Men Who Stare At Goats

Ewan McGreggor's ass on proud display alongside George Clooney's. Jeff Daniels naked in a hot tub. Kevin Spacey has a moustache. It's practically gay porn. The best gay porn I've ever seen.

Happy-Go-Lucky

I really enjoy this film. Its nice to have something so seeped in positivity. Plus Leigh doesn't just let Poppy be an almost cartoon-like super happy person. She deals with real 'issues' and can behave like an adult, but in a happy way.

Hmm rating?

Halloween II

...I want my two hours back...It lacked in everything. Storyline, plot, acting...unbelievably stupid. They should have left it with the first one. All it is most of the way through is just mindless violence...crap! AVOID!

City Hunter

city_hunter_poster_01.jpg

Stars our favourite martial arts action star, Jackie Chan. The movie is based on the Manga (with the same name). It has a parody of the Bruce Lee movie, Game of Death and takes a comedy look in one scene at Street Fighter. I thought this was a great movie, and one that i will definitely watch again over the holidays

Mega Shark Vs Giant Octopus, I was really hoping for a really cheesy B movie.

Sadly it wasn't, it's the worst pile of crap that i've watched for a long time.

Everything about it stunk we we're laughing at it for the wrong reasons.

AVOID!!!

Saw Brokeback Mountain for the first time.

The story threw a spanner into my soul, my works. I hate the idea of regret. I'd sooner not live than regret not having lived my life the way I wanted to live it (to allude to Paj's "I'd rather throw myself off a tall building than stand near the edge"). It's painful for me to watch people living with regret. I just hated the end. To such a degree that I cried after the film had finished.

And the cause of it was ultimately homophobia, which makes me the saddest.

I'd heard before I watched it that

one of them dies, but I had forgotten which one. I was assuming throughout that it would be Heath Ledger's character, because he was generally less good at life, but when it got to the bit where we find Jack died I was genuinely shocked, and mournful.

And the fact that his wife seemed to know the truth of his murder, and acted as though she was ashamed of him rubbed salt in every possible wound.

Brilliantly directed. Deserved ever Oscar it got. I hate how it was "the film about the gay cowboys" in the media, because it is so much deeper than that. I half expecting a picturesque drama with a sprinkling of soft-core porn, but it was so so much more.

[As an aside, I really don't like it being one of the few mainstream gay portrayals out there. The whole point of the film is that Ennis is filled with guilt, and feels what he is doing is wrong, therefore Jack is met with violence and the relationship never fruitates, and I think its generally an unsavory portrayal of a homosexual relationship. I think there need to be more Hollywood films which deal with homosexual relationships, but not in a weird 60s/70s Wild West / Bible Bashing scenario]

The acting was incredible. I hated Ennis. I loathed his character. Heath Ledger made the film. I hated his awkwardness. I hated his self-hatred. I hated his constant evasion of the fact that he was gay (or at least bi). Genuinely wouldn't have put two and two together and said he played Joker in The Dark Knight if I didn't know it. He was a superb actor.

I loved how the rest of the cast are all massive stars, but in disguise. Anna Faris. Sam from ER. Anna Hathaway (actually stunning).

It's a fucking fantastic movie and I never want to see it again.

Fantastic. There really isn't another vampire film like it - not what you'd expect.

Please tell you that you noticed that:

The vampire is actually male, everyone I talk to about put on this horrified confused look when I tell them that and it annoys me.

I wasn't sure until the kid looked at her changing into his mother's dress...and it was a girl.

You sure? Because all the synopses and reviews for the film refer to Eli as 'her' as do all the ones for the book that I've seen.

Maybe they changed it for the film. They seemed to have changed a bit.

They didn't change it for the film - I think (no source sadly) the director stated this, and it explains the

"I'm not a girl" line (the main kid's probable interpretation of it implying "...I'm a vampire" isn't right) and the shot of his mangled genitals - I think the novel states his penis has been cut off and buried somewhere. It makes sense to use her though - after all, it's what the audience is supposed to think at first.

Well I'd say the movie never really made it clear, so you can't really be annoyed at people for saying "she" when they're never told otherwise!

Into The Wild

Very touching movie indeed. Emile Hirsch is brilliant.

It's strangely haunting - I didn't know the history of Supertramp before i watched it, so I had no idea what to expect. The poor sod.

Exactly. It really makes you question things, and has me pondering to myself a lot.

Also I want to pork Kristen Stewart.

Hairspray: Shake and Shimmy 2 disc edition

I went to my ex's house today to drop her present off (Westlife CD, something called 'We're right here' or something) and she also got me a present too. We opened them and she was ecstatic about hers and I was with mine. My Hairspray DVD wasn't working and I couldn't be bothered to buy another one so it saved me a job and it also has another DVD of extras.

Anyway, much better. It had extended scenes and deleted scenes in the movie so it was cool watching. Anyway, enjoyed it alot!

Avatar. Go see it. Possibly the most viusually stunning world ever created. The characters were great, but the whole eco-system and atmosphere was just unlike anything you've ever seen before. James Cameron, again pushing technology to its limit.

It needed more than three hours! The start of the film, could have gone on for 7 hours, it was so immersive and beautiful. Honestly, I can't wait to watch the directors cut, as the film needs more!

Definately, there was a lot of things that kind of seemed kind of that it needed more. To put it another way, no one wanted it to end. Also, like Terminator 2, Aliens and The Abyss, I'm sure Cameron will have a director's cut. ANyway, hurry up and watch it!!
