded without a problem. Mine is on system memory (and perhaps Mokong's) and it didn't download. Maybe I should just move all of my save data over to the HDD then.
-
Cheers. @Mokong, how about you, what's your Hyrule Warriors data saved on?
-
Dunno, I never heard about it before. 309 MB. Because the feature is borked.
-
Lucky you. BTW, is your Hyrule Warriors save data on the Wii U system memory, or on an external hard drive?
-
Fucking hell, Nintendo. Not impressed at all. First of all, Standby functions on the Wii U simply do not work. Or at least not on my system. I thought it was strange how I've had to manually update software ever since the introduction of standby connection, but heard it was due to it not being compatible with older titles that predate the feature. Well, this isn't an older title, yet it still doesn't update automatically. So, I go to update manually, and what happens? This happens: And not once, but twice! The error message said "The USB storage device has been disconnected", interesting I thought, seeing as it hadn't. But even more so because the destination of the update was the bloody System memory!: Eventually I realised that my external hard drive was shutting down while the update was installing, and this was (for some inexplicable reason ) causing the Wii U to crash. In the end (and after some Googling) I had to disable the sleep feature of the hard drive by going into a hidden option (and God only knows why this is hidden) in the Wii U system settings (accessed by holding down on the D-Pad and the +/- buttons) and then on the third attempt the update installed correctly. But yeah, if the hard drive wasn't being used for shit, why in the hell was it effecting this update? Absolutely ridiculous. I almost didn't feel like even playing after spending so long trying to update, but I just gave it a go, and yeah... Epona is mental. So twitchy. I did one of the defeat 300 enemy levels, and it was a piece of piss.

Yeah, check out this thread: http://n-europe.com/forum/showthread.php?t=55392

Let me show you my moves! This happened tonight in an online game with N-E peeps: Very unusual for me to do something skillful like that, so I had to save/GIF it.

Smash Run is definitely an odd one. At first I was just really confused by it, then I found it boring/pretty much hated it, and now I love it! I think it's just one of those things that can take quite a while to get into, but it is a fun mode (eventually). I love the little throwbacks to previous Smash mini-games, like Break the Targets! and Race to the Finish! But yeah, it's blatantly been designed as a multiplayer experience primarily, so playing against the CPU is never going to be as enjoyable. Shame they couldn't get it running online.

Got a great new item for my Mii today: A Red Shell hat! Here it is in action: Oi, Luigi! Watch where you're stomping!:
-
Yay! Boo-urns.
-
Phew! Finally:

It really is. I'm particularly impressed with the quality of the animation. There's a lovely stop motion feel to it, which combined with the visual quality (the models look like real life toys ) makes for a truly wonderful looking game. Unfortunate how this has slipped to 2015 for us, but it should be a great game to kickoff the new year!

So near, yet so far: If I do manage it though, it'll definitely be with R.O.B., or Captain Falcon.
-
Heh. Well, I managed to get 5 KOs using that Kirby trick in the end, so no need for hammer time just yet. I was so close to beating classic on 9.0 yesterday with R.O.B. Made it to the penultimate form of the final boss, but mistimed a dodge and got obliterated. That's a bit of a defeatist attitude from someone who allegedly completed NSMB2 without losing a single life.
