  1. Codemasters aren't bringing Colin or Toca to Wii.. Word on da street is Micro Machines V4 might make an appearance if the system sells enough. Besides that I don't expect anything else.
  2. Cars for Wii looks okay, I think they have pushed it a bit far.. it's only a damned movie license? Anyway that actually looks comparable to the 360 version, albeit not in 720pies. Pity the game has no driving engine.. it's just a case of rag it around and there are no consequences because none of the trees or bushes have been mapped to slow you down.
  3. The sound will make or break this game. Pity there's no 5.1
  4. Shino, I think the correct term is traveller's these days.. and to be honest it's their choice of lifestyle. Who are we to say that everyone should live in a bricked in house with a white picket fence? Have you ever even met one? And don't say I want to a fair once. Probably nice people once you get to know them.. they have a damn sight more community spirit than neighbourhoods where I live. Really is this the place for your right wing bullshit?
  5. "Sega does, what Nintendon't" Wouldn't get away with an advert like that these days.
  6. Actually I take it back.. I might get Striker's charged if some of the original issues are ironed out.
  7. Why not? Car showrooms often check your credit rating before letting you test drive a sport's car? That's a reasonable analogy irrespective of the huge difference in cost. You go in, ask to play.. the representative takes your card and or ID, verifies it is legitimate and hands over a Wiimote + Nunchuck. You're allowed to play 'as intended' if you chip off with the remote you'll get charged and perhaps prosecuted. When you return the controller/s in the condition they were left with your card and ID is returned. It means that no damage comes to the system like the DS kiosks, people can play as intended and staff don't have to personally escort people. I think it's quite uninviting making it a load system.. but having wires does kinda detract from the spectacle that Wii is. If you've got people playing Wii Tennis in store, everyone will crowd around and go "Wow, how cool" and probably buy one. Also when the cardholder returns the sales person can say "would you like to buy one?" and cold sell it.
  8. Well GameStop is getting them in the US.. and apparently you need a credit card to play one.. just to make sure you don't break it. If you do presumably your data will be yoinked and you'll be charged an extortionate amount for some replacement Wiimotes and Nunchucks. I suppose stores could personally monitor kids playing Wii and allow them to have a quick demo.. but on company money? for kids who probably won't actually buy a console there and then? Hmm.. I know when I was a kid I used to play demos for 30 minutes before deciding whether to actually buy the game. I certainly wouldn't want some store representative going "Come on, you've had 10 minutes okay? You gonna buy it or what?" Anyway here's what Kotaku has to say: I guess the kids will have to watch. As for Europe.. who knows? seems like a lot to ask, for a shop to take credit cards and verify they are legit.. check against ID or whatever. Then what if this person runs off with the Remote? Well whatever. Pinch of salt.
  9. She has a MySpace, she's doing a PhD in like game culture or some BS.
  10. Beat me to it.
  11. Narrator is a dick, his agent will let him work on anything. He knows nothing about games.. I've heard him on C4 narrating for late night BMX shows and Poker TV. I <3 Reggie. edit. That looks like the Bravo logo? What happened to BITS? The presenter on that show used to present Thumb Bandits on C4 back in the day.. she was very cool. Think she writes for the Guardian Games Blog now.
  12. Nah, actually I will buy a football game when you can have 4 teams on the pitch at once.
  13. Monkey Ball. Solely because it has all the classics from SMB1+SMB2, plus more. That's 50 mini games, plus a single player mode. WarioWare is short, often catches you out on minor technicalities and too loud.
  14. I had the Mega Drive, but didn't have many games.. which seems ridiculous in retrospect- because they weren't cheap. I had a collection with Collumns and Sonic, that's it. I enjoyed the SNES more, my friend had one.. also the controller was better. Feel like a bit of a spoilt brat when I look back to the Mega Drive era , I got a Mega Drive but we blatantly couldn't afford it.. and that's why we didn't have any games. By the time the PlayStation came I was buying my own games and had a concept of value of money.
