Dcubed Posted October 29, 2024 Posted October 29, 2024 (edited) The long overdue Wii U port arrives on March 20th 2025. Edited October 29, 2024 by Dcubed 1 1
Nicktendo Posted October 29, 2024 Posted October 29, 2024 Get hype! Put around 50 hours into this on the Wii U but got interrupted by the Switch launch. Keen to give it a second go because I loved a lot of the systems in that game more than the mainline series. 2
Hero-of-Time Posted October 29, 2024 Posted October 29, 2024 Awesome. I never finished it on the Wii U and have been hoping for an updated release.
killthenet Posted October 29, 2024 Posted October 29, 2024 What the hell, out of nowhere! I gave up hope of it ever being ported and played the Wii U version last year so not sure when I'll get around to playing this version but it'll be great to have all the Xenoblade games on one console
Dcubed Posted October 29, 2024 Author Posted October 29, 2024 (edited) So... now that Nintendo is back on the Wii U port gravy train, might we see them finally bring out some of their last remaining WiI U ports still sitting in their vaults? I bet they finished ports of Paper Mario Colour Splash, Wind Waker HD, Twilight Princess HD and Kirby & The Rainbow Curse years ago and they're just sitting on them for a rainy day to fill in their schedule gaps before Switch 2 comes out... Of course, if they were actually cool, they would have a port of Nintendo Land and Star Fox Zero that requires two Switches ready to go... I mean, they've already sold near enough 150 million of the bloody things, most of us have multiple Switch consoles by this point anyway. Edited October 29, 2024 by Dcubed
Glen-i Posted October 29, 2024 Posted October 29, 2024 (edited) Saying this as someone who thinks that Xenoblade Chronicles is one of the finest series of RPG's we've ever had. This game sucks. And no amount of improvements is gonna change that. Enjoy faffing about with that menu with no Gamepad! Edited October 29, 2024 by Glen-i 1
martinist Posted November 2, 2024 Posted November 2, 2024 (edited) I think i got about half way through the game on the WiiU. Got my Skell, did all the licencing (aka mindless tutorials) then just gave up there. Didn't even get to the flying part, just the driving around part. Might try again in March when this comes out, never finished it. Then again I've never finished 2 or 3 either. Edited November 2, 2024 by martinist spelling/grammer 1
S.C.G Posted November 3, 2024 Posted November 3, 2024 I've never finished a single Xenoblade Chronicles game... ...I just wasn't really feeling it. 2
Julius Posted January 9 Posted January 9 (edited) Overview trailer: Quote The year is 2054. Earth has been destroyed by an intergalactic war between two alien races, and humanity is on the brink of annihilation. As a member of BLADE, it's up to you to take on tough foes in a robust combat system, and pilot powerful giant robots called Skells ina combat system that's as deep as you want it to be. Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition launches on the Nintendo Switch system March 20, 2025. The game will also be included in the NSO Game Vouchers scheme. Here are some items which will be available as part of an early purchase bonus: Edited January 9 by Julius 1
Glen-i Posted January 9 Posted January 9 Quote in a combat system that's as deep as you want it to be. Hah! That's rich. I've played that game. The endgame strategy just boils down to "Use most expensive Skell and win" Every other Xenoblade has a more robust combat system then this one.
Julius Posted January 10 Posted January 10 Japanese vid with over 7 minutes more footage: Per the comments, it looks like there's a slew of new things on show: higher level cap, new hair styles (Mythra's and Nia's?), and apparently there's confirmation that the bust slider has been removed (which I'm reading the English version of the Wii U release already removed anyways).
Julius Posted January 10 Posted January 10 (edited) Some artwork of the new Skell that the new pilot brings into the DE: Love the design of this thing UPDATE: Ooo a cool tidbit on this design; Edited Monday at 02:08 AM by Julius
Julius Posted yesterday at 01:24 AM Posted yesterday at 01:24 AM How did people find the Skell and character customisation in the original Wii U version of the game? I'm not sure how much of this game is pulling me in from the trailers so far, but I feel like if I could make a cool ass mech and pilot, I'd be much more likely to see it through.

Most notable thing about the character customisation is that Shulk's voice actor is one of the male options, which gave me a good laugh. As for the Skells? Eh. They're pretty rigid, no mix and matching. And as I said before, they're not created equal, so you'll likely end up with the same design as everyone else. Of course, this is going off of the WiiU version, they might have changed that. Xenoblade 1 on Switch let you choose what armour design the characters wear without affecting stats, so it's not impossible that they did this to the Skells. 1

My interest in picking this up at launch or anytime soon just completely dissipated. Not that I'm in any particular rush to get back to the series, even if I had a great time with Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition - when it came out...checks notes...nearly 5 years ago?! Holy what?! - but I'm guessing you would recommend that I play 2 next rather than X? I mean, I should probably also go back in and check out Future Connected in XC:DE...
Glen-i Posted 12 hours ago Posted 12 hours ago 3 hours ago, Julius said: but I'm guessing you would recommend that I play 2 next rather than X? Ehhh... You're basically asking me if I'd rather be bored or folding into myself out of pure cringe. 2 has some neat gameplay, but it's also got some real low lows. There's some irritating road blocks when it comes to exploration, it takes a very long time for the great combat to actually become great, it runs like an absolute dog, and the plot is just embarrassing, even if it does have a cool payoff. Switch 2 should be able to alleviate the graphics and performance, but it can't fix everything else. I'd still pick 2 over X, but honestly? Tempted to recommend that you just watch a story recap for 2 and go into 3, which is amazing! Although, if you can play Torna: The Golden Country, do so. Plot is a million times better then 2, and it's got the cool combat, and little of the chaff. 1
Dcubed Posted 11 hours ago Author Posted 11 hours ago 2 is not even in the same league as the original Xenoblade, but it's still better than most HD RPGs out there. It does require a very high tolerence for horny content and time-wasting BS, but it's not a bad game at all. I'd also recommend waiting to see if it runs better on Switch 2, because it runs like a dead donkey on the current hardware (and handheld mode literally looks worse than a PS1 game at times). 1

Tempted to recommend that you just watch a story recap for 2 and go into 3, which is amazing! It's times like this where I kind of hate that I feel like I can't skip a sequel, and if I ever do it's almost always down to how separate it feels from a narrative POV or simply because it's not easily accessible. I've heard enough good things about 3 to know I want to play it at some point, but 2...not so much. Love what I've heard of the music and obviously the crazy scale these games go for too. I guess feeling the way I do about 2 just drastically lessens the odds of me playing both 27 minutes ago, Glen-i said: Although, if you can play Torna: The Golden Country, do so. I picked it up a few years ago when there was a bit of a scare over whether or not it was going to get more physical prints. Maybe that'll be what I play next (from the series, not the next game I play, to be clear ) It's a prequel to 2, right? 1 minute ago, Dcubed said: I'd also recommend waiting to see if it runs better on Switch 2, because it runs like a dead donkey on the current hardware (and handheld mode literally looks worse than a PS1 game at times). Damn, yeah I'd heard and read different accounts of poor performance for 2, so I'll probably just wait until the Switch 2 and see if that takes things up a notch before I decide to dive in. Maybe a Pledge Game for next year? It's not like I was planning on getting to it anytime soon anyways! I have other super long JRPG commitments to get to before then Thanks both
