  1. The only people who know about Revolution are Nintendo geeks who hang around on forums like this.. or other console geeks who hang around on similar forums for their console and sit around debating why their console of choice is better. Average joe doesn't know shit all about Revolution.. it's only been in a few magazines really, hasn't made mainstream media.. there's no promotional material in shops or marketing. I'm betting over 99% of the people who will buy a Revolution don't know anything about it yet. It won't confuse anyone..
  2. It's a bad move because it is making someone who might not want to play multiplayer or buy a multiplayer game pay for something he or she doesn't want. Don't try and come back with some "OMG 94% of people will play multiplayer" or "well they're just loners" or "STFU n00b 2 handed games" because all 3 arguments are pretty shit considering the information we know. - As far as we 'know' no decent game will require the use of 2 controllers as standard. - As far as we know Nintendo want this system to be as cheap as possible. Substeinar.. the shell is cheap, it will probably be like the Wavebird without a rumble pack, it's just buttons and chipboard. No expensive wireless technology like in the FHC. The cost of a shell is an insignificance in comparison to the price of the equipment going into the FHC.
  3. Some retailers ship in bulk to a warehouse in the UK then send it internally to you- YesAsia are one of these. Lik-Sang however does not. You are responsible for all taxes from purchases from abroad.. If Lik Sang are law abiding they will not mark the package as a gift which exempts you from up to £35 of taxes. I know they do not do this, it will be marked as an electrical retail purchase. If customs find you.. and the chances are reasonably high- don't think you'll get lucky, you might not. 17.5% VAT on top of the purcahse price (marked on the outside of the package) and then 2.5% on top of that for electronics/clothing. A grand total of 20% of whatever you paid excluding postage. However Denmark might have different taxes so insert your own country tax- hope that helps. PS there is an imports board with a wealth of importing pirates who will be able to help you.
  4. Here's some family fun. Put some cling film over the toilet seat crisply on the inner edge so it doesn't make any noise. Someone comes in and takes a crap and the heat of their arse lifts the cling film up and shit goes all down their legs. Classic. edit: damn beat me to it ^
  5. Don't fuck around with Wikipedia unless you're going to revert it. Blue Wave in Japanese: 青い波 That means nothing really.. kinda rhymes with new wave..
  6. They'll probably include a high quality one as a nunchucka add-on with the game for free. They're relatively cheap pieces of hardware and I assume the FHC has the bandwidth to hold up a VOIP signal. The controller hasn't changed FGS, it's just the developpers hardware.
  7. 'Struth. We should open a IGN Matt forum too.
  8. Well part of the reason why I got a Mac is because the G4 is extremely efficient on the batteries.. my 1ghz G4 outperforms a 2.8ghz Celeron (yeah they're shit but still..) and when I first got it, it gave me 6 hours cordless. The intels are widely regarded for having kack battery life.. even if it performs it still isn't a portable laptop if it only gives you 2 hours average use. A laptop for me isn't judged by the specs.. it's by the life on the road. Nobody really does much intensive work on the go except the paparazi who work in photoshop around the world.. if a MacBook only gives you a couple of hours when word processing, surfing and listening to some tunes you're stuffed really. Even the might of Mac OS X cannot manage the flaws of bad hardware.. and on top of that not all software has been made into universal binary yet. I'll probably upgrade by the time Leopard comes. The old Mac used to boast a quality battery life of 5 hours, the new MacBook's website doesn't mention it- in fact it now gives tips on how to conserve battery life instead.
  9. Exactly dude, surround sound, widescreen and DVD is just a really great experience right now. I'm personally waiting for a wireless surround sound kit so I can stick the speakers up on the walls without wires and have them powered by batteries, then the WiFi can hook up to wireless and play tunes. There's no doubting that HD TV is better quality.. you probably can't notice it because your nan doesn't have Sky HD yet probably.. BBC are broadcasting much of the world cup in HD so check that out and you'll probably notice the sweat beads. The 2008 Olympics will probably all be in HD and even Freeview will have a couple of slots for a HD stream by then. I'm hoping that Revolution will support surround sound because I think that is the tech to make it into homes this year.
