I would argue, without knowing too much, that standing shoulder press / overhead press hits more muscles in the entire body... but yes, bench press is one of the "big three" (squat, deadlift, bench press) and thus should not be disregarded. I'm just saying that I don't see quite the value in bench press other than being an assistant exercuse for overhead press.
-
Sure, I can add some weight to my bench press - I just don't see the point in bench press in the overall scheme of things. I only do it at the moment because I've been advised to stay off shoulder pressing because of the separation in my abs, I have trouble holding my back in this position with too much weight overhead.

Yes, the very same Shannara. I haven't read the books, not even heard of them before the show.

My girlfriend and I have started watching The Shannara Chronicles as the trailers were interesting. Over the weekend HBO released the next two episodes due to a leak so we're up to episode 4 now. I like it for what it is, good adventure-fantasy, but it certainly has some flaws. The acting is quite bad at times and the story is really basic, almost too boring and reminds too much of Lord of the Rings.

I don't note down my weights, I just remember them from time to time. I guess that's rather ineffective but I seem to do fine anyway. However, I tried downloading the FitNotes app and it seems quite good, though I never bring my phone or anything else to the gym. I'll just update the numbers when I get back. Recently I've been hitting the weights again in a more serious manner. I've gone from backsquatting 5x5 @75 kg to now 5x5 @80-82.5 kg in three weeks (two times a week) and deadlifting 5x5 from 105 kg to 110-115 kg (last 5 reps were at 115) so I'm seeing some progress though I'm not as strong as I used to be. It's nice to be on my way back, though! Also doing some bench pressing but I'm only doing 5x5 at 57.5 and can't seem to push it further. I hate that exercise, would rather do shoulder presses and the like.

Ooops! A local shop just had Pokémon OR for the equivalent of about £8 and Mario Tennis Ultra Smash for about £10 - couldn't help it, bought the two! They also had Pokémon AS and Y and Donkey Kong Country 3D for £8 but I already have Pokémon X and Donkey Kong Country Returns so didn't need them.

No, it's only for members of this gym. Also, the achievements are not so exciting - visit 5, 10, 25, 100 different centres, attend 5, 10, 25 etc. classes for each particular type of class, visit on particular days (day of December 24th and 31st for instance) or exercise every day for a year. One thing is rather nice, though. "Weeks with no breaks from training", a simple counter that adds 1 for every week you enter the gym (it just has to be once a week for it to count). That's good motivation for me at least. I had it on 25 weeks since my vacation in July but they reset it on New Year, don't know why. They don't do that normally.

Jesus, that challenge is evil! My name has 23 letters in it! Went to the gym today (my gym offers an app with achievements in it, one was to exercise today - I might not have done it if that wasn't there), just to get over a lazy ass Christmas and New Year. Did 15 minutes of biking and then intervals of 1000, 800, 600, 400, 200 m rowing (with a couple of minutes' break between).

I'll be getting The Swindle and Thomas Was Alone at that price! This is really what Black Friday sales on eShop should have been.

I find that doing goblet squats are harder on the shoulders and thus they tire before my legs give out. If you're really good, you could also do overhead squats instead of front squats. Then your abs and shoulders will burn! On a side note, I managed a new PR for 100 burpees today. 5:47. Was pretty worn after that!

This has nothing to do with Dig so if that is your sole reason for getting it, don't. It's completely different. I hated Dig, it was a waste of time and disk space. --- I just finished Heist today, 12 hours, experienced difficulty. I quite liked it! It felt a lot like old-school Worms-games (bar the insane weapons) and that was refreshing.

It was Sceptile!

So this was the big announcement... shocking.

The Arrow-part was better but the ending was meh.

Saved someone from serious back problems in the future today in the gym. He was deadlifting with a spherical back, yes, spherical!! 60-70 kg. I just said "Stop that!" to him and he put it down. Told him the problem, he was like "Thanks for telling me, it's my first time with this exercise." WHAT?! First time you should never go that heavy, and he was even doing it alone. He was young so would probably be able to handle it but better start early with the proper technique.

I've had trouble motivating myself proberly for the last months. I still try to go four times a week but since quitting crossfit, my joy of training has gone down. The gym I'm now in just doesn't have anything that is close enough to the feeling that crossfit gives me and weight training has also staled a bit since I don't really go regularly for that anymore. I'm only doing strength exercises like once or twice a week which doesn't leave room for any progress. Coupled with my groin trouble it's just not looking good for the next long period. At least I am now free of pain in the groin in my daily life now. It seemed that my legs were not equally long (about 0.4 cm difference) which together with my hyper mobility had caused me to use my body in strange ways, as my physical therapist says it.

That surprises me. Civil War is a must read for comic book superheroes fans. It's really among the best Marvel comic I've read. But I agree, the whole setting should be established in the movie, the trailer probably did a poor job with that. However, the trailer was really good, I'm really looking forward to the movie.
-
You haven't read the Civil War comic? They are using this as a background for the movie though with the twist that it's about CA's old friend, Buck. In CW, Iron Man leads a group of heroes that do not oppose to the state government and the fact that the heroes' secret identities should be made public, while CA opposes this viewpoint with another group of heroes. Actually a really good comic book with great drawings and writing. Should read it again...

Same in Denmark. In fact, in which European country does Nintendo games sell the best?

The Binding Of Isaac: Rebirth (PC/PS4/PSVita)
MindFreak replied to drahkon's topic in Other Consoles
To be fair, I have encountered a bit of lag on New 3DS in this. But other than that, I think this is either a business decision or lazyness - they don't want to redo the code for it to run optimally on the consoles. -
Ten episodes in now and I'm feeling that it should end by now. It's been dragged a bit too long the last couple of episodes and I still have three episodes left. It's a shame. Still alright but not near as good as Daredevil.
-
I've watched the first three episodes now and am intrigued. It's not as action heavy as Daredevil but it's still quite good. It's interesting how the characters come to gribs with their powers and how to use them. The story seems interesting and the main villain is menacing even at this early stage. My girlfriend is also quite hooked, perhaps more so than me, so it's also catering to that audience.
-
Then yes, we are one episode ahead. Unless it's the later part of said Batman moment? The latest episode was OK but not as good as Episode 6. However, I had completely forgotten about that villain so it was nice to see him return.

The game only sold 56,700 copies in the UK so almost nobody is playing it. I really want to get it (for Xbox360) but my girl friend has forbidden me to buy it (or anything else for that matter) this close to Christmas - because I tend to do that and thereby making it harder for others to buy anything for me. :/
-
Apparently this is out on Thursday in the US. So it might not have to be a December release over here! Edit: Ah, nope. They have changed it back in the trailer again. Damn.
