  1. But people do buy them.. I remember buying Silent Scope for £45 on the PS2 launch, it was a piece of shit. It's just 'filler'
  2. Yes and I was also asked: "What do you guys think of my t-shirt designs?" If this person is serious about making any sales from someone like me who buy shirts off the interenet regularly from sites like threadless and fullbleed then he will want to take on board our criticisms and comments. The world isn't for kissing arses, I think he needs to make some changes to the shirts if he wants people to buy them. I've pointed out the nice parts and suggested changes. It's constructive criticism, he doesn't have to take it on board.. he might want to listen to other people but you can suck my balls if you think that what I said was not constructive. Unconstructive comments are along the lines of: "Piece of shit, nobody will wear them, how lame" which is far from what I said.
  3. yeah I guess.
  4. Bad, but innevitable.
  5. Link None impressed me except the 'wow' graphic, and that was spoilt by having a different graphic on the back. A plain 'wow' shirt would sell well I imagine. The same applies to the stand.. I didn't like the text.. but the graphic was crisp. Generally cafe press quality doesn't impress me.
  6. I think mine does actually, I've seen NTSC on the scart manual setup. Sweet..
  7. Yeah PC screens, still look okay. Shame it got rellogated to the DS?
  8. Oh right, once again misinformed by digg. Well I won't be buying one until a decent price war starts and some interesting games come along. Why the hell don't they just put the HD-DVD inside the premium : \
  9. Well Nintendo of Europe copies of Animal Crossing recieve exclusive goodies on the WiFi.. and we're still waiting to see what happens with voice chat on hunters. But for the most part it is 'functional' and just minorly crippled.
  10. Nah and 10 more characters of nah.
  11. Red Steel, Tony Hawks, Sega games.. well that's anybody's guess. The secret- I won't go there. I'll buy this providing it is in shops in time. I'd say no the Phantasy Star online- almost definitely.
  12. I am betting AOL will be streaming, I'll be taking advantage of that. The fact that AOL and Nintendo seem to have some casual partnership is a HUGE deal with regard to the Revolution selling in America.
  13. Wouldn't be practical with regard to the controller. There are several serial ports on the bottom of the Revolution though. I think just the size and simplicity of the setup lends itself to chucking it in your bag and going round a mates for a party.. plugging it in and rocking out. I wouldn't use it but I imagine there'd be a lot of Japanese people who'd buy this.

    Icarus?

Never played it, is it really that good? Artwork looks fake solely by the placement of the Nintendo logo, they usually place it in the corners.
  15. I vote freedom, the DS has been a huge success despite being region free.. I see the Revolution going the same way as it clearly hasan't been detrimental to the success of the DS. Average consumers are happy buying games in their home region and Nintendo has kept a small percentage of hardcore gamers happy by allowing them to import some games a few months early for as little as £5 more. They'd be fools not to, and I can't see a decent reason why not.. if anything it would lower production costs and streamline the manafacture of the consoles and porting of games. Would there be problems with regard to playing a Japanese game on a UK Revolution if it was 'region free' because I know there may be differences in our televison sets? Isn't UK standard PAL for TVs? and America NTSC? or is this just a code for the console?
  16. Cha Ching, Time to sell my classics for $$$ to the kids.
  17. Just heard about SEGA and MAME making the back catalogue, the word on all these upgrades really really makes me warey. To an extent where I wont be buying a 360 in the next 12 months. Sorry Microsoft but WTH.. you shouldn't have released it if you weren't happy with the specification.. the Slimline PS2 was fine, because it was merely a power and design overhaul, we're talking performance and HD-DVD upgrades as well as price wars. You'd be a fool to buy a 360 today unless there's a game you're excited about. I also agree, Microsoft has ad partnerships through MSN networks and will gladly implement them on the Live service if Nintendo's and Sony's online services cause Live to come under scrutiny from consumers questioning "Why do we have to pay?"
  18. Right, well it's one of those things that the ladies prefer.. well most of them. Yet it's not so widely discussed between guys- it's kinda taboo I guess. Anyway, anyone had it done..? I'm thinking about getting it done because hair is starting to make it's way up the back and I'd rather get rid of it. Also what did/do you pay for such a service? I don't wanna know about the pain :P I'd rather not think about it.
  19. Indiana Jones shit
  20. It has been proven that video games desensitise our responses to violence.. not really that related. However it has been proven by neuroscientists who analyse brain patterns when we view violent images and measure our brain patterns. That's something that is scientific because we can't change how we feel after we see a picture of a corpse.. but playing Resident Evil would desensitise us to images of that nature.. mostly because Resident Evil is quite photorealistic. This was benchmarked against those who don't play games and they were shown the same images (corpses etc..) and they showed much higher responses to the images. That is solid research.
  21. Why would they release a game if it didn't have enough Pokemon? That's like the main part of the game.. having so many you have to spend months getting them all and exploring. The idea that they would update it with a significant number that you need to buy an upgrade patch seems unlikely. When they could patch it via WiFi like they do with Animal Crossing.. If it goes down the MMORPG route where they would release patches to keep the game fresh then chances are it would be based on CD and you buy the new CD to get the new lands/pokemon. SD cards to not have the read write speeds like DVDs do I don't think it would be practical or cost effective. If they didn't patch it and it was more like a little update to the game it could just go through WiFi.. having broadband is a perk of getting these extras.. you can't complain that you don't have access to something extra if you don't have broadband.
  22. Suck my balls. It's a reasonable comment and widely regarded as fact.. Pokemon is Nintendo's biggest money spinner because they have an army of kids who will buy nearly anything with pokemon written on it.
  23. SD 1gb = £20 Bullshit, SD is cheap these days because competition for all the new adopters of digital cameras drove down the prices about a year ago. TellyN what a ridiculous idea, they could just use Nintendo WiFi.
  24. I examined some research back in college which was based on university students. Basically the aim of the research was to see if there was a link between the kinds of games someone would prefer to play.. and their tendencies to show dementia or violence. They tested 5 people.. presented them with a choice of 2 games, Myst and Doom (this was the early 90s) and most that picked Doom also admitted to mild cases of dementia and violence as a child. First of all, these are University students, and they are being asked to tell the truth- who is to say they didn't just lie? and 5 university students? It's hardly a fair comment on society. People who go to University come from a richer background typically, they're usually educated and probably would prefer to play Doom over a mature game like Myst. The research was bullshit and had holes in it everywhere. I can dig it up if anyone is interested.. but people like Jack Thompson still refer to research like this 10 years later like it is gospel. Research is VERY difficult to do like this.
  25. Society is far too multifaceted to come to such conclusions. We would need to isolate someone from computer games for a period of time.. say 20 years and then monitor another child from a similar background and supply them with a variety of video games through the span of their life. Then compare them.. problem is society is really complicated. The media, parents, friends, family, television networks. Everything influences us. Capitalism and exploitation of the environment makes me more violent than computer games. I think there may be a casual link between violent people and people who play violent computer games, but i think many people who aren't violent also enjoy the escapism that being violent in a virtual reality world brings. Basically a parental body has 90% of the influence on children.. and the school covers a lot of the remaining 10% and the media will have some influence too. Computer games are negligible.. I find it hard to believe that anyone would be influenced by a game to be violent. Just look at TV, Jackass- nobody whinged about that did they, kids love it. But they don't copy it (well we did but not the real violent stuff) As a scientist, a keen game and someone who is very interested in society, the media and politics I say "Bullshit" to all research.. the conclusions cannot be based on anything solid and I really question who funded such research. Who can benefit from it?
