This moment in the vid above almost killed me: You still playing @ThePigMarcher? I'm currently up to the 16th floor (or was it 17th? Can't remember now ). But yeah, still really enjoying this a lot, in fact it's becoming one of my favorite games of the year! Just cannot believe how much depth there is to it for a F2P game! Don't see myself ever needing to purchase Death Metals either, although I feel a bit guilty now for having already gotten 20+ hours of entertainment out of the game for nowt. Will wait and see how much the 30 day express pass ends up going for once it's finally available in the PS store, and probably get that instead. Anyway, I unlocked the 3 star fighters the other day, so currently training up a 3 star Striker before attempting whichever floor it was I got up to last time. Things can go wrong very quickly now though, with high level Haters all over the place that can practically one hit kill you!

I still haven't got around to getting builders on PS4, so if it did end up coming to Switch I'd probably wait a bit more and just get it for that instead. Definitely seems like a game that would be nice to play on the go, and like you say, a great fit for the platform.

Had yet another hilarious moment on this when going for the black coins on W4-1. Only needed to grab the last black coin, which is situated in a very awkward position close to the door that leads out to the flagpole. Anyway, I messed up and before I knew it Mario was heading towards the door (once you go through there's no way back, even with the bubble) at which point it was as if time was in slow motion with me literally shouting out Nooooooooooooooooo! Such a shame the majority of people that play this game will probably miss out on experiencing those kind of moments, due to just playing through once and being done with it. I mean the standard game is still fun, but it's nothing compared to how enjoyable and ultimately rewarding it becomes when going for all the coloured coins.

Holy crap, the black coins on World 3-3! Definitely the most challenging and fun set I've collected so far. Amazing stuff. I seriously love how acrobatic Mario is in this game, it reminds me of the first time I saw his crazy new moves in Mario 64. Would really love to see some of this stuff carry over into Mario Switch, the extra input on landing especially, although it's a very simple thing, it just feels so great to do.

Collected all of the purple coins. also expanded my Mushroom Kingdom to what seems to be the maximum size. Time to try and get all those super tricky black coins now. BTW, is this really it for N-E Mario Runners? Pretty sure there are a few more playing, right? I know the system sucks, but share those codes people!

Yeah, and despite my attempt to avoid collecting tickets beyond the max, I still got caught out by the limit. Earlier on I unlocked the big question block decoration for my Mushroom Kingdom, so I decided to tap on it (thinking it'd only give me a few tickets, if any) and BOOM! 50 tickets! Had around 80 at the time. I tried to do this but there's never a name in the top right of the screen. Would be unbelievably stupid if it has been cropped out on the iPad. As the stationary part at the bottom of the screen in the iPhone version is pretty much completely missing on iPad as well. *EDIT* Never mind, turns out tapping on the Mii works too. In fact, it appears to have disabled the ghosts permanently! :awesome: They still appear for a few seconds at the beginning, but then fade out. Just unlocked all the characters! There's a surprising amount of new items appearing in the kingdom building section too. Really enjoying this game.

I just finished all the standard levels myself, getting every pink coin in the process. Was a bit disappointed by the...

Sorry I didn't make it yesterday, completely forgot thanks to Mario Run. Unlikely I'll be about next week either, due to sorting out Xmas stuff. In fact I probably won't be playing again now, as like S.C.G I have lots of other games to try and get through before March. It's been absolutely awesome though, so a huge thanks to everyone that took part. Hopefully catch you all on the Switch version! : peace:

Not yet, no. But I definitely want to get it at some point. And having just seen H-o-T's post above, that might be happening pretty soon.

Played this for 3 hours last night, nabbed all the pink, purple and black coins in that time, and had 20+ goes at Toad Rally (until I was out of tickets). My stats from that session: Oh, and my friend code Player ID, if anyone wants to add me: The game is good, but there's not quite as much content as I was expecting. For anyone that's going to go for all of the coins (especially the black ones ) then this will probably take many hours to complete, but I imagine the casual audience (who this is supposedly targeting) won't really be interested in that aspect of the game, in which case it'll likely be less than an hour to finish! And considering the build feature is so simple, plus how Toad Rally is limited by tickets, I reckon there's going to be quite a lot of unhappy customers out there. Also, this game eats battery like there's no tomorrow: My iPad was practically at full charge when I started playing this yesterday, ended up on 20%! Anyway, I do like how the game plays and its emphasis on timing (not only for when and how long you jump, but also on landing and other stuff) and being stylish. The enemy leveling up thing is a nice touch too: The bubble system is a bit annoying though, with the button for it being in the top left of the screen. Would've preferred it at the bottom for ease of access, or at least an option to move it. Probably less of an issue on a phone though.

