Stocka Posted April 6, 2006 Posted April 6, 2006 http://everythingandnothing.org.uk/vg/worldtotals.php Very very interesting. Nice to see Nintendo holding onto the top 11 spots! Mario Party 5 sold 2 million worldwide...wtf...and Nintendogs has sold ... ....5.42 million  I thought Ocarina of Time would of sold a lot more tbh, heck Final Fantasy XII sold more in a week than OOT ever in Japan (it was nearly 2 million).
Nintendork Posted April 7, 2006 Posted April 7, 2006 Erm, Myst was the best selling computer game ever for the PC until the late 90s when Maxxis came along with a series called the Sims. While I don't regard the Sims as a computer game, and I do to Myst.. the Sims is the greatest selling computer game ever. Neither games are on this list, of course the Sims for PS2 will have sold fuck all.. it's the PC game that sold. The list should include PC games really, as they're still computer games- otherwise Nintendo wouldn't have a leg to stand on outside of Pokemon and Mario, but it's still quite a feat.
faz99 Posted April 7, 2006 Posted April 7, 2006 That's true about the Sims, people seem to buy it like trolls.
Gaijin von Snikbah Posted April 7, 2006 Posted April 7, 2006 No wonder where Nintendo gets it money from. 29 million Super Mario Bros in North America is insane. Games today can only dream of selling that much. I guess Nintendo where right about there being less "gamers" today.
mike-zim Posted April 7, 2006 Posted April 7, 2006 look at those duck hunt figures. america loved that game.
ShadowV7 Posted April 7, 2006 Posted April 7, 2006 look at those duck hunt figures. america loved that game. Because the game was about a type of food.Thought OOT would of sold more than that
the_mars_volta Posted April 7, 2006 Posted April 7, 2006 (edited) Wow, I can't believe Diddy Kong Racing sold more than Zelda: A Link To The Past!!! . Looking at those figures, it could be argued that both The Wind Waker and The Minish Cap were failures. ________ Lesbian Asslicking Edited April 2, 2011 by the_mars_volta
ndreamer Posted April 8, 2006 Posted April 8, 2006 MM was released near the end of the n64 life, im surprised how many copies of duck hunt sold but it only sold well in america.
McMad Posted April 8, 2006 Posted April 8, 2006 Hell yes Final Fantasy VII nearly sold 10 milllion copies and sold better than all the other Final Fantasies. Justice is served.
KKOB Posted April 8, 2006 Posted April 8, 2006 pretty good list! glad to see nintendo well and truely cleaning up even if most of its highest games are from the pre 32 bit era
Calibur Posted April 8, 2006 Posted April 8, 2006 :p Hopefully we can get some Rev games or DS games at the top of that list someday.
Jamba Posted April 10, 2006 Posted April 10, 2006 WTF! Pokemon Card Trader sold more than Mario Kart DS! Blasphemy!
dabookerman Posted May 2, 2006 Posted May 2, 2006 WTF! Pokemon Card Trader sold more than Mario Kart DS! Blasphemy! seeing as the game was released at the hieght of the pokemon card phenomenon, and the game is quite decent aswell.
mike-zim Posted May 2, 2006 Posted May 2, 2006 also mariokart DS is still on sale so those figure will get better i doubt anyone is buying the card trading game now. EDIT: also i cant believe that of the 633 games listed only 16 of them were on SEGA systems
Kurtle Squad Posted May 3, 2006 Posted May 3, 2006 SSBM didn't even sell half of the last 2 GTAs; and both the Halos outsold it. That's really really sad.... EDIT: also i cant believe that of the 633 games listed only 16 of them were on SEGA systems It's because SEGA only dominated in Europe.
Blue_Ninja0 Posted May 6, 2006 Posted May 6, 2006 Do we have any proof this is accurate? I'm a bit skeptical... But nice find.
JoeTrumpet Posted May 21, 2006 Posted May 21, 2006 Super Mario Bros. and Duck Hunt were included with the NES in the American release. Otherwise we wouldn't have Duck Hunt on the list of best-selling games ever :p good thing we do.
masaki86 Posted May 21, 2006 Posted May 21, 2006 I thought Ocarina of Time would of sold a lot more tbh, heck Final Fantasy XII sold more in a week than OOT ever in Japan (it was nearly 2 million). Historically; Zelda games have sold 'well' in japan, but they never create the panic and bying of the FF and DQ series. 1 million plus is what Zelda games seem to achieve, but selling 1 million isn't necessarily easy.
Kurtle Squad Posted May 22, 2006 Posted May 22, 2006 Yeah...That list is wrong...Isn't The Sims supposed to be the biggest selling PC game!?...And yet teh only PC games that has is Tomb Raiders 1-3...Ahh...there's a thing at the bottom, heh
The Bard Posted May 24, 2006 Posted May 24, 2006 I hate people. Finally, someone I can relate to. : peace: As a wise man once said: "People are bastard coated bastards with bastard centres." EDIT: Nice to see Metroid Prime, Chrono Trigger and Final Fantasy 7 on there.
