  1. Not gonna lie, the Hunter and Palamute armour for that looks pretty nice. The Felyne costume? Not so much. But that's great for a whole different reason. Hopefully, we'll see more non-Capcom crossovers now, because the quality of them have been really high compared to previous entries I've played. Pity that the PC version means Ninty stuff is likely right out.
  2. Oh wow, someone else actually played AI! Funny that you used that screenshot. Because that conversation didn't really apply that well to me, because I'm too much of a Poké nerd to get caught out by that, so I put that question to other N-Europe members and most of them were caught out by it. It was kinda surreal seeing that effect happen.
  3. It looked cool, until I looked closer and saw that it's all just random Gen 1 Pokémon... And boy, I kinda hate how lazy the choices were. The only one I agree with is Rapidash Knight. Ignoring the fact that Pikachu is both the King and Queen pieces, and looks nearly identical. Nidoking and Nidoqueen are RIGHT THERE, begging to take those spots! There are even Pokémon literally based around chess pieces (Pawniard and Bisharp) and they are nowhere to be seen! Massive Fail! Then again, that would qualify it as official Gen 5 merch that doesn't include the starters or cover legendaries, and we just can't have that, can we? So yeah, morning rant over.
  4. I haven't even played it yet, but I'd easily choose Psychonauts 2 out of that list. Just watching a little gameplay of it, and it just clowns all over Mario Odyssey! Metroid Dread is legit making me miserable playing it, I think I'm gonna have to give up on it. So I can't in good conscience pick it.
  5. Oh right, yeah! I'm gonna go ahead and reveal how I voted initially. Am I a little peeved that DCubed's top pick triumphed over mine? A little. But I'm not gonna complain. Vampire Killer deserved to place high. Anyway, for the sake of clarity, I'm also gonna reveal the tie breakers that ended up as another tie, which forced me to step in and give the deciding vote.
  6. I'm suddenly reminded that this game has 20 language options. Portuguese is one of them. Will be interesting to see how that localisation holds up, because naturally, I can't judge it. Then again, it is an indie game, which have pretty good track records for language options.
  7. Game's amazing! Music's amazing, writing's hilarious! It gets pretty difficult, but it's so satisfying once you figure out a strategy that gets you through (with just a little bit of luck). But sudden surprise free DLC? I'm ready to die all over again! Will make a change from bashing my face against an EMMI shaped wall.
  8. This is usually me. And nothing accentuated that more then when I played Skyrim. "Oh, so each of these races have different strengths and weaknesses? That's pretty neat, I wonder which I should... Woah! Hold up! There's lizard people in this!?" And then I picked the lizard dude. Game was boring open-world tripe, but the novelty of it was nice for a little while. Not enough fantasy set games give you non-human choices. I also agree that I don't see myself in characters. Even when I make a custom one that I will try to make look like me. The established characters are always more interesting to me anyway. Take Dragon Quest XI, Hero is a typical mute DQ protagonist, but much like the rest of that series, his companions carry the plot, and they're more interesting to me as a result. If a game encourages me to make choices, well, I'll almost always be unable to resist the rule of funny. Which is not at all how I'd act in real life.
  9. Mario Galaxy really is one of the finest Mario games ever. But you have to remember, it was designed for the WiiMote/Nunchuk setup, so the camera being more fixed was because of the lack of a second stick. You know what's even madder though? Galaxy 2 is better. Well, except for the story aspect. It's not better there. But everything else? Hoo boy! That music they use for Speedy Comets in Galaxy 2 is amazing! But anyway, back to the first Galaxy. The Storybook is what most people remember. (There's a reason Rosalina became popular and started appearing in everything) That second last chapter is surprisingly heartbreaking! It's a simple, but powerful story. Which brings me to Mario Kart 8 which, while great, will always annoy me because they decided to make an alternative playable Rosalina that wasn't a younger version based on that storybook. Instead we got another character based off of Baby Peach. What a wasted opportunity! EDIT: BTW, you do realise Galaxy on Switch supports the Pro Controller, right? I played it with that, and it works fine.
  10. I also think Shin Megami Tensei is coming out far too late to be considered.
  11. I did it in a very skillful way, mind! Like, if it wasn't for the stupidity of the maneuver, it would have been legit impressive!