  15. DS only supports WEP. Not WPA. There is a thread in the techy bolox forum.
  16. Moore already coined the term Wii60. But conversely you've got the expensive and similar experience- PS360. Either way Microsoft wins.. they have a good middle ground.
  17. Nintendo is not on a kamikaze mission, Japanese businesses are very conservative.. it's their whole philosophy. Nintendo is responsible for a lot of employment and enjoyment around the world. They are hardly going to throw it away by failing to admit they are wrong. (Like the big Ken) Nintendo happily admit the GameCube, and to a lesser extent the N64 failed in some key areas. They aren't doing the same thing again.. region coding wasn't the reason the Cube failed.. it was the format, it was being elitist with licensing, it was the design and to some extent marketing. Things that have all been addressed. I am very concerned about Nintendo Europe's dedication to gamers.. but a petition won't solve these problems.
  18. What's that? I can't hear you? My balls are bouncing on your mother's chin too loudly. This will get you no-where, with the Wii launching in 1 month, the Wii must be in production. So you're too late idiots. Welcome to Locksville, population- you.
  19. He's okay, bit of a country bumpkin though. When I reformatted my Mac, 'Where it's at' was the first song to regrace my iTunes library.
  20. 14 working days after expected delivery, if it's not come you can claim insurance through PayPal up to £250 or £500 for verified members. Then it's a lengthy process of forms and filing shit with Royal Mail or the courier. It takes months to get your money back basically. Good luck.
  21. Personally, I deem it to be so shit I'm not going to let my godly hands be tainted by playing it. That's how strongly I feel about it. What could possibly be good about it? It hasn't got the budget for any licensed brands so it is used brands from Tony Hawk's portfolio- primarily Hawk Shoes and Birdhouse skateboards. Not that the graphics seem to be able to represent these branded goods anyway.. so let's talk about gameplay.. how much flexibility can you possibly have in a downhill game? You can't do tricks in real life when racing downhill so it's basically just SSX on concrete. Bending reality because otherwise the game would get really boring. I know which I'd rather play.
  22. Can we please get this straight? Tony Hawks Downhill Jam will suck balls even to the most moronic fanboys looking to get joy out of a blood covered stone. All launches have bad titles, this is one of them.
  23. How to type on Wii. Open a del.icio.us account Store all your favourite websites online for free. Tag all your regular websites with the original tag Wii. Add the RSS feed for your tagged websites 'Wii' to the Opera homepage. Load up the Wii, click Opera Browser and have all your favourite and regular website links there ready for you. Free, simple, easy, safe and no typing (hardly ever) Wii is good for checking regular sources, weather, news.. sport, mail. It's shit for surfing. Leave that to a computer.
  24. Microsoft - up Sony - down Nintendo - way up This year Sony has a huge buffer.. they won't see noticeable effects until 2008.. they've got huge brand loyalty, people will just save and buy the damned console. They won't do as well, but I see this generation being very closely tied at 30-40% each, I can't see Sony blitzing the market.. and I can't see Microsoft's new image blitzing either. Nintendo can't lose really. Price, Design, Style, Controller, Classics.. Nintendo is using their old market to reinvigorate their own market.
  25. Who cares? For those who actually play Tony Hawks it's been going downhill since Tony Hawks 2. Reason? The formula was good, instead of building upon that formula they built around it. Merging genres, latest gimmicks and swamping the original formula. Most kids don't care.. they just want licensed branded goods and the latest hot thing in skateboarding.. namely Bam Margera. They want to tow along on cars for a laugh. IMHO Tony Hawks sucks balls (that includes downhill jam and the DS thing) and I'm more interested in the Skateboarding game EA has in the works. Project 8 seems to have gone back to basics, I'm happy with that and I'll probably get it on the PS3 at some point if it's not another gimmick fest. I wouldn't want to play such a game on the Wii.. and honestly neither should you.
