Thinking of Purchasing Vista? then read this
Nintendork replied to CompSci's topic in General Chit Chat
I can't be arsed to defend Mac with regard to the Windows users posts.. I used to have a similar stance really.. I have had windows for my entire life and Mac seemed very dodgy. They've changed a lot though, and little things like right click, copy and paste.. and programs are myths really. Mighty Mouse for example. Anyway back onto a Vista thread which is not about Macs.. I think it's gonna be ridiculously graphically intensive.. i've seen their Window system which is basically Expose but in 3D and that's mental. I don't think I could justify the cost of a Vista system that would 'work' nicely in this decade. -
I think we should see the range of movements out arms are possible of doing as the 'constraints' of the console's controller.
-
The purists of you want to preserve the heritage but it will widen the appeal of the game to people who only played Sega/Sonic > Mario/Nintendo. I don't care, I always play as Luigi anyway.. Even if Sonic was in the game.. would it matter that much? It's not like anyone is forcing you to play with Sonic- you could just not play with him. They'd be fools not to, but there has been no indication at all that they will do otherwise.

It's too close to E3 to warrant discussing this. With regard to the console shipping with 2 controllers I still think that's unlikely despite what Harrison said. Mayhem sounds a lot like Melee (in America they pronounce it Maylay not Mellay) I dunno if that title would run well in the US simply for being too alike. I liked my idea- Smash Bros. and Co because everyone wants to see Sonic and some other mascots in there. Rockstar.. hmm, I don't care if they're there or not- yes Rockstar ship a lot of consoles.. but I don't care how many systems Nintendo sells, as long as they make a profit. CS and HL2? ahahahahahahahahahaha. I think you are all smoking something.. I am highly skeptical Valve will bring either to Revolution. It'd be nice but I still doubt it.

Anything that opens with analysis of random quotes from various involved people is not worth reading by my standards. There's another secret, I don't even know what a visual disruptor is because I didn't read it.. but I doubt it is it.

They need to sort it out. Out mail won't come until after 12 noon these days, when you're meant to get it 3 hours earlier at least.
-
Too much effort, good idea if anyone actually bothers to go outside their bedroom for this though.

Home office "accidentally" frees over 1000 convicted criminals
Nintendork replied to gaggle64's topic in General Chit Chat
Charles Clarke is safe, don't go dissing him because he cocked up once. I am sick of this sensationalist attitude to politics where it's just simplified down to an extent where people just don't consider the event.. they just consume it. I think there is a difference between being 'considered' for deportation and being deported. Obviously those convicted rapists should be out of the country immediately.. and there probably was an attempt to smuggle this under the carpet. We have a socialist (well kinda) government and I think anyone who starts citing racial hatred along the lines of 'frickking immigrants' is not considering the real issues. So should think before he/she adds to this thread. TBH, Clarke really needs to explain himself better on this, mistakes like this happen for a reason.. someone should be held accountable for this. -
Tony Hawks Downhill Jam: Rev EXCLUSIVE!!
Nintendork replied to Retro_Link's topic in Nintendo Gaming
Nah, I wouldn't want to play it on the DS, graphics looks pretty kack in the adverts. Difference is the DS follows the similar control scheme of the PS1/2. I dunno it Revolution's controller will be adopted by the mass market who are so used to playing Tony Hawks that way. If they do use it. It should be noted that in America more kids skate than play Baseball- skaters are a driving force for the sales of these games. I know some people who don't skate enjoy them but there are a hell of a lot of skaters out there. I really consider the control scheme to be one of the pioneering features of the game.. and definitely a reason why it is still popular.. -
Awesome is the word, i'll co-sign that. I was expecting another shit fanboy video.

Tony Hawks Downhill Jam: Rev EXCLUSIVE!!
Nintendork replied to Retro_Link's topic in Nintendo Gaming
I know a lot of people who like Tony Hawk games, they keep buying them because it doesn't change.. they just like to be able to skate. That's why the series has been such a success.. because it just works on so many levels- the control scheme, it's fresh and simple. The soundtrack, branding and endorsement- everything was great about it. I think changing the formula in such a drastic way could be fatal for the series.. I'm assuming it's going to beabout downhill skateboarding Also another side note, when Tony Hawks 3 came out it was launched on the PS2 and PS1, the PS2 version had similar levels but the last level was a bonus for people. The PS2 version bonus was a huge level on a ship, it was wicked The PS1 version bonus was a downhill skateboard level, because the hardware couldn't handle the ship. -
Tony Hawks Downhill Jam: Rev EXCLUSIVE!!
Nintendork replied to Retro_Link's topic in Nintendo Gaming
I've played 1-4, I probably wouldn't buy it even if it was a straight port of whatever classic Tony Hawks they're doing for the PS3/xbox. My guess is they want to take the 'classic' Tony Hawks and they want to engineer an entire city, huge environments of skateable stuff like in GTA. I assume the Revolution can't handle their aspirations, so they're going to do something different for the Revolution and make it exclusive and use the controller. I am bored of the series in general.. Tony is milking it a little now and he said in an interview he'd stop after the 5th game because it was getting a bit repetitive. I'm more interested in SSX really.. that's my kinda game. -
Would make sense, there's space enough in there for the damn thing. I mean.. all this thing has in it is an analogue stick and 2 shoulder buttons.. it's hardly state of the art technology. The chipset is probably going to be in the little block that clips onto the controller. It would make sense to add it if not just to weigh the thing down and give it a feel of quality. Makes sense on all levels, I think it would be weird having gyro/force feedback in just one hand besides.. this means we can have dynamic conrols depending on the environment.. Good news YenRug, that is rad actually.

