Retro_Link Posted April 23, 2006 Posted April 23, 2006 http://www.cubed3.com/news/4960 N-Sider.com is reporting Shigeru Miyamoto has confirmed to Famitsu magazine that the Tokyo development team behind Donkey Kong: Jungle Beat is working on a new DK game for the Revolution, specifically using the new control system instead of bongos. Miyamoto is overseeing the project and it should appear at E3. Confirmation it should be at E3 and probably a launch title!
Sooj Posted April 23, 2006 Posted April 23, 2006 I don't mind 2D but I think they should opt for Donkey Kong to go in a different direction this time, no?
Hellfire Posted April 23, 2006 Posted April 23, 2006 It could be 3D. Either way, don't care just as long as it rocks, just like Jungle Beat
myster0n Posted April 23, 2006 Posted April 23, 2006 Hmmm ... I wonder what the controls will be like. If it's inspired by Jungle Beat (I really liked controlling DK with the bongos) it could be something like : left : spin counter-clockwise right : spin clockwise jump : up clap : ... eh ... down? This would give the same overall feel as DK Jungle Beat. And as a bonus it would look a bit as if you're conducting an orchestra. Should be fun.
Jamba Posted April 23, 2006 Posted April 23, 2006 I don't mind 2D but I think they should opt for Donkey Kong to go in a different direction this time, no? Like left you mean? Gaffaw!!!
djamb3 Posted April 23, 2006 Posted April 23, 2006 Humm after both jungle beat and the one from n64 in 3d I can have no doubt choosing the 2d as the better but.... IMO.
Mike Posted April 24, 2006 Posted April 24, 2006 Wasn't Donley Kong for Revolution confirmed at E3 last year? In any case, I'm glad that the people behind Jungle Beat are making it - that was a brilliant game. Fantastic control system, well-designed levels, gorgeous 2D graphics, and best of all, no Diddy!
Nintendork Posted April 24, 2006 Posted April 24, 2006 It was confirmed but not confirmed as a launch title, so far from Nintendo we've got Mario 128, Donkey Kong, Smash Bros. Zelda Twilight Princess and apparently 2 or 3 more. Harrison said a third are first party on launch.. I'm not sure if Retro studios counts as first party.. it is a first party series really but Metroid is expected on launch. Expect 1 or 2 more games I guess- Miyamoto has a secret new IP, so maybe the last will be Animal Crossing. Very curious about the control scheme.. Maybe it's as simple as using the FHC as a drum stick instead of buying bongos?
gorrit Posted April 24, 2006 Posted April 24, 2006 Wohoo, I loved Jungle Beat, the best platformer I played last year.
Social Posted April 24, 2006 Posted April 24, 2006 This could prove to be very fun indeed without the bulky bongo's that hurt your hands
21st century cowboy Posted April 24, 2006 Posted April 24, 2006 The same team behind this made Sunshine as well so you never know it could be like DK 64. Heres hoping. It was one of my top 3 N64 games.
Owen Posted April 24, 2006 Posted April 24, 2006 Wasn't to keen on Donkey Kong 64 (god knows why) but loved Donkey Kong: Jungle Beat! So pleased there making a game with Donkey Kong and it could well be a launch title!
Charlie Posted April 24, 2006 Posted April 24, 2006 Hopefully it'll be similar to the N64 version of DK. That was such a good game, last good game Rare ever made for Nintendo....
skarmachild Posted April 24, 2006 Posted April 24, 2006 The same team behind this made Sunshine as well so you never know it could be like DK 64. Heres hoping. It was one of my top 3 N64 games. Hmm, I coulden't stand DK64. Well - didn't like it much. Jungle Beat was awesome and graphically outstounding though.
21st century cowboy Posted April 24, 2006 Posted April 24, 2006 To be honest I have not played Jungle Beat. The bongos did kinda put me off. If the Rev game is different to this I might pick it up in the hols.
ShadowV7 Posted April 24, 2006 Posted April 24, 2006 I enjoyed DK 64 even though I havn't completed it.Never played Konga or Jungle beat.
pedrocasilva Posted April 24, 2006 Posted April 24, 2006 Junglebeat was awesome indeed, keep them comming Nintendo... they already have like... a year of development so... who knows it might be ready for launch.
Retro_Link Posted April 24, 2006 Author Posted April 24, 2006 Here's hoping it has an intro theme as good as the DK rap or this; http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-8855214138563313764&q=donkey+kong&pl=true
Yoshiking Posted April 24, 2006 Posted April 24, 2006 DK 64 was the only Donkey Kong game I ever truly loved. Jungle Beat was ok, lasted me about 2 days and it was completed, and that was without constant playing. Let's hope they go more DK 64.. Which they probably won't. Oh well.
skarmachild Posted April 24, 2006 Posted April 24, 2006 To be honest I have not played Jungle Beat. The bongos did kinda put me off. If the Rev game is different to this I might pick it up in the hols. Not many people have said it - but I think Jungle Beat is a bongo-based tour de force. The graphics, music and how you control it all combine to make an amazing experience. Play a few levels and you'll love it.
ShadowV7 Posted April 24, 2006 Posted April 24, 2006 I'm gonna pick up Donkey Konga soon though, only £20 up at my ASDA which isn't to bad.
