Mikey Posted September 28, 2006 Posted September 28, 2006 Oh Gross. Where the hell did that come from? Is that one of the GameCube pad designs from before the console was released?
dabookerman Posted September 28, 2006 Posted September 28, 2006 If your looking at some skinny ass thing, then it probably is
Skitter2.9 Posted September 28, 2006 Posted September 28, 2006 I belive thats the wavebird prototype. Kinda ugly, eh?
EchoDesiato Posted September 28, 2006 Posted September 28, 2006 I'm glad they decided to lose the kidney-shaped b-button.
pedrocasilva Posted September 28, 2006 Posted September 28, 2006 Can't see the image, but I take it is a Wavebird from Spaceworld 2000... here's more prototype controllers:
triforcemario Posted September 28, 2006 Posted September 28, 2006 Yes, its a very intresting hotlinking picture, isn't it? Edit: I'm talking about the first post made here.
pedrocasilva Posted September 28, 2006 Posted September 28, 2006 Edit: I'm talking about the first post made here.I know, since I uploaded those photos now from my HDD :p (couldn't be hotlinking). Well... technically it is, hotlinking from imageshack.us
triforcemario Posted September 28, 2006 Posted September 28, 2006 Looking at those pics you posted, pedrocasilva, it looks like a hybrid between the PS3 boomerang, the GC controller and a badly made didlo :P
pedrocasilva Posted September 28, 2006 Posted September 28, 2006 Looking at those pics you posted, pedrocasilva, it looks like a hybrid between the PS3 boomerang, the GC controller and a badly made didlo :PIt was highly inspired on a arcade joystick "kind-of-thing" I think, or perhaps a little virtual boy: The D-pad on GC was actually a last minute addiction.
Mikey Posted September 28, 2006 Author Posted September 28, 2006 Yes, its a very intresting hotlinking picture, isn't it? Edit: I'm talking about the first post made here. I think you meant hot linked, not hot linking.
Cube Posted September 28, 2006 Posted September 28, 2006 The D-pad on GC was actually a last minute addiction. The C-Stick was added later (after they kept changing it to/from buttons). It isn't even attached to the main circuit board.
pedrocasilva Posted September 28, 2006 Posted September 28, 2006 The C-Stick was added later (after they kept changing it to/from buttons). It isn't even attached to the main circuit board.I never read it reported like that, as far as I know... it was always supposed to be there. I've read the D-pad wasn't though, and saw pictures of the prototype lacking it. Here's a really early IGN mock-up (before SW2000), from what they knew at the time: It already had the C-stick at the same place.
Shino Posted September 28, 2006 Posted September 28, 2006 Looks like someone liked the design. I have one of these... parents know shit about consoles. But atleast they tried
Kaeporagaebora Posted September 28, 2006 Posted September 28, 2006 Looks like someone liked the design. I have one of these... parents know shit about consoles. But atleast they tried I had one of those, too. I got rid of it as soon as the opportunity arose, though... A complete load of s*** if I remember correctly.
Mikey Posted September 28, 2006 Author Posted September 28, 2006 The only good third party pads are made by Logitech from my experience. But seeing as they didn't make any pads for the GC, you should of just gone official.
chillychili Posted November 13, 2006 Posted November 13, 2006 Where is the "Start/pause" button in those two first that pedrocasilva posted? I mean what were they thinking? A start button is in the controllers of NES,SNES & N64! (And later on game-cube too. ) Is there a start button in Wiimote by the way?

Shorty Posted November 14, 2006 Posted November 14, 2006 Is that a battery pack or are you just happy to see me o_o
Fierce_LiNk Posted November 14, 2006 Posted November 14, 2006 I think the kidney shaped b-button was actually pretty sweet. I sorta wish they kept it. GC pad is excellent, and it would be perfect if they added a larger d-pad. It needed to be just a tiny bit larger.
Din Posted November 14, 2006 Posted November 14, 2006 I've just picked the GameCube pad up for the first time in ages and I had forgotten how comfortable it is. Really good controller.
Guest Stefkov Posted November 14, 2006 Posted November 14, 2006 Looks like someone liked the design. I have one of these... parents know shit about consoles. But atleast they tried I too have one of these. Thos proto pads look awful.... Whats with that lump of a start button? I remember the first ever cube mag i bought had a competition to win a cube. It was a spot the wrong thing which was anywhere in the mag.... It was a kidney shaped b button on the front cover. I was sad.
harribo Posted November 14, 2006 Posted November 14, 2006 Where is the "Start/pause" button in those two first that pedrocasilva posted?I mean what were they thinking? Also the start and select buttons in the Wiimote were replaced by the + and -
