Lionsan Posted November 1, 2006 Posted November 1, 2006 GameDailt has published a Nintendo statement that they probably won't meet the demand because it's so overwhelming. Retailers have being telling Nintendo they need more units. Factories are running overtime, apparently. Looking good! From the feed back I have had from various sources it seems that things are pretty tight supply wise but that pre-orders will probably be filled. So the nintendo Fanboys are going to be happy. However guess everyone else, i.e. the non-console gamers that apparently Nintendo were targeting, will just miss out this christmas. Guess Nintendo might have fecked it up again and masses just will walk out with XBox360's and then later PS3. The Wii might be another GC?
Twozzok Posted November 1, 2006 Posted November 1, 2006 Does gameplay know their numbers yet? They haven't e-mailed me yet saying wether i'll be getting one on launch or not.

That's a good point..retailers will be pushing the advertising of the Wii over crimbo...but then no one will be able to get one...but then by the time they CAN get one the PS3 will have just come out so they'll be pushing the advertising of that instead of the Wii so people will buy that.
Eenuh Posted November 1, 2006 Posted November 1, 2006 Where did you pre-order one from? Most places ask for a deposit or you should atleast get a reciept for proof. Pre-ordered in MediaMarkt, a big electronics store here. I thought they would ask for a deposit or something, but all they needed was my name and email address or phone number. They said they would call me when they have the units in and will keep one aside... but I don't really trust them to not mess up.
Alan77 Posted November 1, 2006 Posted November 1, 2006 All this worry about not getting a Wii because of huge pre-order numbers is crap. I bet most people have pre-ordered more than 1 Wii (I know I have) and therefore there will be pre-orders cancelled on the day. I bet you could stroll into town and get one pretty easily without pre-ordering. Play having 7000 pre-orders is (if even true) down to Play being the first place to offer pre-orders. I bet everyone also went elsewhere and, if Play can't fulfill orders then people will get it from their 2nd/3rd choice.
That Guy Posted November 1, 2006 Posted November 1, 2006 you don't ahve to pay until http://www.gameplay.com dispatch. Plus, their's is more likely to arrive on time. Thanks. It was going really well until it said I can't have it delivered to my dad at work it needs to be the same as my billing address. Looks like I'll be booking the Friday off then to stay in to pick up my Wii in the post. With Gameplay, will it definitely arrive on the Friday?
Kazzahdrane Posted November 1, 2006 Posted November 1, 2006 Couldn't you ask to do that shift or swap with someone? I'm sure there will be someone who doesn't want to have to work at midnight... I *could*, except the manager wants me in for the actual Friday itself since it will be pretty busy then too. We shall see, depending on how many more pre-orders we take he might want more people to work the launch.

Thats what i want to know, i was gonna order from amazon but if gameplay deliver on release im going there.
CoolFunkMan Posted November 1, 2006 Posted November 1, 2006 It may have something to do with the fact that they make money of the console and hence pays his wage. I think your complementing game a bit too much , all they want to do is make money LOL, I did kinda think that too tbh. Still, was a funny incident. Oh, and I checked the trade in Value for Tomb Raider, Deus Ex and Panzer Dragoon (as my mate wanted to know so he could beat thier price) and guess how much they offered me? ....11 quid. That's it, 11 sodding quid!! It's a bloody scandal, not even 1/3 of the price they charge for TR alone. Methinks my mate is willing to pay more, and I'm seriously considering selling on my games elsewhere...
Zell Posted November 1, 2006 Posted November 1, 2006 Thats what i want to know, i was gonna order from amazon but if gameplay deliver on release im going there. Same here, I'm getting real edgey with amazon, so if they dont start taking pre-orders by friday I'll just go to gameplay. I want to pre-order with amazon because they're reliable (got my DS the day it was released) and usually cheaper.

Methinks my mate is willing to pay more, and I'm seriously considering selling on my games elsewhere... If you have a nearby Gamestation, they will almost always beat trade-in values at GAME (I see it every day) and failing that they will actually price-match the trade-in value, in fact beating it by £1. It's a company policy (all the "We won't be beaten on trade-ins" stickers on new games). And no, my store doesn't know it's stock allocation yet. We've taken about 125 pre-order afaik and the manager expects we'll be told to stop soonish. However, I know that about a month ago the company had only used 60% of its expected allocation in pre-orders. Whether that allocation has gone up or down I don't know - will of course put anything I hear up here.
gj15987 Posted November 3, 2006 Posted November 3, 2006 I've cancelled my pre order at GAME and pre ordered it from Woolworths instead because my friend gets 20% staff discount. I hope Woolies don't fuck up and end up not getting any on release.
ZeldaFreak Posted November 3, 2006 Posted November 3, 2006 I have to wait one week longer than the rest of you, because hull city center at night when thechavs run out ain't pretty, don't want to be mugged
gj15987 Posted November 3, 2006 Posted November 3, 2006 Who else has pre ordered from Woolworths? I'm paranoid now that they'll fuck up and all the Wiis will go to the specialist game stores.

It's just over a month to go, they should know by now right? I still have my 360 confirmation email, it's dated around 16th November 2005 i believe. I reckon you'll get a email the same-time for the Wii, so in a couple of weeks you should know if Gameplay can allocate you one.
Stocka Posted November 3, 2006 Posted November 3, 2006 Play.com prices back up to £37.99 I ordered Red Steel and Twilight Princess for £32.99 and £27.99(used a £5 off offer thing) and that shouldn't change right?

Unless they make a typo or something, they're not allowed to change the price if you're already ordered it.
conzer16 Posted November 4, 2006 Posted November 4, 2006 Do amazon.co.uk ship video-games to Ireland?
Jasper Posted November 4, 2006 Posted November 4, 2006 From the feed back I have had from various sources it seems that things are pretty tight supply wise but that pre-orders will probably be filled. First, I'de like to point out that I believe GameDaily more than an opinion of one person. Second, I doubt Wii will become the next GameCube. GameCube never knew the support of so many developers. GameCube never really got off in the first place, and purple wasn't the color that people liked to look at. Nintendo will reach out to the larger audience and attract none-gamers. Why? The reason these non-gamers don't game is because of the difficulty of the controllers and such. So if they go to the store, they won't just start buying an Xbox - that doesn't make sense. They'll wait for Wii or try it in-store and know that it's worth waiting for. i'm not being fanboy-ish, but it just doesn't make sense to me why it wouldn't be like this. On topic, though, my local Game Mania store got 49 preorders (but actually, a total of 109 people pre-ordered the system at the store, of wich the remaining 60 have not paid for their pre-order and therefor can only go and buy it one day one. Didn't really catch how it works, though), wich is pretty good for such a small store. I'm thirteenth on the list and the counterboys (Danny and Wouter) told me the chances were high they could fill my pre-order. But they're not quite sure they can fill half of them on launch day. It's looking positif. Now perhaps it's time I shut up, I'm way past my 200 character limit, wich, only exists in my mind.
