Finished the main game last night, really enjoyed it. And even though I was getting killed pretty much continually throughout the entire campaign (often having to replay sections as a result) it never got frustrating, which is quite surprising. I guess the superb attention to detail and sound design helped a lot. They've created such an amazing atmosphere with this game, that you just can't help but get sucked into it. :awesome: Particularly loved the parts where you got to...

Quite tempted to get Axelay (having not played it since the early '90s) that game was pretty awesome if I recall correctly. The soundtrack definitely was, I've had this in my head for over 20 years now: That has to be one of the coolest opening tracks to a game ever. :awesome: Goddammit Konami... Why can't you be good again?
-
Well it's been a week since I started it, and I've been playing for a couple of hours every night so that's around 15 hours total, seems about right for this kind of game. Believe you me, I've not been powering through it at all. If only you knew how many times I've died... Chapter 14 was particularly painful, bloody face huggers! BTW, is it possible to see your death total anywhere? Anyway, still loving this game (despite still sucking at it ). Great moment during last night's session...

Yeah, Kirby games have always been rad in that department. Personally, I can't get enough of this: Dat easy listening. I usually spend ages checking out any new keychains I collect as a result.
-
Yeah, it's great. Only about 40% through at the moment, but it's pretty incredible how much variety they've crammed into this. I've been surprised by just how many moves some of Kirby's copy abilities have (stuff you don't even need to really make use of while playing the story mode) and the 3D effect is amazing. That laser pole item you can pick up on certain stages (which then stretches across the background and foreground) is one of the best examples of stereoscopic 3D I've ever seen. :awesome:

Cool. But what happens when New 3DS and current 3DS owners play online together? Will those that are playing on the New 3DS just have to wait for anyone using the original hardware? 'Cos that would be funny. But yeah, I ain't fussed about not being able to post screens to Miiverse, or the faster loading times. As someone that grew up playing the C64, I'm more than capable of waiting for games to load.

These are going to be more what I'd like to see, rather than actual predictions. Wii U: A big creative game. Obviously we have Mario Maker on the way, but I mean something more like the Mario Artist suite on the 64DD, combined with the game making aspect of WarioWare: D.I.Y. Basically a really vast, in-depth application where you can create 2D artwork/sprites, 3D models, compose music and create various types of games using a simplified code system like that of WW: D.I.Y. An app to finally give the Wii U Gamepad a decent workout. Animal Crossing reboot. AC is going to show up on Wii U sooner or later, but I get the worrying feeling it's simply going to be a HD version of New Leaf. I'd really like for there to be big improvements made to the customisation aspect of the game, players should be given much more freedom and control for user generated content. Visiting another town should actually feel like visiting a completely different place, rather than just a slightly rearranged version of your own town. As for visiting others, that's another area that needs an overhaul. Online traveling should be seamless, no more waiting for the train to arrive and everyone stop what your doing while someone enters the town. People should be able to come and go as they please, without it effecting anyone else. Improvement to the Virtual Console & eShop. Would be nice if they'd finally get N64 and GCN titles up, not to mention released at a steady pace. I'd also like to see a replacement for the Nintendo Network Premium programme, plus more frequent and substantial sales. Make use of 3DS connectivity. I still can't get my head around why Nintendo don't utilise this feature. It has so much potential, can be used for a variety of applications and could also be a great way to encourage additional hardware purchases. I think it's something that is going to receive a bit more focus next gen, but there's really nothing stopping them from making use of it right now, especially since the NNID was added to 3DS. 3DS: Flipnote Studio 3D. Seriously Nintendo, WTF? VirtualBoy games on the Virtual Console. This is another one that boggles my mind. Perhaps they just want to put the whole VB thing behind them, but I still reckon they should get at least a few VB games (not that there are many in the first place ) up on the 3DS eShop. New 3DS exclusive software. This is one where I'm predicting rather than hoping (really don't fancy buying yet another 3DS ). But yeah, Nintendo are surely going to have to come up with something a bit more compelling for the New 3DS when it comes to exclusive software... a port of Xenoblade really isn't going to cut it. Will be interesting to see if they do actually have a lot planned, or if the New 3DS will end up like the DSi, with just a handful of exclusive titles. And finally, a prediction that I'd love to be wrong, but pretty damn sure it won't be...

