Fair point, but I did notice that some were Stamina matches. So it's not all Basic Smash.

Piranha Plant is more important than Waluigi! Also @Dcubed, you're wrong there's more challenges than WiiU. There's around 111 in Ultimate.

@Dcubed raises a good point. I didn't see any sign of Home-Run Contest on the site. But I will not have him talk smack about Incineroar! He literally has to pose after every attack. That's bloody hilarious! And Spirits Mode is basically Event mode anyway. All the fights are themed around one of the spirits. So I don't know what you're on about.

Well, for what it's worth. Whenever a kid from my community centre starts Smash for the first time and asks who I recommend, I always recommend them playing as Kirby first. He's a good beginner character, with his simple moveset and multiple mid-air jumps.

So, a few things I gleamed from the site.

Well, Duhhhh. That's common knowledge. @MindFreak I found this on the website. YAY! 6 characters for DLC! Here's some deets on how to get it with a physical copy of Smash.

Separate mode. I guess it's more accurate to say that they're two modes that are connected through the collectable spirits. Spirits Mode is a quick way of playing matches to collect spirits. Kinda like Master Orders in WiiU. Adventure Mode is the World of Light thing. You start with Kirby and progress through stages in order to rescue everyone else. The main bad guy in that is called Galeem.

The site has updated with all sorts of new items, assist trophies and the like. Gonna trawl through all of it and then update the Roster Competition thread tomorrow.

I'm not entirely sure, but I don't think so? It doesn't sound like it was. But I can't be sure.

Leak was fake! Best Sun/Moon starter gets in! RIP Isaac and Shadow. Fucking Piranha Plant though! I love everything about it. Bit cheeky making it a pre-order bonus. But with 74 characters, can't really complain. Spirits Mode is an awesome evolution of custom equipment. Will happily sacrifice trophies for that. World of Light looks totally dope! Bosses are back too! Yay! Awesome awesome awesome awesome awesome!

Sooooo... It's Smash Bros?

Probably best to keep the discussion here. One last pic of the day before all hell breaks loose. Anyway, here's the Direct. It starts at 2pm UK time.

There it is. It's just the world of gaming we live in. As soon as review copies get sent out. Everything's gonna be revealed. The one thing I think we won't get told is all the songs that are in the soundtrack. I love a lot of the Smash remixes and enjoy collecting the CD's and slowly discovering it all in the desperate hope that something from Pokémon Mystery Dungeon gets in. This time guys, I've got a good feeling about it. They're gonna put in something from GO instead, aren't they?

Smashing! Time to see whether that supposed leak is true or not. Exciting! EDIT: 40 minutes? Is that the longest Smash focused Direct ever? That gives a little credibility to the leak.

Yeesh, that's a pretty sub-standard set of games. FF7 would have been nice if it hadn't just recently got a port confirmed for the Switch. Why FF7, when you can FF7 on the toilet? Lack of Crash and Spyro is no surprise what-so-ever. I suppose the signs were there when Sony only announced a few of the games when revealing this.

In co-op, totally agree with you. On my own, not so much.

Where were all of you when I was making that exact same point!? I imagine the person who would most enjoy Odyssey is the speedrunner. Like, this game was astonishingly fun to watch on Games Done Quick a couple of days ago. But casually playing is such a snooze fest. I wouldn't mind so much if the end-game challenges were on the same kind of challenge as 3D World or Galaxy 2, but that was lacking as well.

@MindFreak has it almost right. One feature he overlooked though is that connecting Let's GO to GO will make it very easy to catch Meltan in GO for 30 minutes. This can be repeated whenever you transfer another Pokémon to the Switch game.

It's a thread on the General Gaming Board. The basic idea is that each month, someone provides a choice of 3 games and we vote on which one to play during that month and we chat about it and stuff. So far, we've done Wario Land 4, Link's Awakening and this month's Castlevania one is about to end. So it'll soon be time to vote for a game for November.

You're right, it's not. Instead of traditional pinball tables, Pokémon Pinball Mini works more like an adventure game. You had to smack your way through 70 levels using different Pokémon as makeshift flippers.