Tony Hawks Downhill Jam: Rev EXCLUSIVE!!
Nintendork replied to Retro_Link's topic in Nintendo Gaming
Exclusive doesn't mean better than the PS3 or 360 version. It means nothing to me.. I'm guessing this game is gonna suck balls. -
Social, they make kids happy. I remember the mid 90s when Keenan and Kel was on, that was an okay show tbh.. and it had 'Koolio' they're the least coroporate of the kids TV networks excluding the CBBC one of course.

They've already said there will be a DRM system to ensure their content is protected. So if they're taking that much time to offer demos and stuff via DRM. Theoretically they should be able to update downloads and offer exclusive deals as they see fit. On launch, perhaps the list will be sparse.. and simply get updated as more deals are signed- much like how iTunes grew.

Anyone see Pimp my Ride UK last night..?
Nintendork replied to Nintendork's topic in General Chit Chat
I find the episodes with X to the Z hilarious. There's always that one guy that is like.. What are we going to do then? Wheel dude: GON' PUT SOME WHEELS ON IT!! -
No such luck on Safari- I can't see a decent reason why it wouldn't work on Safari.
-
That defeats the point of the damn FHC. Nintendo tried doing it with the cube, and gave into developpers by adding the Z button and they have to draw the line somewhere. The benefit outweighs the tiny loss of having to have a shell.

Cheers for the link, think I'll pick up Metroid.

There was that market research thing they did. Apparently Nintendo comissioned the research and it detailed a list of about 30 classic games, though this cannot be considered as definitive indicator of what we'll see on the Virtual Console. Problem is Rare games were listed on it- which since then it has been been brought to light that now Microsoft owns Rare the games will probably not be on the back catalogue (being in Microsoft's interest to do so) Yeah this could have gone in the other thread really. NES Games Balloon Fight Baseball Donkey Kong Donkey Kong Jr. Dr. Mario Duck Hunt Excitebike Hogan's Alley Ice Climber Ice Hockey Kid Icarus Kirby Kung Fu Mario Bros. Mario Open Golf Metroid Pinball Pro Wrestling Punch Out RC Pro AM Soccer Super Mario Bros. Super Mario Bros. 2 Super Mario Bros. 3 Tennis Tetris Urban Champion Volleyball Wario's Woods Yoshi's Cookies Zelda Zelda (Adventure of Link) S-NES Games Battle Clash Donkey Kong Country Donkey Kong Country 2 Earthbound F-Zero Illusion of Gaia Killer Instinct Kirby's Avalanche Kirby Dream Course Kirby Super Star Kirby 3 Pilot Wings Sim City Star Fox Stunt Race FX Super Mario Kart Super Mario RPG Super Mario World Super Metroid Super Play Action Football Super Scope 6 Super Soccer Super Tennis Tetris Attack Tetris 2 Uniracers Vegas Stakes Wario's Woods Yoshi's Hunting Yoshi's Island Zelda N64 Games 1080 Blast Corps Bomberman 64 Cruisin' USA Goldeneye Mario Golf 64 Mario Party 3 Mario Tennis 64 Ogre Battle 64 Paper Mario Pilot Wings 64 Pokemon Snap WHY OH WHY?!? Sin & Punishment Star Fox 64 Super Mario 64 Wave Race Yoshi's Story Zelda This list was announced far before we heard from Sega and Hudson- so as a result we have had no word on what we might see (but Sonic will be there I guess)

Nintendork replied to Nintendork's topic in General Chit Chat
Yeah, he's not that popular in Essex being a 6 foot middle class white guy who thinks he is black. I've never listened to his Friday night show but apparently it's just a mashup of beats and gunshots. -

We know one thing- Tiger and Panther do much of what Vista will do as standard. For it to be a upgrade worth buying it has to offer more. Tiger for me was a really kack update, not nearly as groundbreaking as Panther was.