My 2015 gaming diary so far... Have beat: Resogun (PS4) Shovel Knight (Wii U) Have completed: Nothing. Really don't seem to fully complete many games anymore, which is a bit worrying. But hey, early days yet. Currently playing: Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker (Wii U) Beat this game in December, but still have some stages left to play (hopefully this will be a game I can fully complete at some point). Kirby Triple Deluxe (3DS) Alien: Isolation (PS4) LittleBigPlanet 3 (PS4)

I'll be getting it. Pretty sure lostmario will cave in too... *remembers that time he wasn't getting Animal Crossing* I've no intention of picking up a New3DS though. Not sure if that will effect online performance or not, but seeing as people say the game runs much better on the new system in general, I'm guessing it probably will.

Downloaded this tonight (needed a bit of a break from the pant filling fun of Alien ) what an amazing game! :awesome: It also provided me with a jaw dropping "next gen" moment... No, not the insane amount of stuff happening on screen (although that is obviously very impressive ) but when I was messing around with the ship editor, I noticed that the DS4 controller light actually changes to match the colour you currently have selected on screen! All of 'em! That is such an unnecessary yet incredibly awesome hardware feature. But yeah, great game. I look forward to taking on some of the N-E high scores.

Yep, I've had several already since I started playing this. The DTS setting in this game is incredible! And it makes an already terrifying game about 100 times scarier. Being completely surrounded in the various sounds while exploring, and having the floor actually tremble with the sound of the Alien's footsteps is fucking amazing. :awesome: Man, they really nailed the atmosphere with this game. And the motion tracker... Wow, so cool. I really love how you can gradually adjust the DOF with the shoulder trigger. As much as I'm enjoying it though, I've also discovered that I'm bloody awful at it! Started playing on Medium difficulty, soon had to drop to easy, and then had to drop it once again to the easiest setting! Was getting continually killed by the same groups of human and synthetic NPCs until then, despite my best attempts to be stealthy. I'm just not cut out for stealth gameplay, never have been, never will be. Hopefully I'll improve a bit as I go, and will be able to do another playthrough on Medium. Anyway, very glad I finally got the chance to play this game.

Sweet! Come on Out Run...
-
Happy.I was anyway. Smash Bros 64 style Falcon amiibo FTW!
-
It can be annoying, yeah. But I managed to search pretty much the entire first map without too much grinding. Perhaps they should have also made those items available via amiibo scans. Would be a heck of a lot more useful than 1 Rupee! Speaking of which, I got three 1 Rupee "gifts" in a row today! Not cool.
-
Indeed. It's almost half the length of the Pro Controller cable! Just about long enough for my setup though.
-
Yeah, I just liked the fact I could use the same USB cable for the Wii U Pro Controller and DS3. No big deal, first world problems and all that.
-
Thanks for that. Does the gigantic light on the controller also indicate battery life somehow? I guess I could just read the manual, but who does that when they get a new toy!? Must say, I'm kind of annoyed they changed the USB connector. More bloody cables...
-
It has arrived. LOL @ me trying to find the power button. Very sleek looking system, perhaps too sleek. Currently doing the system update...
-
I plan to go all out and play it in surround sound. Hopefully that won't cause me to have a heart attack.
-
Huge fan of the first film. The rest... not so much. So yeah, think I'm really gonna enjoy Isolation. Don't have plus (still got the 30 day trial @Hero\-of\-Time sent me back when I bought the PS3 ) I probably won't get that sorted until The Tomorrow Children arrives, but we'll see. It does indeed look pretty spectacular, I'll focus on Alien and a bit of LBP3 for now though. Would prefer to get the retail version anyway, which seems to be around 20 quid online.
-
Must be nice going straight into the definitive version of this game. Kind of wish I didn't get it on PS3 now.
-
Should be making a start on this soon, looking forward to pooing my pants.
-
Got the black one with LBP3 (which is handy as that's another game I wanted to check out), also ordered a copy of Alien for £20.

Video: Hacker Allegedly Shows Hidden Duck Hunt amiibo Data in Super Smash Bros. for Wii U Can't wait to see how the DHD amiibo turns out, they better have used clear supports for it though!
