N-E Online Mario Parties (Week 27 - Waluigi's Island - MP3)
Glen-i replied to Glen-i's topic in Nintendo Gaming
A little late, but... Bloody hell, I thought those GIF's would last me throughout the entirety of MP1 at least, but I've blown through almost all of them in only 3 games! Anyway... Yoshi's Tropical Island For what it's worth, I think this is the most annoying board in the first game. The main gimmick is that Bowser and Toad swap their positions whenever someone lands on a happening space, which is more likely then you'd think. The Thwomps in the middle must be paid if you want to pass. The price starts at 1 coin, but the next person has to pay at least 1 more coin then the last person. An interesting, but risky, power play is to burn 50 coins and effectively "buy" an island. Usually, the right island is the one to buy, thanks to Boo, but this can backfire if someone moves Toad and no-one else manages to land on another happening space. @BowserBasher, @Dcubed should be free after Mario Kart tonight if you want to play then. Oh right, as a reminder, Dcubed, being the cheater winner of last week's game got to choose the next special block. He went with the Minus Block. It's red, it's a block, and it's surprisingly helpful most of the time. The Minus Block, true to its name, takes away your coins when hit. How much you lose is determined by what number you roll. This sounds like a terrible block, but when you think about how special blocks work, it's three times more likely that someone else will get it. In a weird sort of way, that makes this block the most useful one? A rare moment of niceness from someone who purposely throws Running of the Bulb just so everyone loses coins only because he can afford to lose coins! -
Next Theme Night Each GP will have a different set of items. What are they? Pffft! As if I'll tell you, you'll just have to figure it out on the night, won't you? This next bit is important now. If we do a fourth GP, I want everyone to choose GCN Baby Park. Probably gives away the idea, but this particular idea setup will likely get old after one race, so I'll be bailing the room after we do. Trust me, you wouldn't want more then one race with this nonsense.

This week, Saturday falls on Christmas Eve. While I'm up for Smash pretty much any weekend, not everyone is as "cool" as I am. So, @S.C.G, @Ike, and @BowserBasher, are you free then, or maybe Friday would work better for you? Of course, I don't mind if you just can't make it this week.

Are You Ready For Nintendo's Next Console?
Glen-i replied to Hero-of-Time's topic in Nintendo Gaming
Look, while I agree with you that 2022 has been one of Switch's better years for games, Metacritic isn't that good of a barometer for game quality. Critic reviews and user reviews have been known for varying wildly at times. Anyway, I'm honestly fine with Switch going on longer if good games keep coming out. I couldn't give a toss about resolution, and I'm not that sensitive to frame rate issues. I've just finished Bayo 3, and I couldn't notice any, except for one in the opening cutscene. I doubt I can afford a new console now anyway. -
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Cowabunga Collection
Glen-i replied to Helmsly's topic in Nintendo Gaming
Ah good, a logo. Much better. Sonic Mania's icon is still there though. Being crap. -
I've played both. Get Pixel Remaster. The DS version, much like FF4 DS, has had it's difficulty bumped up to comical levels, that, and the fact that you're punished for switching jobs in the 3D one makes it an easy choice. Pixel Remaster also has the better soundtrack arrangement.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Cowabunga Collection

Talk about burying the lead! This is far more important! Can someone confirm for me if it's not crap anymore? -
I wonder if this is because Erik can't use magic in DQ XI? Seems like one of those things where attention to detail overrides convenience. It's not an acceptable excuse, but it's the only reason I can think of.

Crisis Core –Final Fantasy VII– Reunion (13th December 2022)
Glen-i replied to Julius's topic in Nintendo Gaming
Nope. Not yet. I figured it would though, seeing as it developing Zack's story is half the point. Which would make it even funnier that Cloud will end up discarding the thing at the first opportunity. -

But the Buster Sword sucks. Literally any other sword in FF7 is better. Always amuses me that it's the big iconic weapon in the series, but you immediately replace it at the earliest opportunity in the actual game. -

Just popping in here to declare that I've seen the credits roll in Cuphead last night. Will save a proper post about it for when I get through the DLC. But I do want to thank @Dufniall and @Hero-of-Time for convincing me to take the plunge. It's a truly wonderful game, and I didn't resort to Ms. Chalice in the base game in the end (Although if I go chasing Expert mode, I probably will, need all the help I can get there). It also easily stands among the likes of Wonder Boy: The Dragon's Trap and PMD: Rescue Team DX as one of the most beautiful looking games on Switch.

Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack: N64 & SEGA Mega Drive (& GBA!!)
Glen-i replied to Julius's topic in Nintendo Gaming
Oh no, you don't start the game with 5HP. That's something you can do after Chapter 1. It's only something you really do when you have extensive knowledge of where the required badges are, though. -

Finish the game with 5 HP. You know you want to. Ironically, the tankiest setup in the game. -
If you're going for the physical edition, you'll wanna be snappy about it. Also, the font is still awful. Bleh!
-
Ironic, seeing as Erik ended up being the big massive physical damage dealer of the DQ XI party. Dude's a beast in that game!

Release schedule for the DLC. So, the first pack will be available on release date, then roughly every two weeks for the first pass. After that, roughly every three weeks. @Jonnas implied a while back the possibility that the last two packs will be from currently unreleased Square games, and I'm inclined to agree with him at this point. Specifically, I'm gonna bet it'll be Octopath Traveler II, and Final Fantasy XVI, which will be out by then.

Let's just say it was both of us. It was obvious you were winning that fight though. You were completely styling on me throughout. Good fights today. On one hand I got a lovely Stamina Sora finish, but on the other, I placed last as Samus... Again!
-
Sorry for the slight delay, room's open.
-
Yeah, there is. I can't remember when it happens, just keep talking to people after each run.
-
You lot did Stock the week I was unavailable, so I'm gonna jump straight to Stamina tonight at 8pm.
-
Yeah, anyone could see that they were preparing to send him off after that last season finale.
-
Nope, that Mii never updates with my Switch one and I can't be bothered to fix it.
-
Boooo! What's even the point if I can't post my absolute shame of how much time I've wasted this year!? Fine, whatever! Let's just get it done. Seems about right. @Mokong thought MH Rise would be my most played game this year. He was wrong. Hey look, it's a turd sandwich! At least there's a good Pokémon game in this post.

Saw this on the side of the main page and thought, "Wait, is this Hades?" And it was! Hades is great! The Bow is my favourite weapon, spefically the one that lets you fire homing arrows after a normal shot.