  12. I don't know. I think Metroid Dread being a 2D perspective kind of game will scupper it's chances...
  13. Aw man, that's the version I played as well, how did I forget that!? So Bandana Hero is allowed. Going to open the room in a minute now.
  14. @Dcubed has informed me that while Pikmin 3 doesn't have a photo mode, Pikmin 3 Deluxe does. Both Olimar and Alph are playable, and the Garden of Hope stage will be included in the random selection. Amazingly enough, he also found out that Starlink: Battle for Atlas has a photo mode! Which means that Fox and Wolf are also allowed, but none of the Star Fox stages will be included.
  15. Right, time for the next theme night. This is one I dub... Lemme Take a Selfie The latest update for Animal Crossing: New Horizons gives the player a handheld camera to play with. So to celebrate, the character selection is restricted to any playable character featuring in a game that has some kind of dedicated photo feature. And no, the Switch capture button doesn't count, as well as Smash Bros. itself. Games where the point is to take pictures are also not counted. (Pokémon Snap, for example) Be aware, that some characters have costume restrictions, which I will detail now. Wario - Classic dungarees only Bowser Jr. - No Koopalings Cloud - No Advent Children outfits Hero - Dragon Quest XI version only Steve - No Enderman or Zombie Sora - KH3 versions only (The render faces forwards for those) Technically, every Pokémon in Smash can be photographed in Pokémon Sun/Moon, but I just limited it to Incineroar, who debuted in that game. I aimed to keep it to the games that have these photo features, but Smash doesn't cover all of that. (Pokémon Sun/Moon, Mario 3D World, etc). So I made substitutions. Items will be the standard. Format - Time - 3 minutes FS Meter - On Session starts at 8pm tonight.
  16. So, I found out the hard way that E.M.M.I can just casually stroll through Beam Blocks as if they don't exist... Man, my mood just whiplashes all over the place with this game I've finally started playing. And I've only just gotten to the second area. I'm zipping around the place, being badass, playing Metroid, and it's wonderful. The controls are so fluid! But then I realise I have no choice but to go through one of those doors to proceed, and then what follows is several minutes of me hating it. I despair at how difficult later E.M.M.I zones will be...
  17. I haven't even played III, and even I know about Matador and it's crazy difficulty spike. It's one of the most infamous fights in the series. For what it's worth, SMT IV was probably the easiest the series has been so far. (It's still tougher then TMS, mind) But it was manageable, because you always had the option to change difficulty (A feature I'm sure is staying for this entry). It was a good balance. Just make sure you have access to some buffing magic ASAP, because they'll make your life a million times easier in these games. They're really important for boss fights.
  18. See, now I want all three Mother games remade to look more clay-like, much like the "renders" those games use for promotional purposes. That'd be sweet! Or just release the two EarthBound games on Switch online. That'd also be nice...
  19. I very much doubt that Game Freak chose who developed this. If anything, TPC would be the ones calling the shots there.
  20. See, the thing is, even if it is a poor Pokémon remake. It's still Diamond and Pearl, which are great Pokémon games in their own right. Certainly better then the past three generations of Pokémon games have been. It may have been completely shafted by getting outsourced to a different company with a unfairly tight deadline, but if it still has the same structure as the DS originals (with obvious QoL improvements like HM removals, etc.), it's still gonna be a good game for those people who never played it on the DS. Anyway, I'm planning on reviewing it for N-Europe, and you know I'm going to notice any differences that I think are for the worse, and I will call it out if it does. EDIT: That said, I think @Ronnie's comparison to the Link's Awakening remake is already unfair, you're putting Nintendo up against a much smaller developer. A more apt comparison would be to take another Switch Pokémon remake done by a relatively smaller studio. Ah... Well, BD/SP can't catch a bloody break, can it?
  21. Well, that was a sudden thing to see during breakfast! That'll teach me for playing video games! But hey, there it is for all you people too lazy to go to the main page! Ta to @S.C.G and @RedShell for the graphics, and @Jonnas for proofreading it. And that about does it! Now while I kept things on track, this was @Dcubed's idea. So thanks for that! Was interesting, for sure! You're now free to discuss anything about this vote, including what you actually voted for, if you so choose.
  22. You all know exactly why that's the case.
  23. Wish TPC would take notes from this...
  24. Yeah, @Dcubed just informed me of that. It's really horrendous. Gen 4 deserved way better then this.
  25. Air dodges in this game makes fools of us all.
