  1. What camera is it? You could try to search the manufacturer's website for instructions on how to remove the drivers.
  2. Check that the card isn't write protected, but if you can take photos to the card it probably isn't. Did you install the drivers that came with the camera to the pc? Try uninstalling them if you did. XP should recognise the camera and let you browse the files and copy/paste to the card without the drivers.
  3. If someone is low on money to buy a component cable, this site has a DIY solution. Basically it shows how to mod the composite cable to a component cable. And apparently it can be used to make a RGB cable with slight modifications. It probably voids warranty though...
  4. Probably the graphics card, you can test this by powering up the system while the case is open and very gently putting your finger in the center of the fan. To just slow it down, not to stop it. If the sound changes, you've found the faulty fan. If you decide to try it bear in mind that the circuits are live and you might shock yourself by touching the wrong places. And don't blame me if something gets screwed up
  5. But you have a mac? On windows iTunes+quicktime is as bad or worse than norton.
  6. The image is blurrier because even nintendo don't (or at least with cube they didn't) officially support 60Hz on composite cable. If someone wants to know what the 60Hz mode on composite (on cube) looks like compared to 50Hz click here It's the 5th post.
  7. I think that for changing to E6600 won't make a huge difference to gaming performance as the GPU will drag the gaming performance down (it isn't a bad card for gaming, but there are faster ones) And I have a feeling that the core 2 duo prices will come down as the quad core cpus will be released. And that PSU looks good, a bit expensive but it's likely to be the only component that you can reuse for the next upgrade.
  8. Depends on what you're going to do with the pc. I have the E6300 and so far it has proven to be fast enough for my needs. 400W-500W would be a safe option for the PSU.
  9. Yeah if you can afford (seems to be +84£) it and think that you need the processing power you could go for the E6600.
  10. Shorty pretty much said everything but I just did a quick comparison from apple store and dabs.com Basically: iMac: 868£ Similar pc from components on dabs.com: 779£ (could probably be under 750£ with minor changes to the setup) So is it fair to pay ~100£ for the apple logo? The world would be a better place without mac/linux/windows zealots...
  11. Now I think only things that are missing are the OS and the case. Corsair should work fine. Some motherboards have a specific list of memories that are compatible with the motherboard.
  12. I remember that I always got stuck on that bit where you can just walk across the platforms. So I never finished it either. Always got killed on the way back to upper platform.
  13. That depends. If the ip address for the pc is 192.168.x.x it won't go through the internet. Just LAN. And it doesn't matter if you knew someone's ip that starts with those numbers. They're reserved for home LANs. But if someone is not using nat on the router (that the pc and wii is connected on) and has an ISP that allows more than one public IP/connection it can go through the internet and be usable to anyone. Unless the software itself limits this somehow. Another way to do this would be installing a http server application to the pc and hosting a dedicated website that had the pictures, music, videos etc. If the opera on wii can play mp3's you'd get them working this way.
  14. The topgun review was great. Mainly because I managed to beat the game. It took me 10 years though...
  15. Check the motherboard manufacturers website for compatible RAM. I usually have gotten kingston as I haven't had any problems with them yet. The higher Mhz memories are for overclockers. If you are not planning to do that anytime soon just get the cheapest option. I have 2 gigs of 533Mhz DDR 2 on my system and just found out it had been running on 400Mhz. Changed it to run at 533 and 3dmark06 got 2 point higher score. So I wouldn't worry about the speeds of the memories. IDE drives have different connectors than sata drives. And I think that you need to install a driver for sata optical drives in windows. For IDE drives that's not really needed. Installing windows from a sata optical drive can be a problem. But some motherboards allows sata drives to be configured as standard ide so no drivers are needed. Otherwise you'd need a floppy drive to install a driver for the sata drives during the installation of windows. The graphics card will work.
  16. It's fun Well maybe not to all people, but I like it. Just as long as you follow the instructions and do not use too much force it's fine. It's like building a lego house. The one thing that can go wrong is installing the heatsink/fan to the processor. Some tips: Install the memory(RAM) and the processor when the motherboard is out of the case. You need to keep yourself grounded while installing so that you won't break anything because of static electricity. You can ground yourself by touching the metal case (I usually plug in the power cord but set the switch on the power supply off, but not all PSUs have that switch.)
  17. Nah, I played my nes during the DOS era. And I have never played any tycoon games.
  18. You need dosbox Read the tutorials on how to get the cd drive working etc.
  19. You should check the support page on the manufacturers website, as it could be a faulty unit. If it's under warranty replace it. These things aren't that uncommon. One sony vcr model had similar problem where it worked as long as you kept it plugged. But if you unplugged it and then plugged it in again it wouldn't work (it was because of a manufacturing error). And I think I have heard of a similar thing happening to a router.
  20. The amount of current depends on the load (not much on a SNES). I think that the current on those meant the maximum current the adapter can handle.
  21. Hmm? http://www.mafia-game.com/ I liked how the cars handled in this. Too bad the cars sucked though... Lately I've been playing SA, And after two years I'm still finding areas that I haven't visited. And the 'gangsta' culture is just a small part of the game. But the soundtrack is crap. I only like 3 or 4 of the songs on the game. There's no Vrock
  22. Look here: http://www.n-europe.com/forum/showthread.php?t=11133 it has some sample images on how the composite picture will look like on PC monitor. You'll need a tv card or a graphics card that has video in. Audio can be a problem though. I think you'd need a cable/adapter that has two female rca's on one end and a 3.5mm jack on the other like this. Then plug the 3.5mm jack to the line in socket on your soundcard/chip. And the two audio leads from the wii to the adapter/cable. For software I use VLC to play on my monitor. Might need some tweaking to get it working smoothly. But there's more on that on the other thread I mentioned.
  23. 1. meh.. don't really care about this one. 2. They just should make it more straghtforward, changing the clothes in san andreas just takes too much time. 3. Maybe some new weapons? 4,5,6 I think they should just replace the whole driving system. I only use cars in missions that requires you to use them. The introduction of bikes in VC made cars pretty much useless. But they should make more bikes :p 7. The san andreas was big enough. They should just concentrate more on creating the cities and other areas. 8,9,10 ??? Maybe they should redesign the whole game engine. I'm sure that current pc's can handle more polygons that san andreas threw to the screen. Or better yet, make the engine more scalable.
  24. Well it isn't exactly like that. On a 512 line you should get 64Kbytes/s. If any modem would actually be able to get a 56kbit/s connection it should get 7Kbytes/s. A 5Mbit connection should get 625Kbytes/sec. I have a 3Mbit line and I can get up to 400Kbytes/sec (it should be max 375Kbytes/s, but I'm not complaining )
  25. The ISP that you're using can cause problems. Some ISP's throttle the bittorrent traffic as it takes up too much of the bandwidth otherwise. So turning on protocol encryption or something like that (can't remember what it's called in azureus) could help. And the ISP may be preventing direct connections to your pc. To configure port forwarding on the router go to http://www.portforward.com/english/routers/port_forwarding/routerindex.htm choose the router you have, then the application and follow the instructions.
