  1. Helps that it's really bloody good! Evolves with Empty Tome? Great! Does absolutely insane damage and fires near constantly? Even better! Makes a little musical number when firing? That's the cherry on top!
  2. Hah! You thought I was going to talk about Gen 4? You foolish fool! We're not done with Gen 3 yet! Because if the likes of Legends and Let's Go count as mainline games, then the Gamecube RPG's totally count. Pokémon Colosseum and Pokémon XD take place in Orre, a mostly desert region that's inhospitable to wild Pokémon. The games have a heavy focus on Double Battles, so Colosseum didn't really give you a choice of starter Pokémon, but it does give you two. Espeon (ESS-pee-on) and Umbreon (UM-bree-on) were the latest evolutions of Eevee at the time, and just like all of the others, are thoroughly mid. In a game with severely limited options for moves, these two Pokémon are effectively dead weight. Umbreon, especially. That thing is dreadful in Colosseum. Replace it as soon as you can! Of course, these are notable in that they're already evolved and have levels in the mid-20's, but not having a choice of what Pokémon you want kind of sucks, so Pokémon XD addressed that with... Eevee (EE-vee) is what you start the second Orre game with, so while you don't have an initial choice, you eventually do get a choice of what to evolve it into. Problem is, they're all kinda lame, and only Jolteon and Espeon are even worth considering in XD. You'd likely be better off using 6 other Pokémon instead. Seriously, they're rubbish Pokémon. Coasting by purely on perceived cuteness and marketing. Anyway, that's all there is to say, really. I promise, Gen 4 will be talked about this week. Just wanted to get this side note out of the way.
  3. OK, so assuming everyone is on board (Hah!), then Friday at 9:30pm is when we'll play.
  4. Quick @Josh64! No other website seems to realise this is a thing. N-E can be first!
  5. So yeah, had a bit of a panic this morning. Game wouldn't boot up. Luckily, @Dcubed quickly told me it's not just a "me" problem. Didn't think that birthday thing would cause a problem, but here we are.
  6. Helps cut down on costs if you nick models from another game, to be fair.
  7. Player's Choice tonight at 8pm.
  8. No-one is shocked by this. Everyone was screaming to change the date, but Sega insisted they can still go toe-to-toe with Mario. A real shame, too.
  9. This has the makings of a Monkey's Paw written all over it. I am not gonna get excited for this game. They need to do more then bring Megas back to get me on board at this point.
  10. Very cautious about this. On one hand. Legends had a crap world, and a crap battle system. On the other hand, Mega Evolution's back!? OH HELL YEAH! Of course, it'll probably be tied to this game, and I bet I'll hate it. Expecting to be thoroughly Monkey Paw'd. Also, that title means it's obviously looking into that AZ dude. It couldn't be anything else.
  11. Absolutely important. I've got a crapton of games on my Switch, and it'd be nice to have them available on one console.
  12. No, you got me that neat one that's to be used in Colours! It works great there because of how that app works, but it doesn't work anywhere else. I just have that one that Mario Maker 2 came with.
  13. I tallied up the points for the impromptu Yoshies VS Charizards Doubles match and the Charizards won +1 to -1. That is all.
  14. I've played the 3DS one, that game gets super tight with time limits! Pro Controller ain't gonna cut it.
  15. For me, it all depends on how nicely it plays with the Stylus I have, which is at my house. If it does though, I'm all in.
  16. Yes, pretty much. The Pokédex entries refer to it being able to climb walls and ceilings a lot.
  17. Yeah, but Japan get Mother 3 ones as well, so we lose out even on that!
  18. Here you go. Just under half an hour!
  19. Right, theme night tonight. Let's get... Smash Done Quick No, I don't mean we're ending early. This theme is based on Awesome Games Done Quick. A speedrunning charity event that takes place at the start of every year. This year was great! A dog played through Gyromite! Anyway the characters here were all controlled by runners at one point. With the exception of R.O.B., but come on, a dog played through Gyromite! It's effectively a R.O.B game anyway. Be aware that if you pick Pokémon Trainer, you are only allowed to use Charizard. Stages and items are a bit more lenient, but follow a similar theme. Stages that are a bit vague about what game they're from are included anyway (Brinstar, Pokémon Stadium, etc.) to increase the variety. Format: Time, 3 minutes FS Meter: On See you at 7:30pm!
  20. Don't think there's a thread on this, so... This game came out on all modern platforms a few weeks ago. What is it? Well, it's the answer to the question "What if the Zelda CD-i games had actual good gameplay?" Developed by "Seedy Eye Software" (Snrk...). It's effectively a spiritual sequel to the Zelda CD-i games. So much so, that the intro cutscene is basically the story of those two games with the characters changed. I laughed so hard at this! So yes, the aesthetic aims to be as crummy as the CD-i games. Dodgy animations and weird contorting faces abound! But it doesn't feel mean-spirited, there's a real earnest quality here. The developers absolutely have a fondness for the unique quirks of this console, and it shows. I mean, they got the original voice actors for Link and Zelda from the CD-i games back to voice some narration here. As well as some of the orignal animators to help with the cutscenes. It aims to be as authentic as possible there. It's not all the same, thankfully, the key difference is the gameplay. It's a similar structure to the CD-i Zeldas, but the gameplay isn't completely awful. It's actually really fun! @Dcubed has said that the Zelda CD-i games could be decent if they weren't such janky, frustrating messes, and yeah, this game proves it. It's 18 quid, and I highly recommend it. Still gotta go for 100%.
  21. It gets a bit better for me if I imagine Shantae is dodging the silver border on the left. "ACK! Limited Run Games! That was a close one!"
  22. She should've used an actual cute Pokémon, like I did! The audience positively died from cuteness overload when Speedy the Groudon showed off his adorable Precipice Blades!
  23. Don't make him the victim, he knows what he did!
  24. They didn't have a choice. They really wanted to release it on a leap day.
  25. No, don't do that. This is Pokémon, that's a terrible idea.
