I don't see handhelds dying out soon. The iphone may be okay for the casual gaming market, but for hardcore gamers a dedicated gaming device is needed as well as buttons. I recently bought FF1 and 2 for my iphone and they are too annoying to play for me. I honestly can't see Nintendo losing it's handheld market lead anytime soon, but if handhelds eventually do merge into gaming on phones entirely, i for one will be quite annoyed. The way i see it is that an iphone app is a quick 10 minute time waster, whilst a handheld is something that you can take over to your mate's or on holiday with you. I can sink hours into an rpg on my ds.

Went into HMV and bought a few CDs and Scott Pilgrim vs the World on dvd. Then went into Waterstones to track down the Scott pilgrim books, managed to get 1,2,3,5 and 6, no 4 sadly

MM is winning surprisingly. Since FF9 went out i went with MM as i do think it is a slightly better game than FFX. I have a bad feeling that Brawl is going to win this whole thing though...and it really isn't game of the decade.

Well yeah it was released but the problem was: 1) It was released at the end of the Playstation's lifespan 2) It came after the realistic styles of 7 and 8, new audience didn't get it 3) It was sandwiched inbetween 8 and the hyped release of 10, so it was overlooked Looks like Brawl is beating Fallout 3 in the poll going on at the moment.

Better to not have kids than to live with a decision you constantly regret just because someone told you otherwise. I have respect for both women who have kids and raise them lovingly and women who decide 'it's not for me.' At the end of the day noone can dictate your life for you, it's a free country. Personally, i'd like to have kids when i'm older, but if i met the perfect woman who didn't want to, i wouldn't pressure her into it.

If only more people had given FFIX a fair chance =/

The main problem with DLC is that it makes developers lazy or IT can mean that they release a game that's not finished early and update it. This is the main reason DLC is bad and why games such as Fallout: New Vegas and Gran Turismo 5 take the piss a bit by saying 'it'll get better with future updates.' I expect updates when i'm playing a pc game, but a console game for me was - buy the game, whack it in the console, play it - and everything is there for me to enjoy. DLC obviously isn't all bad, as games like Rock Band make it so that if your favourite song isn't there, download it. Map packs for shooters really do take the biscuit with the 'high for the content' prices though. I also hate DLC which means you skip hours of play, like that DLC for Bad Company 2 which means you unlock all of the guns...come on. At least it is optional for the most part. I really just hope they leave RPGs (meaning mainly jrpgs) out of it though, i know extra missions and story can provide more hours of gameplay but for games of that scope and size it could potentially ruin the experience and the story which would be better suited to a whole new sequel.

Not overly impressed with this gen, i'd rate it good at best. I hate DLC, i remember when you bought a game and that was it, enjoy. Plus constant patches to make a game work properly is very annoying. I find myself playing my SNES and PS2 a lot more than my current consoles. Although i always look forward to the next Mario game, Final Fantasy, plus totally new and great franchises, which sadly seem to be few and far between due to companies afraid of losing money. Really looking forward to the 3DS though. Although the consoles, (in my opinion), aren't quite as good as their predecessors, the DS has been the best handheld console i've ever played.

I love christmas, i just hate the pre-christmas stress of buying and wrapping all the presents, which as of today is finally done wahey! I'm also working this christmas....7 day week which runs over christmas weekend

While i liked Fallout 3 and agree it's a great game, it doesn't really deserve to win against what's left. But that's only because the competition is so good!

Ah, quite close then Looks like Wind Waker will lose, but once again both are fantastic games. I do prefer Wind Waker, but it's nice to see Majora's Mask is getting some much needed love considering it's always been overshadowed by Ocarina of Time.

Shame i missed voting on this til now. Melee and FF9 are both better than their sequels in my opinion, but FF9 didn't reallystand a chance against 10. Does anyone know how close Melee vs Brawl was?

