  1. I tip my hat to anyone that gets the platinum trophy on this, it must be a nightmare to get through the entire game (especially the last few stages) on RAD Mode. Starting to wonder if I'll even be able to unlock RAD Mode. Finally manged to do all the tricks yesterday, but some of the challenges where you need to work specific tricks into a level-long combo are brutal! The difficulty makes it even more addictive though, this is the perfect "just 1 more go" game.
  2. I find those Wystones pretty annoying to use really. Not sure if they level up more so that they last longer, but at the moment they always seem to run out at the worst possible time for me. Probably just down to bad timing on my part though.
  3. They get introduced on the 9 star urgent quest against Apex Seregios if I recall correctly. And then upgraded to Lv 2 after completing one of the 10 star quests, I think. I got the Lv 2 versions recently but can't remember which quest it was.
  4. Good stuff. Liking the look of this one, similar vibe to The Swapper, which was pretty awesome.
  5. The Meownzer tank! Yep, that's another great team attack. There's actually a surprising amount of depth to the Palico system in this game, lots of interesting combinations you can do when setting 1st Stringers. :awesome: I've got 5 of each of the different palico types too (the island is pretty packed ) so can set up all of the 5 star Forte Skills.
  6. Hehe! They've got better gear than me! My main Palico has a high rank Seregios weapon (think his attack is 450ish) and his usual companion has the hammer from the latest DLC quests (the one with 35% affinity! :awesome:) and they're both wearing that giant Felyne mask. Also both at Lv. 30, which I think is the max, but not sure. The level has turned red though, so I'm guessing it is. It's so damn funny watching them take on giant monsters together, that attack when they grab on to a monster's face and start punching the crap out of it gets me every time.
  7. Don't think anyone would want the game to be single player only, I certainly wouldn't. But I can definitely see an appeal to the single player aspect of the game, so I also wouldn't want them to ditch that entirely either.
  8. I get what you're saying, but the core gameplay/objective is identical. I could understand thinking the early offline quests were mundane, but the tougher monsters? No way! Ain't nothin' mundane about taking on those things by yourself, unless of course you're like some MH Pro that's insanely good at the game. But if that's the case, then surely the challenge is lessened even further when playing with others. Anyway, it's all good as long as you enjoy a certain aspect of the game. In fact that's one of the things I think MH does particularly well, working on different levels so that players can enjoy the game in a variety of ways. You can either hardcore it up and go for the best gear/toughest monsters, or go all casual and faff about with some cats.
  9. Yep, no Kirby for me at launch then. Hopefully means I'll be able to pick it up a bit cheaper at some point.
  10. I take it Gogmazios is exclusive to the online mode? Doesn't seem to be on the caravan quest list. Anyway, since doing the "final" caravan quest I've hunted Molten Tigrex, Savage Deviljho and Gold Rathian, all of which were incredibly epic battles. :awesome: Have hit a brick wall in the form of the latest urgent quest though, against Fatalis. What a bastard that thing is. Are the 10 star caravan quests the equivalent of G Rank, or are they just slightly tougher high rank monsters? @kav82, I'm amazed by how much you dislike the single player, it's almost as if you're talking about a completely different game!
  11. Credits have now rolled on Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate. The finale was so peculiar and pretty anticlimactic compared to the rest of the game, didn't really feel like I was even involved in the final hunt. Overall I enjoyed MH4U, but as I've said a million times already, would have preferred to play it on Wii U. Also cleared all levels on OlliOlli 2 a few days ago, so that's another game to add to the diary for March.
  12. Yeah, mouse & keyboard controls are great, but I don't mind the controller setup either. In fact I did most of my playthrough of the original game with a gamepad, despite it being the PC version.
  13. So this is out tomorrow, but I'm still not sure whether to get it for PC or PS4. I understand that the level editor isn't going to be available at launch, but will it be exclusive to PC? Kinda tempted to get the console version, but don't want to miss out on the editor when it does arrive.
