Sheikah Posted September 8, 2008 Posted September 8, 2008 wow.... thats just PC aswell. I think the Mac and PC version are combined in 1 box?
Guest Stefkov Posted September 8, 2008 Posted September 8, 2008 Yes the disc is mac and pc compatiblé. Says so on the box. And PC is a personal computer not just windows computers.
Gizmo Posted September 8, 2008 Posted September 8, 2008 Wow, I'm surprised it beat Mercs 2. Basically every 15-19 year old I know who has an Xbox is buying that freaking game.
Dante Posted September 8, 2008 Posted September 8, 2008 Wow, I'm surprised it beat Mercs 2. Basically every 15-19 year old I know who has an Xbox is buying that freaking game. ‘Mercenaries 2: World in Flames’. ‘Mercenaries 2’ sells 60% on Xbox 360 and 33% on PS3 with the remainer on PS2 and PC. ‘Tiger Woods PGA Tour 09’ is the only game in the All Formats Top 10 to rise in sales, up 9% on last week, but it still has to settle for 2nd place. ‘Spore’, designed by Sims creator Will Wright is only 1,162 units behind at No3, handing EA a clean sweep of the Top 3 games. Sales of ‘Spore’ account for 53% of all full priced PC games sold this week. Me too but Mercenaries 2 and Spore are shown on tv quite alot but i am surpised that mario kart wii/wii fit and wii play are still selling well.
Tellyn Posted September 8, 2008 Posted September 8, 2008 I really want this game. What are the minimum specs on the box for it? http://systemrequirementslab.com MadDog just gave me that link. My laptop will run it fine, I'm happy.
Shino Posted September 9, 2008 Posted September 9, 2008 Just did some DeathStar drive by. Not as thrilling as I expected.
martinist Posted September 9, 2008 Posted September 9, 2008 Just arrived today, installed it and started playing. I have a few questions though; First of all what the heck does the siren song do? also how can i change my dance, song or pose? whenever i try and socialise with other creatures i keep doing different songs or poses and what-not how do i change it so i can copy them?

Anyway who wants to start a petition for getting Will Wright, Peter Molyneux, Sid Meier and the dudes from Total War, together for the most awesome game ever made for the rest of time? Am I the only one that wants this?

Fresh Posted September 9, 2008 Posted September 9, 2008 I honestly have been thoroughly disappointed with this game. For a game that prides itself on variety it's shockingly linear.
Cube Posted September 10, 2008 Posted September 10, 2008 I decided to give this game a go. I'll put my impressions in the forms of the stages. Cell Phase: Simple and fun. Pretty much the perfect introduction for the game. Creature Phase: Also a lot of fun. I was also very surprised when I was attacked by a pack of Yoshi (I had him from the Creature Creator, I totally forgot about all those creatures). Unfortunately that was the only creature of mine that I saw. I would also have liked this to go on for a little bit longer (which is always an option, I guess). Tribal Stage: I'm glad this was short. It's pretty slow and extremely boring. Civilization Phase: Is OK, I suppose. Although it really annoyed me near the start - A large creature attacked my city and my tanks refused to attack it. I had to buy around 20 turrets in total because of it. Space Phase: Started off very annoying - a mission required me to collect something from a planet. Doing that inadvertently started a war with a fairly large empire, and so I got attacked a lot. I've now managed to wipe them from the galaxy. Now that I'm able to do a lot, it's becoming much more fun. I've also found a few planets with my creatures on it. At first I didn't like that you had one ship (plus a small number of allies) but now I prefer it to an RTS-style thing. It's massively exceeded my expectations (It's a Will Wright game, so I thought that it was going to be absolutely boring).
Sheikah Posted September 10, 2008 Posted September 10, 2008 My only problem now is the Grox Empire (the big bad mothers living in the center). Anyone know a surefire way to get these guys done in swiftly?
Cube Posted September 10, 2008 Posted September 10, 2008 My only problem now is the Grox Empire (the big bad mothers living in the center). Anyone know a surefire way to get these guys done in swiftly? From what I can tell, it's possible to ally with them. Doing so causes everyone else to start a war with you, so it isn't a great option. Terraforming a planet will destroy all Grox cities on the planet. Unfortunately there seems to be thousands of Grox planets. So I decided to cheat (as the Grox territory just looked ridiculous) and work my way to the galactic core (which was a massive pain). You get a cool cutscene and get given the Staff of Life. Which has 42 uses (awesome). It completely terraforms a planet. So it isn't really that useful, especially with the Grox.
Shino Posted September 10, 2008 Posted September 10, 2008 The amounts of planets is just insane. Do you guys use cheats?
Apple_NdiB Posted September 11, 2008 Posted September 11, 2008 I'm stuck in an impossible loop in the Space stage; I've been playing the game peacefully throughout, focusing on diplomacy and cooperation, and because I told a couple of empires to piss off when they asked for a tribute I'm now at war with them. They keep attacking my homeworld, I fly down to sort them out and as soon as I leave again they're back at it. Of course, I'm too weak militarily to attack their homeworld, and I haven't got enough money left to pay them off or spice to make it, so there's nothing I can do to stop them. I may have to start again, which would be a huge waste of time considering the hours I put into my current race.

Bren Posted September 13, 2008 Posted September 13, 2008 I somehow acquired this today ;D and i have to say it's not for me. Its so god dam boring, and the creature creator isnt really all that great, they just end up looking stupid!

Its so god dam boring, and the creature creator isnt really all that great, they just end up looking stupid! You have to get past the first stage in order for there to see the main gameplay. What about it did you find boring? I find it boring after doing most of the stuff in the space stage and constantly being attacked by the undefeatable Grox, but at your stage there was still stuff to do.

Well i have to say maybe i was a bit wrong, the start of the game was a bit crap, the cell stage, and land stage did my head in but then it got interesting at the tribe stage, loved that bit, and love the civilization bit, now im on the space bit and its a bit overwhelming. I thought i didnt like it, i started playing at like 11:30, its now 5am :/ Will see what i think of it overall after a good play of the space bit tomorow.