I also beat the boss on the 3rd floor last night. Was really quite easy this time, which left me wondering how I managed to mess it up so badly on my first attempt. Anyway, I've not experimented with the online raid mode stuff yet (apart from choosing a team) but looking forward to seeing what that's like later on today. Hopefully I haven't been attacked too much in the meantime. Game keeps on giving.

Man, the profit margins on that amiibo!

Yeah, with stuff like The Tomorrow Children and now this, my perception of F2P is really starting to change. Not too long ago I considered it a repugnant and exploitative addition to the gaming industry, and the quality of such titles would often be questionable anyway. But now it seems things are changing quite a bit, with developers not only putting some serious effort into these games, but also doing a much better job of designing the F2P aspects so they aren't overbearing. When done correctly, it's actually a pretty great thing. It basically combines the demo with the full game, and ultimately gives the player more control over when or how much they invest in a title. BTW, I checked out the voice acting credits for this on IMDB, some surprising cast members in there, like Mark Hamill and Verne Troyer.

Ended up on a bit of a free-to-play binge on the PS4 recently (which is now set to continue with LET IT DIE), starting off with controversial perv simulator, Dead or Alive Xtreme 3. When I discovered that a free version of the game was available in English on the Hong Kong PS Store (not to mention a bunch of demos for various Yakuza and Miku games :awesome:) I decided to create a HK account and check it out. Anyway, the F2P version is the full game (if you can call it that) other than only being able to select Kasumi, and you don't have access to the casino. Apart from the volleyball and a few mini-games, it is basically nothing more than watching the girls from DoA in various bikinis (some of which can randomly explode ) doing ridiculously stupid and often hilarious things, so it doesn't take very long to finish a vacation and see the credits. The attention to detail in the character models and their *cough* movement, is impressive though, and the fact there's an entire system for creating accurate tan-lines is mental. The guys at Team Ninja must have had a right laugh making this. 90%
Next up is Hustle Kings. Not much to say about this one really, it's just pool. Looks nice though and plays well (with the exception of shaking the controller to chalk your cue, which almost never wants to work for some reason ) and it's free, so can't complain. A nice game to have installed on the PS4 for those not sure what to play moments, or when waiting for a download to finish. 90%
Next is Pro Evolution Soccer 2017 Trial Edition. Had previously played the demo for PES2017 and was planning to pick up the full game at some point, but now that a F2P version has appeared (and I've also discovered that I suck at the game by getting destroyed in online play) I'll probably just stick with this. You can play several matches online each day with what appears to be any team, and an unlimited amount of offline matches with a restricted team selection, plus there's an in-depth training mode. It's amazing just how far 3D football games have come since the good old days of ISS on the N64/GCN, it all feels so much more dynamic and natural now thanks to the improvements in physics. It also means it's much more difficult to be good though, which is a big problem for me. 90%
And finally we have Overwatch. Which unlike all the games I mentioned above obviously isn't F2P, but I was introduced to it thanks to a free weekend on PSN. Wow. What a great game! Such a diverse set of characters and playstyles really make this a lot of fun to play, even for those of us that aren't very good at first-person shooters. I love how much opportunity there is for last minute comebacks, and just how unpredictable matches can be in general. The presentation is also superb, character animation in particular is just sensational! Some Pixar level quality going on here, and that's really nice to see in a video game. Slightly annoying how you unlock the customisation elements randomly, and also quite slowly though. Also, the complete lack of single player or any form of offline mode isn't great. I mean come on, you have to be online to practice against AI?! What the hell is that all about? But anyway, with the potential for many hours of online multiplayer fun, Overwatch has been a great buy at 25 quid. 90%
It is indeed free. As for the catch, well as far as I can tell the paid content is just a way to make climbing the tower easier/faster, but there is actually quite a lot to take in with this game, and I haven't spent anything myself so not entirely sure yet. I'd definitely recommend checking it out anyway, especially if you got a kick out of the trailer. Glad to see someone else on here enjoying this. BTW, you're not alone with having eaten stuff by mistake. I've not actually made much progress yet either, only up to the 3rd floor, where I got utterly destroyed by a boss. I'm also loving the insanity of the game though, Uncle Death is a great character, as is the crazy mushroom chick. Her dialogue cracks me up every single time. Also, how cool is the representation of stamina in this!? :awesome: For those that haven't played it, when you perform attacks or sprint around, the torso of your character becomes slightly transparent, and you can see the heart beating inside, with it changing colour and getting more intense over time. Great way of providing feedback to the player without the need for another element on the HUD. Only thing I'm not too keen on so far is the load times, which generally aren't great. You spend quite a while watching Uncle Death on his skateboard when entering the tower. They mask the loading when you're returning to the waiting room with an awesome playback of every thing you did on your last run though, that's another great feature.