  14. Ahahahahahahaha! That's a good one. Yeah, crouching is effective at getting rid of it alright...
  15. I have really high hopes for this game, the style is amazing and the gameplay also looks super fun. But it's actually the soundtrack that I'm most excited to see hear more of. Love the track from the initial reveal, here's a pretty sweet cover of that BTW: Audio But it's the music in the single player trailer that's got me on the hype train: Audio Such a bonkers mash-up, but it works incredibly well. Fantastic stuff, and just about the coolest VG tune I've heard in a long time. :awesome:More like that in the game please!
  16. Those quests can be sent and received via StreetPass right? I reckon that's probably the best/only way to get a good set, although it obviously doesn't help if you're in a bad location for SP hits, and still very much down to luck. Insanity. My highest set is just over 300 def. Think I could probably make a better set for defense using random parts, but I'm liking Attack Up XL too much. For me the worst thing by far is still the fact it's on 3DS. So damn uncomfortable to play, and it'd just be a way better experience on a big screen. Not saying there shouldn't have been a portable version, but having the option like with MH3U would've been ideal. Anyway, I think I'm at the penultimate 9★ story mode quest now, have to hunt a...
  17. Yeah, awesome game once you get into it. :awesome: The fact that momentum is pretty much automated means you can just concentrate on tricks and timing, which is great. I am increasingly worried about wearing out the left stick on my DS4 though. Developers missed a trick (LOL) by not mapping ollies to the D-Pad, or at least offering the option to recalibrate the controls. Mind you, that would've made inputting the trick commands more difficult, and I still can't get those double rotation tricks to work, even using the analog stick! Anyway, definitely recommend everyone on PS+ check this game out. : peace:
  18. For the Palicoes, yeah. They've been available since launch.Or are there ones for the player characters too? If so I have no idea, not seen 'em.
  19. Loving OlliOlli 2. Once you get to grips with the controls, it's a lot of fun. The visual style also reminds me of Tomena Sanner, which is cool. And some of the wipeouts are hilarious, as seen here when I jump off a ramp way too early:
  20. Just did my 3★ Gathering Hall urgent. HR 4 GET! But man, Dah'ren Mohran was so far away from the ship when I killed it (like right on the edge of the map) that I couldn't get all the damn carves! That'll teach me to be so awesome.
  21. Cheers guys. Will look into getting the hammer made up at some point, should be a good combo with Mega Dash Juice. Not looking forward to taking on Seregios again though.
  22. But I mean in general, the situation at Nintendo right now is simply atrocious. I don't understand how such a large and experienced company can get into this kind of state and seemingly do nothing (or just work at an incredibly slow pace) to try and turn things around. Days, weeks, months, hell even years go by... but the fans are still waiting, still disappointed, or worst of all for Nintendo, moving away from their products.
  23. I've given up wondering about that now, it's reached a point that's beyond ridiculous.
  24. I've got my White Cat Stamp upgraded to the Black Cat Hammer now (572 Attack, 300 Para, 25% Affinity) just 2 more upgrades to go. The maxed out version looks rad (1040 Attack, 400 Para, 30% Affinity). Even as it stands it's pretty awesome, and when you get a good rhythm going the combos are amazing. The other day I took out Great Jaggi in a single attack sequence: Standard combo > paralysis. Hammer to the head > KO. Even more hammering > paralysis again. Few more hits > dead. Poor little Jaggi couldn't move, call his mates, nothing. I know it's just Jaggi, but it's always hilarious. Anyway, these Seregios weapons that apparently sharpen themselves when you roll, how does it work exactly? Do you just need to roll once to fully increase sharpness, or is it a gradual thing? I recall the in-game text saying you wouldn't need to use whetstones with them, which seems pretty cool. :awesome:
  25. Man, that is messed up.Just when you think the amiibo situation can't be handled any worse...
