Sherlock Holmes

It was alright. Ridiculous, which it wanted to be and entertaining. Left something to be desired. Is it me, or is this the gayest film I've ever seen? And trust me, I know my faggotry.

I've never seen it, but I got the impression from the trailer that Watson and Holmes bicker like they're married, and look like they're about to drop everything and passionately and roughly make out at any moment.

Futurama - the latest one

Forgot how much I loved futurama. Amusing and pretty and silly twist and turns. The ending was rather exciting and everythink. And Zappp Brannigan always helps.

8 / 10

Juno

The first time watching I was too preoccupied by the (aweesome) soundtrack to realize what a good film it is. The dialogue veers on irritating rather than clever though. Owel. Good to see the chap from Arrested Development also.

9 / 10

Zack and Miri Make a Porno

It was amusing enough, aside from the slightly soppy ending and such. Seth Rogen is pretty much the man. Cheap laughs all around but I lyked.

7 / 10

Really really liked. All very understated and deapan, doesn't have very much going for it but that worked for me. I was in the mood 'n stuff. And it has Zooey, who could sit there doing her fingernails and it would still be the most amazing thing ever.

8.5 /10

Sorority Row

Absolutely adore this film. Uberly bitchy? Check. "Claire. I like being your friend because... it makes me multicultural without having to do anything." Uberly Slutty? Check. When she's making out with the new student and he says something along the lines of "You taste like vomit" and she replies with "Yeah, I threw up earlier, but I just had a breath mint so its fine. Now warm me up, I'm cold down there". Some of the deaths are amazing too, they actually feel like they had some thought put into them for once.

It's utterly ridiculous, and yet it manages to be horrifyingly enjoyable. The best teen horror film since Scream (Not that Scream is your run-of-the-mill "Teen Horror")....not that a title such as that is had to achieve. But still.

Jessica is also the best on screen bitch I've seen for years, and yet I ended up caring more about her than the other characters. Perhaps that says something about me...

Love.

I KNOW! It's just brilliant. I loved it.

Avatar...for the fourth time

Every time I watch this movie, the more I fall in love with it. Absolutely brilliant.

The Fourth Kind

Good movie and I love Milla Jovovovich. I don't know if it is really real footage but it's enough to scare any believers of life in outer space.

What you believe is yours to decide :heh:

Good movie.

Christ, it was abysmal. One of the most boring commercial films I have ever seen. Went to see it with my brother and sisters...just amazingly dull. At least something like The Happening had the decency to be hysterically shit.

I've never laughed so much in the cinema than when I saw The Happening with some friends. Actually crying with laughter throughout the entire movie, it was brilliantly abysmal.

Wohooo! I love that film, but I don't think it's a particularly well known film. I've rarely met people who have seen it. :(

It's also got a cracking soundtrack! Definitely not for everyone, but it's quite quirky I think.

To be honest, it was quite shit but the movie was funny to me. I know it never meant to be but I just found it funny hence how I found it entertaining. If I were to rate the movie instead of my enjoyment of watching it, it would definitely be a 2 but I had a laugh and Milla Jovovich is in it (who I love) hence why I gave it a 6. What cracked me up I think was all through the movie, "What you believe is yours to decide" was said and I'm like "You believe heavily in special effects, I know that much!".

Plus Milla Jovovich!!! She makes it a 5 easily! (kind of love her, lol and I spelt her name right this time). I told one of my mates (firm believer in aliens) to watch this and she was shit-scared, lmao.

I thought it was funny too. I forgot what it was about but if I'm right, the ending was just absolutely ridiculous just like the entire movie.

The Road

Possibly the most depressing film I've ever seen.

...one of the characters discussed killing themselves. I overheard someone on the way out of the cinema saying "why would anyone write that film?". Bleak.

Good though.

7/10

Daybreakers

It was ok. Considering that the film had a "believable" setup, there was far too much stupid gore. Why do vampires always have to explode all over the place. Silly.

Dark Night

So there are really only three points that we all agree ruin/annoy;

--Jim Gordon 'dying'... Is there an explanation given, or is it my imagination that he manages to fool the entire city?

--The 'switcheroo'. I remember when teh film came out that a lot of people were confused - and it's clear why. BECAUSE NO EXPLANATION IS GIVEN. Bad cinema.

--Batman taking the blame. Understandable, but really just a tool to make the next

movie all that much more different. I mean, we've had an all-out assault on gotham, so to avoid the spiderman route, batman movies really have to try something different - and fair enough... but without a follow-up film it just seems unnecessary.

--That dude who works for wayne who has figured out who batman is. He's not dead, so what's stopping him from revealing anything in the future? Sure, wayne saved his life... buuut..?

--That's it.

Really! It's a brilliant film to re-watch. SO hard to decide when to go for a cigarette because the whole film is pretty non-stop. After playing so much Arkham Asylum I really want to know if the place will have a part in the next movie. Bats mentions it in this movie (guy harvey steals in an ambulance)... but I guess the next movie needs to be batman vs someone who is so clearly against society... So I dunno, I don't know the batverse all that well.

Can't remember what else I wanted to talk about, but in general I think it's fair to say that Dark Knight is one of the greatest blockbuster movies we've ever had. Really ticks all the boxes.

I thought this was pretty obvious when I first saw it. He faked his own death, to protect himself/his family.

Again, this was crystal clear when I watched. It was almost predictable that that was going to happen (mostly because Two-Face hadn't appeared yet, so we knew Harvey Dent wouldn't die). Why would Joker tell the truth?

I don't think more explanation was at all necessary.

Anarky?

It would be too similar to V For Vendetta though.

Or Poison Ivy:

Arkham Asylum is seen in Batman Begins. Scarecrow works there, and shiz goes down there.

EDIT:

Though this topic was beaten to death a year and a half ago (Wow...that long?), I think Black Mask and Catwoman would make for a great pair of villains, if they incorporate elements of their connection in the comics.

Chair reacting when I said that pic could be Poison Ivy in the next batman.

He does this all the time btw.

Obviously in the remake of Sophie's Choice.

The Road

Possibly the most depressing film I've ever seen.

Try and read the book... You know that undertone of hope that's present all the way throughout the movie? Nowhere to be found, in the book. The sheer bluntness of it makes it that much more depressing. And there's no music. You think the cellar scene was "bad", or the thief scene was brutal? Read the book, then. A fucking masterpiece. All the way through.

American Pie

Let it be known that any sequel and spin-off of this movie is complete garbage but the original is pretty good! 7/10

Still need to see this. The book is as good as OW said so I'm intrigued to see how they pull it off. I would say that there is a slight glint of hope in the book though, although only in the sense that their relationship is rather beautiful.

Most depressing film I've ever seen is a Russian movie called The Return. It's so emotionally bleak that I just really wanted a hug when it was over. Again, still a pretty decent film though.

A friend of mine said she saw The Road the other night, and felt so depressed afterwards. I was suprised, she's not the kinda person to go see movies like that, but she's my favourite person, so it's only to be expected really.

Isn't this a contradiction? As I read it "she doesn't go see depressing movies so I was surprised she watched this, but she is my favourite person so I expect her to watch this."

More like, I shouldn't have been suprised, there's a reason she stuns all and sundry that come within 10 clicks of her. You don't understand what the reason is until it's too late/she sees The Road, and you realise she's good at life.

Some of my friends said the same thing. I thought the trailer looked good but one of my friends who is usually happy, said she came out feeling down and depressed. It's kind-of put me off watching it now, lol.
