Happenstance Posted February 13, 2008 Posted February 13, 2008 This'll probably make people hate me but I never really liked Ghost In The Shell, I do own it but never could see why everyone loved it.

The emotional implications of "mind" in host body are hipnotizingly well explored. In short, the philosophy. =)
Sanchez Posted February 13, 2008 Posted February 13, 2008 I thought Tokyo Godfathers was better than Paprika. And I loved paprika.
Happenstance Posted February 13, 2008 Posted February 13, 2008 Id say my favourite anime movie would be Spirited Away, mostly because thats what brought me properly into anime but it really was just an amazing movie. As for none Ghibli id probably go with the Cowboy Bebop movie.

Coolness Bears Posted February 13, 2008 Posted February 13, 2008 I've been watching Dragonaut! don't know why. i just have It's not even that good.
Guest Stefkov Posted February 13, 2008 Posted February 13, 2008 I gave up on Dragonaut. It wasn't worth the GBs.
Coolness Bears Posted February 13, 2008 Posted February 13, 2008 I've been streaming it! I haven't been in the mood lately to watch anything serious.
Oxigen_Waste Posted February 13, 2008 Posted February 13, 2008 I thought Tokyo Godfathers was better than Paprika. And I loved paprika. Millenium Actress is better than both. Anyway... Paprika is all about the free-intepretation and the thoughtfull concepts. Ludicrously versatile. I gave up on Dragonaut. It wasn't worth the GBs. So I keep hearing.
Guest Stefkov Posted February 13, 2008 Posted February 13, 2008 The art was nice. I liked the clean lines and the animation. Then they brought in the CG dragons. It destroyed the show. The story wasn't anything new either. The same animation used for when they turn into a dragon and when the other person gets in. I'm glad I stopped and started Higurashi.
Hellfire Posted February 13, 2008 Posted February 13, 2008 It's simple most movies based on shows suck or are medium, stand alone movies can rock like anything else.

Yeah, i didn't like that either the dragons look really out of place. I might drop it. but i continue watching stuff even if it's terrible O____O Higurashi is excellent! I didn't know what i was letting myself in for...
Supergrunch Posted February 13, 2008 Posted February 13, 2008 Higurashi is indeed excellent... and oddly, there'll be a series 3.
Shorty Posted February 14, 2008 Posted February 14, 2008 Yeh Ghibli fan, but not of all the films. Just most of the more popular ones. Most anime series films like FMA and CB, most of the One Piece just don't seem that great. Like an extended episode but worse...Hey. The One Piece movies are awesome. A couple of them are really dark and twisted with bizzare animations nothing like the series. After the first couple of OP movies the anime was getting #1 ratings and the budget jumped up and the movies became seriously high quality. Well, up until 8... and the upcoming 9... which are just cut down retellings of previous arcs.
gaggle64 Posted February 14, 2008 Posted February 14, 2008 Dos anyone else here watch Planetes? I love it. I mean, it's as dull as hell but I find it utterly facinating for that reason. It's the first sci-fi I've ever seen that portrays life in space as just a bit naff.

It's the first sci-fi I've ever seen that portrays life in space as just a bit naff. Seen it and loved it too. It's not about the story, which as you say, is nothing special. It's about the relations between the characters. It's also refreshing to see some realistic sci-fi for a change.

Everything is too rapidly concluded because it's just a short movie...

Raining_again Posted February 14, 2008 Posted February 14, 2008 Bleach 160, what can I say? I cried through most of it Don't die alone :'(
Oxigen_Waste Posted February 14, 2008 Posted February 14, 2008 Bleach 160, what can I say? I cried through most of it Has it got onions? (seriously now... I haven't watched bleach since 120... Think it's time I started again)
Raining_again Posted February 14, 2008 Posted February 14, 2008 Has it got onions? (seriously now... I haven't watched bleach since 120... Think it's time I started again) No, its sad =( "If you were the only person in the world, your heart wouldn't be anywhere"
Oxigen_Waste Posted February 14, 2008 Posted February 14, 2008 No, its sad =( "If you were the only person in the world, your heart wouldn't be anywhere" Oh, so Bleach got another emo breakdown?
Raining_again Posted February 14, 2008 Posted February 14, 2008 Oh, so Bleach got another emo breakdown? Yeah for sure, and lots of flashbacks. ^^ Win for the first few times you watch them, but seriously boring thereon =P
Oxigen_Waste Posted February 14, 2008 Posted February 14, 2008 Oh well... maybe I'll like it. Let us hope.
Roostophe Posted February 14, 2008 Posted February 14, 2008 I'm slightly worried about the quality of later Bleach eps. I thought the first arc was brilliant, I've liked what I've seen so far of the second. But judging by what you lot have said, does it really get a bit naff?