Was glued to this game last night, absolutely loving it! Anyone that's a fan of the Souls series and Suda51, needs to be checking this out. "It's probably the greatest game ever made". Get downloading people, it's F2P and it's awesome! Please don't let it die.

I missed the live stream so have just been catching up with the various trailers, but yeah, both Yakuza Kiwami & Yakuza 6 being confirmed for the West is amazing! Lots of other good stuff too, PaRappa remaster, Ni No Kuni II, NiOh, Gravity Rush 2, Windjammers, Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite, and LET IT DIE. The trailer for that actually had me laughing out loud. Mental! Can't wait to check it out. *EDIT* Ooh! Just seen the Nex Machina trailer, another potential winner.

I checked out the demo of this last night, all 36GB of it! Probably shouldn't have, seeing as Zero is just around the corner, but I couldn't resist. Game looks amazing and plays really well, but unfortunately the frame rate is a bit rough. Even in the mini-game sections, which are usually always at 60fps in Yakuza games, look like they're running at under 30 in this one. Really don't want to be getting a PS4 Pro, but it's kind of annoying knowing that there will be a superior version of the game available on that. Mind you, by the time Yakuza 6 comes out over here (if it even does come out in Europe) the Pro will probably be a bit more affordable by then.

My Nintendo got an update today, some new rewards (nothing great by the looks of things ) and a new look! They've redesigned the coin containers (removed the Miitomo one) and added a load of cute new interactive animations, one of which had my Mii playing SMK!: *EDIT* Hahaha! There's even one where your Mii is cleaning the coin container. Must stop pressing F5... Think I've seen 'em all now anyway.

I was really into the multiplayer for a while, but then one of the patches completely killed it. Ended up losing relics and my gameplay records for some bizarre reason, both of which really put me off playing it again.

Yeah, the shoot all targets and find 5 missing film reels.I did spend a while yesterday just diving from the highest point of the tower (love the music that plays when you're falling :awesome:) and managed to find a few targets I was missing in the process, but the last few must be very well hidden. Doubt I'd have played this otherwise either. Here's hoping for some more good PS+ stuff in December!

Finished The Deadly Tower of Monsters last night. Took about 5 hours to beat, only had 2 trophies left for the platinum, but they're annoying find stuff challenges so can't really be bothered. Game was pretty fun anyway, and I loved the retro sci-fi/B movie presentation. They did a great job at recreating that classic vibe, and it also helps to mask some of the general glitchyness of the game at the same time.

An option to mute the music would be a good start.

Decided to give this another chance tonight, and man am I glad I did. It was like playing a completely different game! Seriously, I'm wondering if the problems I encountered before were because the game hadn't completely finished downloading. Anyway, made lots of great discoveries in this just now, played alongside other players for the first time, did some challenges, and got to see what the mountains look like at sunset/night, which is actually quite stunning. Controls can still be a bit quirky at times, but nevertheless this now seems like it could be a real winner.

I was very tempted to restart my town, but in the end just couldn't do it. Got quite hooked on the little mini-games, especially the desert island one, but the super slow pace has put me off a bit now. Also looking forward to the snow!