Wii Super Mario Galaxy 2 - Awesome game from beginning to end Goldeneye 007 - Brilliant shooter, best shooter on the wii that i've played. Super Mario Allstars - Shame there isn't more games on the disc but the history book and soundtrack make up for it, was cheap too. Sin and Punishment: Successor of the Skies - Good game, need to play it more. Monster Hunter Tri - Ashamed to say i haven't played it yet, but i've heard very good things about it Xbox360 Red Dead Redemption - Brilliant game, much better than GTA4 Halo Reach - My personal favourite of the Halo games, so much to do and it's all good. Good story too, but not everyone thinks so it seems Rock Band 3 - Probably the best rock band game, great soundtrack and gameplay. It's just a shame the music game genre isn't selling well anymore Super Street Fighter 4 - Good game, i'm just shit at it! DS Dragon Quest 9 - Good rpg, but i personally enjoy Final Fantasy games more, story is too simple for my liking, but the enemies such as the slimes add great personality to this game, must finish it sometime PS3 Final Fantasy 13 - Without a doubt, my favourite game released this year. Great story, good music and good gameplay. It's such a shame this game has so many flaws such as the lack of the classic victory fanfare, bad ending and the lack of world maps/airships/shops. Still i spent hours on this. Call of Duty: Black Ops - The best CoD i've played, loved the story and dead ops arcade was a fantastic surprise Modnation Racers - Big disappointment, it's no mario kart, rather just a bland kart racer with track and kart editting tools. Commentary is quite funny in places Gran Turismo 5 - Great and disappointing at the same time. I burned out on this playing it solid for a week. The same good old GT gameplay mixed with long loading times, a soundtrack which isn't as good as it's predecessors and a levelling system which really annoyed me. Still a great game though

If i remember correctly, DKC2 didn't have a snow world, though it did have ice levels.

I have the same problem, bloody christmas

I got this through today from game and i'm yet to pop the game in, but i expect it to be the same as mario allstars on the snes, which it is really. But anyway, i'm really pleased with this. The boxart is really nice, a bit too tall to fit with my other wii games unfortunately though. The booklet, while small is really interesting and it shows the boxart for all the european and japanese games, there's also some comments from miyamoto and some concept drawins by him as well. Finally, i'm currently listening to the music CD, in a word awesome. I may even track down the soundtrack CD's to some of the other mario games, Galaxy 1 and 2 i'm particularly interested in. Personally, i thought it was worth the £20 i paid for it.

I also experienced that today, annoying De-icing a car 3 times in one day is also annoying. Well it was more de-snowing but yeah.

Retro consoles worth checking out?
Arnieboy replied to Pookiablo's topic in General Gaming Discussion
I'd quite like a Vectrex, such an interesting looking thing. -
Is it really though? I'm still buying it, if not just for the book, boxart and soundtrack. At least it's only £20 - an easy £20 for Nintendo but hey

People just hate water levels i guess. I also don't like them usually but i enjoyed DKC's style of water levels, even if they're not my favourites overall. Mario or Zelda's water levels on the other hand *shudder*
-
Bramble Blast is, and always will be my all time favourite. Great music, good level. After that i suppose any mine kart/rollercoaster level and the snow levels from DKC1 have to be up there, especially the one where it gets heavier the further you get into the level.
-
Oh wait, i get what your doing now, you've been pessimistic so that you enjoy it more when it gets here. Gotcha
-
So a Donkey Kong Country game must have Enguard in it which means Returns isn't a DKC game, yet DKC2 and 3 didn't have Donkey Kong (the title of the bloody game!) as a playable character but they're still okay? That's like having a game called Mario 4 and having just Luigi as the playable character, but it's okay because Yoshi's in it.
-
Are you joking or did you honestly not know about that? That was announced a-g-e-s ago The only drawback i'm seeing is that you have to waggle to roll, but i'm sure i'll get used to it. Looks fantastic..and i have to wait an extra 22 days at least
