It just seems like such a horrible over-reaction to me. To keep the forums running smooth you have to have effective moderators. We came to the conclusion that the moderator positions needed to be re-assesed. There were moderators from CE who just were not about as much as they needed to be, there was too much inaction and some were conducting themselves in a manner that was not befitting of a moderator. It was a decision to be made by admins, and it was made by admins. Moderators have a job to moderate, to keep the peace, and to be an approachable member of these forums - its not just a title that looks important. Believe it or not but the admins here do know what goes on, who's who and notice members who stand out as exceptional contributors. We're constantly keeping an eye on things. I think its good that we can discuss this topic out in the open, even if you're unhappy with what has happened we are willing to hear your concerns. The position of a moderator is one that should be almost totally transparent, if they do their job well you should barely notice them.

When's the next election. I'll vote!

Thank you for all your opinions. Sort of shows why the decisions are made by the ones at the top, or we'd be deciding on this kind of thing for years. I think you should give all of the new moderators the opportunity to prove themselves before you pass judgement. We feel they are more than capable of their tasks and if you feel otherwise, make sure you do it in a mature and non-offensive manner. Now, for my 2 cents... I'd just like to point out out that Jordan and Offerman were still moderators until they CHOSE to either delete themselves or drop their status. We needed more active and responsible moderators - we need them to keep the forums running! Personally I do not understand Jordan's reaction to all of this. He would still be the primary moderator of these forums. He chose to de-mod hmself for whatever reason, and it's a pity that he did. But I think he's shown his true colours and in doing so he has confirmed that he would be unfit for the admin position that he obviously had his sights set on.

I'm hopeless in saying something in these situations. All I can say is that you're a totally switched on kinda guy, Ash, and you have my respect. Oh, and I'd be ready to go postal if the coppers erased my computer. There's gotta be laws against destroying peoples info like that.

Mac users have as much devotion to their computers as Linux users. Not much separates the two communities. You cant say the same for Microsoft. Most people use Windows begrudgingly. They use Microsoft products because they have to use them. If you wanna be able to upgrade and modify your hardware and strap strobe lights and whatnot to the insides of your computer and play alot of games - go PC. If you want a computer that runs smooth as a baby's ass with a stack of high end apps running, looks slick, is easy as pie to use, I'd be considering a Mac.

In Austrialia we're getting raped by our Conservative-Right government who holds the majority in the upper and lower house. They're using the opportunity of having the majority in the senate to pass all sorts of horrible bullshit. They're constantly pushing for more 'Terrorism Laws' - basically making it possible for them to arrest who they want for no apparent reason and making it illegal for the media to report on any arrests if they wish. Plus heaps more crap like that. They're also about to reform our industrial relation laws, abolishing all sorts of safeguards to stop workers being fucked around by their employers - ie: its possible that workers could soon be forced by employers to give up holidays/sick leave/overtime rates etc in return for a slight pay rise. As well as trying to take away power from unions etc. Finally, the current government is trying to pass a bill that makes University union fees volountary. These fees go towards a heap of important services (councelling, employment services, cheap textbooks, sporting facilities/events, cheap beer and so on) but unfortunately as most Uni students are poor bums they wouldn't pay the fee if they could avoid it (even though they would want the services). It's part of the Conservative-Right's crusade againt unionism. And it makes me furious.

You'd have to be careful with designing the wall pictures....you want to make it sexually suggestive but without exciting whoever is at the urinal too much....if you know what I mean - you don't want guys uncontrollably peeing over the walls.
