Tellyn Posted September 30, 2006 Posted September 30, 2006 The point of the blue light. MIND BEAM!!!!!!one one Some people play in a dark room and there is no eject-y disk drive, so that's lit up so you know where to put a disc.
insider Posted September 30, 2006 Posted September 30, 2006 About the "Home" button, I asume it's like the button in the 360 controller which pops up the main menu, and the "+", "-" buttons for the changing of the channels, just like the TV remotes. As for the on-screen keyboard, you won't need to use it, if you have a USB keyboard.
ZeldaFreak Posted September 30, 2006 Posted September 30, 2006 i wonderif you hae mutiple wiis can you create lan parties, but wireless
arab_freak Posted September 30, 2006 Posted September 30, 2006 I thought there was this "super secret" feature that Nintendo still hasn't revealed (other than the speaker). Is that still going to be announced, or is the speaker the so-called secret? Because if it is, I certainly don't consider worth the secrecy.
myster0n Posted September 30, 2006 Posted September 30, 2006 i wonderif you hae mutiple wiis can you create lan parties, but wireless I think you'll need a router. I believe Wifi ad-hoc mode is only between 2 machines.
AshMat Posted September 30, 2006 Posted September 30, 2006 We haven't heard anything about Disaster: Day of Crisis in aaaaaagees
Charlie Posted September 30, 2006 Author Posted September 30, 2006 I think you'll need a router. I believe Wifi ad-hoc mode is only between 2 machines. Nope, I've had a 3-way WiFi ad-hoc network up and running before. It took ages to get working though....
myster0n Posted September 30, 2006 Posted September 30, 2006 Nope, I've had a 3-way WiFi ad-hoc network up and running before. It took ages to get working though.... What were the difficulties setting this up? Just to see if Nintendo would be able to work around those pitfalls. But now that I think about it : they were able to do it with the DS. Granted, that is't Nintendos own protocol, but they could do the same with the Wii. Suddenly I think that the chances are high that you can have a Wii lan-party without bringing a router. Where do I put the bread? In the PS3 of course. Right next to the sausages.
Caris Posted September 30, 2006 Posted September 30, 2006 +1 Rep to Moria for not using "Wii" in the Topic title.
demonmike04 Posted September 30, 2006 Posted September 30, 2006 The point of the blue light. MIND BEAM!!!!!!one one On the Nintendo fusion tour and apparently the Wii units at the conferences, the blue light wasnt on apparently. Im looking into it now.. EDIT: Looked at conference pictures, light is on. Fusion tour however... Doesnt look very promising, but the picture is taken from a slight distance. EDIT2: Made thread, more proof there. Also, the Wii DS connectivity hasnt been discussed.
steggy Posted October 1, 2006 Posted October 1, 2006 We still don't know if PAL games will support progressive scan. If not I can see a lot of people importing consoles from the US.
Charlie Posted October 1, 2006 Author Posted October 1, 2006 What were the difficulties setting this up? Just to see if Nintendo would be able to work around those pitfalls. I can't really remember, but it was mainly due to the internet coming into 1 PC and sharing it to 2 other computers, the other computers couldn't see each other. I had to put in multiple DNS addresses and stuff. +1 Rep to Moria for not using "Wii" in the Topic title. I hate it how there have been so many puns, its got to the point now where people don't actually say 'we' anymore when talking about the Wii but just change it to 'Wii'. I would expect The Sun to do something like that, but not a dedicated Nintendo forum 5 months after the name was announced.
DCK Posted October 1, 2006 Posted October 1, 2006 Will PAL games be compatible with 50Hz? I hope not. If every game has to be PAL60 region shifting is much easier.
solitanze Posted October 1, 2006 Posted October 1, 2006 We still don't know whether Wii will be a success or failure for Nintendo.
Nintendork Posted October 1, 2006 Posted October 1, 2006 Is the stand a power supply? We still don't know whether Wii will be a success or failure for Nintendo. I call success, it's cheap, it's quiet, it's small, well designed.. fun, accesible. Nintendo has an army of DS owners on right side and a pretty solid launch. The PS3 will get nothing more than a slight utter of press this Christmas in Europe.. I guess Nintendo and Microsoft will have very solid Christmas'
Cube Posted October 1, 2006 Posted October 1, 2006 I hope not. If every game has to be PAL60 region shifting is much easier. And I'll have to buy a new TV card. Is the stand a power supply? No.
Nintendork Posted October 1, 2006 Posted October 1, 2006 I WAS JOKING! GAH THAT DIDN'T NEED A RESPONSE.
DCK Posted October 1, 2006 Posted October 1, 2006 And I'll have to buy a new TV card. What lame TV card doesn't support 60 Hz? Did you buy it in 1978?

mcj metroid Posted October 1, 2006 Posted October 1, 2006 is it confirmed region coded then after all?
Nintendork Posted October 1, 2006 Posted October 1, 2006 I don't know tbh.. cynics will say yes. It doesn't make sense why they would to me, I think Nintendo UK's David Yarnton has a reputation of being an absolute dick head. 'DS is definitely not getting a remake'- 2 days later Iwata unveils the DS lite in 3 new colours. I've not seen anything from Nintendo of America/Japan that says explicitly Wii games will be region coded. Not that I've been looking that hard because I want it to be untrue. Edit- Nintendo of America spokesperson (no name accountable to this statement) via Joystiq says that the Wii and all first party titles will be region locked. No mention of third party titles.. the statement says that there have been conflicting reports. I'd like to hear it from Reggie or Iwata if I'm honest..
McMad Posted October 1, 2006 Posted October 1, 2006 I think David Yarnton is a dick head too, he'll probably be the next Phil Harrison. Well at least we have Reggie. Have we heard anything about Project Hammer recently?
Nintendork Posted October 1, 2006 Posted October 1, 2006 Was a little clip on the Japanese site, about 2 seconds long. Nothing impressive. I think it's gonna be a relatively shallow game where you just destroy stuff, comic-esque.
