drahkon Posted December 12 Posted December 12 Fortnite being on there does surprise me a little. There were quite a few gaming lulls for me, and I guess I wanted to just play a game with some friends. So? 965 hours or 900 hours? Yup, my trophy hunting days are over I guess 965 hours then. It's been a quiet gaming year for me compared to 2022 and 2023. But more on that later 2
Julius Posted December 12 Posted December 12 (edited) Here's mine The Big Boy Stats FC24 being #1 - and only by a couple of hours - kinda hurts, the Euros excitement + late night sessions added up it looks like. BG3 being #2 mostly from my co-op playthrough(s) with friends feels real good, fantastic game, but still one I want to find some time to play through solo my real aim for next year is to not pick up FIFA, or at least, have my #3 GT7 top it - and given it can now stay on my PS5 for the rest of time with my recent SSD addition, I mean, it's got a shot VII Rebirth and Elden Ring being #4 and #5 respectively feels great, though! Loved those games. Hard to not wish more JRPGs made it up here in the Year of the JRPG: Part I, but ah well, we'll see what we can do about that next year. Ya know, considering I took something like 2 or 3 months off from gaming this year, this is kind of nice. I mean, until I think too much about FIFA being 15% of my time played Huh, I've got down here that the only Plat I got was for Astro Bot, so what could this be-- On 9/22/2024 at 1:07 PM, Julius said: I mean, just look at how stupid this Platinum trophy screenshot is! I didn't even get a chance to calibrate my display! Oh right, that auto-popped PS5 to PS4 Plat for GT7. You bastards. Social Stuff Month-by-Month Breakdown Profile Card / in summary Weird year for me and games - I mean, it's just been a weird year for me, gaming or otherwise. But that's cool with me; let's see what 2025 brings Edited December 12 by Julius 2

My title checks out. The amount of JRPGs I played this year was pretty hefty. Crazy thing is that I still have a stupid amount to get through. 2 1

One of my friends got Role Player as our shared BG3 campaign must have pumped up his RPG numbers, because he's definitely anything but. So, it's safe to say as the guy who is squarely the RPG guy in my group, I'm taking that very personally and as an affront to my very being to make it sting even more, my Rebirth + Elden Ring playtime is greater than his BG3 playtime for the year! So, I will destroy him next year 16 minutes ago, Hero-of-Time said: The amount of JRPGs I played this year was pretty hefty. Crazy thing is that I still have a stupid amount to get through. And it only looks like it's going to get crazier next year, which is mental. I'm trying to mentally drop the idea of a backlog (I think it contributes a lot to some of my gaming burnouts), but even just planning on taking 5 games with me forward from this year, 4 of them are RPGs, and 3 of those are JRPGs. What's really great to see is that not only are we now getting a lot of them, but it generally feels like this year, the bar was higher in terms of quality across the board for JRPGs. Hopefully that carries on in 2025! Edited December 12 by Julius 2

bob Posted Monday at 07:26 PM Posted Monday at 07:26 PM The numbers seem broken in general tbh. My April was also talking nonsense. No I did not do a 20hr gaming session, and I only played 3 games total all year, so I'm not sure how I played 12 during that mammoth session. 2
Julius Posted Wednesday at 04:51 PM Posted Wednesday at 04:51 PM (edited) New Cerny ASMR has dropped: Quote Mark Cerny, lead architect of PS5 and PS5 Pro, presents a technical seminar on PS5 Pro to an audience at Sony Interactive Entertainment HQ in San Mateo, California. Seems like the Pro version of what we got for the PS5 ahead of time -- look forward to checking it out later! There also an interview with Digital Foundry: Quote A brand new Mark Cerny deep dive into the technology and vision behind PlayStation 5 Pro has just landed - and we had an early preview several weeks ago... plus the chance to talk tech with Cerny himself and Insomniac's director of core technology, Mike Fitzgerald. Oliver Mackenzie poses the questions in an interview recording on October 30th, before the Pro launched. Weird that these are coming out well after the Pro's launch. Julius Posted Thursday at 08:29 AM Posted Thursday at 08:29 AM Sony and Kadokawa have built a strategic capital and business alliance, with Sony buying further shares to take them up to 10% in total, which makes them Kadokawa's largest shareholders. From Sony themselves: Quote Tokyo, Japan - KADOKAWA CORPORATION ("KADOKAWA") and Sony Group Corporation ("Sony") today signed a strategic capital and business alliance agreement, agreeing to conduct a third-party allotment by KADOKAWA to Sony on January 7, 2025, with Sony acquiring 12,054,100 new KADOKAWA shares for approximately 50 billion yen. With the acquisition of the new shares, Sony will become KADOKAWA's largest shareholder, holding approximately 10% of its shares, including the shares Sony previously acquired in February 2021. KADOKAWA and Sony historically have collaborated on various projects, and through this capital and business alliance, intend to further strengthen our collaboration to maximize both companies' IP value globally and facilitate wider and deeper collaboration, such as potential joint investments in the content field, joint discovery of new creators, and joint promotion of further media mixes of both companies' IP. In the future, the two companies plan to discuss specific initiatives for collaboration, such as initiatives to adapt KADOKAWA's IP into live-action films and TV dramas globally, co-produce anime works, expand global distribution of KADOKAWA's anime works through the Sony Group, further expand publishing of KADOKAWA's games, and develop human resources to promote and expand virtual production. Good stuff. I love From Software's games, but this was never just about that, and the fewer acquisitions the better. Still, though, I'm curious to see what this means for the pair in practice! 1
Hero-of-Time Posted Thursday at 08:42 AM Posted Thursday at 08:42 AM Definitely the best outcome from those rumours. I was concerned that they would be acquired, which is something that needs to stop happening, and this seems to be a happy middle ground. 1
Hero-of-Time Posted 22 hours ago Posted 22 hours ago Decent Christmas sale on PSN at the moment. Kinda tempted with Dicey Dungeons for a couple of quid. 1