  10. Mostly because that would require significant co-operation between Toshiba and Sony the main peddlers of the two rival technologies. They both believe so bluntly that their cards can take the pot that they're not willing to compromise. It's all or nothing. Basically I think they're both going to fail.. for a variety of reasons, mostly because the cost is so extremely high. Second they're confusing the average consumer.. nobody is gonna be a HD-DVD if it is gonna have no disney movies for example. Thirdly because the market isn't asking for a new format.. we're being told we want one. The companies are pushing this tech down out throat. Buy a HD-TV, Buy Sky HD.. buy a BluRay drive etc.. The problem is it should be the people that control the market.. when we ask for something they make it for us.. sure in the past they have made educated guesses on what we'll want in a few years so they can get it out. I'd say all of this is 10 years premature.. I wouldn't expect HD to have a double figure percentage penetration by the 2008 cut off point for standard broadcasting. DVD is good enough.. with a widescreen TV and surround sound system which is what basically any good electrical retailer will stock as their only products.
  11. Yeah I just saw that... lucky guy, I'm after one of those right now. The intel processor really puts me off though. That and the price tag of like a grand. But if you think about it.. 100gb, 2.0ghz dual core, up to 2gb of ram, iSight and microphone built in.. pretty solid battery life and such nice design- not mentioning that graphics card and dual booting it really is a wonder machine. Kinda lame he bought Office.. even at the $99 student edition considering you can get Open Office on macs for free and it does basically the same job without looking as pretty. Perhaps the IGN machine picked up that bill.
  12. Does Nintendo have offices in Singapore? Because BlueWave.com is registered there. If that was a real name they would have probably thought about buying it by now.
  13. Everyone knows the PS2s have all set themselves on fire. Nobody has one anymore. I'm happy with the other PS3 threads and the PSP does not interest me.
  14. I'm more interested in what David Jaffe, Will Wright and Steven Spielberg have to say tbh..
  15. Depends if they are good or not though.. I'd rather see quality over quantity. The GameCube has some really great quality exclusives and isn't swamped by all the crap that the PS2 and xbox did. The PS2s success is down to more than good developper support. It's one of the boxes ticked on the way to a good console.. but the games make a console and if only 5% of them are worth buying to your average gamer the console won't do well..
  16. You just can't compare Red Steel to either God of War or Metal Gear Solid.. Metal gear has earnt it's status as one of the best games ever. The same applies for God of War.. Like Bookerman said, we don't know much about it yet, even a control scheme can't make a freaking game. It's good but not godly.. and doesn't deserve to be compared to one until it has earnt it.
  17. Now that sounds like a game.. your performance is determined by your imagination and resourcefulness. Sounds great.
  18. I like how he included a HD TV for the PS3 owner but didn't include a TV at all for the Revolution.. I guess it's a magic system. Anyway this argument that there is no noticeable different between a Revolution and a PS3 on a standard definition television is getting FUCKING old. Seriously.. a PS3 can render much deeper environments with more moving things, varied textures, deeper sounds and so much more. If you think that a Revolution can handle the tracks and all the cars and damage that Gran Turismo Vision can do you are seriously misinformed. The Revolution is not a wonder machine.. sure to the naked eye the PS3 will have a handicap on a SD TV but you're really deluding yourself if you think they will perform in the same way and hold up the same kind of environments you're mistaken.
  19. Cheers Rage, first criticism.. EGM clearly aren't going to have an exclusive because every magazine and website is going to want to try this thing out. They say it's a "hands on play session" which probably means they'll have an hour.. then the next magazine will be carted in. "NO SAMPLES, KEYBOARDS OR SYNTYESIZERS USED IN THE MAKING OF THIS RECORDING." I was pretty amazed when I read that on that album too..
  20. Click Skippy for a preview of 'Orb' with more concept art and discussion from the creators. To be honest me and skip aren't majorly impressed by this title yet.. the concept art isn't even beginning to touch on the stuff you see for movies like Spirited Away by Studio Ghibli or anything you'd expect to see on the walls as you walk into the reception of Pixar studios. This is concept art for the game Myst V, Orb's work just doesn't begin to compare and I think they have a long way to go still. I will watch the title.. this is what Nintendo wants, they're getting the fresh meat.. they've got a lot of ideas and with a bit of guidance and money they could probably create an average quality title for their first game.
  21. Great, a whole month away. No good to us considering E3 will be over by then and just about everything worth seeing or knowing will be on the internet. What date can us peasant non subscribing commoners get our mitts on this issue? Where can we get it in the UK, if at all? At what price? and ultimately why should we buy this one over the competition? The competition being the internet media which is free.
  22. Start > Control Panel > Display > One of the tabs > One of the graphical performance tweak things > The second left on the high street > Enable clear text on icons [note this may hinder graphical performance] > Yawn > Click Yes to continue. Done. Sorry I can't be clearer.. it's in there somewhere, I seem to remember it being part of the NVidia desktop stuff.. I've not used Windows in a long time but you can change everything even the fonts and colours to make it clearer on XP.
