S.C.G Posted November 17 Posted November 17 Thanks for the games. Here's a link to this week's stream... - - - - - N-Europe Saturday Smash! (16/11/2024) - - - - - 1
BowserBasher Posted November 17 Posted November 17 When we both do it, it won’t do any thing. I think at this point a side B at the start of any match is what we all think each other will do. So it’s turning into counters. 1
BowserBasher Posted November 23 Posted November 23 Right, no @Glen-i again tonight so far, so I’ll get to host. So I believe it’s Stamina from 8pm (7:30 for custom stages) 1
Dcubed Posted November 23 Posted November 23 Hopefully should be available to join in from around 20:00-20:30 onwards tonight 1
BowserBasher Posted Saturday at 10:24 PM Posted Saturday at 10:24 PM @RedShell great custom stage matches. Lots of fun close matches, well apart from Kirby vs Yoshi where I suddenly won by +5. Can’t take all the credit for that one though. It was 100% the stage. Will be waiting for the stream to go up so I can see what got me in that match I was Diddy (was it Diddy?) 1:09 on the stream reminder.

You can check it, right now! I've already looked back at the footage though, and I believe what happened, is that your Peanut gun backfired, and it was residual fire damage which got you while you were performing the clapping taunt. Some really great matches though, especially for the stream which almost never was, as @Glen-i wasn't feeling it this week (I hope you're better soon for next week) and @Ike has internet issues, then I wasn't really feeling it when I got home from work, fell asleep, woke up at just gone 8pm... then joined @RedShell and @BowserBasher for a few matches, then we played for about an hour or so and... A New Challenger Approahces! Suddenly... @Dcubed shows up for a good half an hour or so. So all in all... this is a good result?!? (Or as good as it could have been, given the circumstances) Fun times, Let's smash again! 3

So, I think it was actually the assist trophy that did me in. I got caught in the last shot and it slowly drains energy from you. Watch my stamina, it goes down slowly after that and you can see a purple glow on me. 1

Well, that was my first thought, but it was almost too perfect, so I then thought "Nah... it couldn't be that, could it?" So as it turns out, it was a quite literal... Fatal Frame!

It's always nice to play some 1v1 battles now and then, as it means I actually get to see what the hell is going on for a change. 16 hours ago, BowserBasher said: Lots of fun close matches, well apart from Kirby vs Yoshi where I suddenly won by +5. Especially when I inadvertently made Kirby huge with a lightning bolt just as Yoshi was getting inhaled. It was all downhill for me from that point on as I couldn't stop laughing. 1 1
Glen-i Posted 13 hours ago Posted 13 hours ago (edited) OK, so there's a theme coming up. Got an idea, but there's a few characters not currently on the list because I'm not entirely certain, so I'm gonna post the idea and the characters, and see if I can get a more concrete consensus. The title of this theme, which will certainly get censored in the game itself, is... Bum Fight The characters here, as far as I'm aware, do not have a place of residence. Effectively, they're homeless. For what it's worth, characters who lose their house during a game, but then get it back later don't count. That's why Sheik is there, but not Zelda. Spoilers for Ocarina of Time, but by the time Zelda gets her castle back, she's no longer Sheik. I am counting characters who live in some kind of personal vehicle. Samus and Wolf bascially live in their car, and that's not a home. Compare Fox and Falco, who live on the Great Fox; A ship clearly designed to also function as a home. You know? Like Star Trek. As for Hero, only the DQ4 style Hero (Pictured above) would remotely qualify here. Now, the floor is very much open to questions and debate, but there are also a few characters that @Dcubed and I can't seem to come to an agreement on. These characters are; Daisy - Have you ever seen her castle? I certainly haven't! Why is she always hanging around the Mushroom Kingdom, anyway!? Starting to think Sarasaland doesn't actually exist and Super Mario Land was all a fever dream. Meta Knight - The Halberd makes this tricky. Even discounting the possibility that it never gets rebuilt after Planet Robobot, does he have a house? Dedede and Kirby do, but we've seen nothing for Meta Knight... Pit - I think Pit must have a house somewhere in Skyworld. Dcubed thinks that Palutena is such a massive troll, that she wouldn't give him one for laughs. I can't catagorically deny that possibility. Alph - Not Olimar. Olimar definitely has a house and a family, but Alph is a bit more vague on that front. He has a job, so it's not unfeasible to think he has a house, but there's no evidence there. Little Mac - There's no confirmation of a house of some kind, so this one depends on whether a gym is good enough. Is the gym public access? Robin - Dcubed thinks he's homeless, I think Chrom is the kind of bro that would at least give him a house after the crap they went through in FE: Awakening. Duck Hunt Duo - If the dog doesn't count, then the duck does at least. But it all depends on how you determine the off-screen sharpshooter and their relationship with the dog. Ridley - You ever played Metroid Prime 3? Ain't no houses on the Pirate Homeworld! Dcubed disagrees. Richter - OK, so Dcubed doesn't know this, but during my research, I found out that Simon Belmont would go on to found his own town! So he definitely ends up with a house. As for Richter? Well, that depends on whether he would end up inheriting some kind of Belmont residence. They do pass the Vampire Killer whip down the generations, so why not a house? So that's it? Thoughts? The line-up is fine, Terry's in, and with that amount of characters, it should take around an hour to work through all the others in the roster, and end up with a near-enough hour of "Terry Time" at the end. Well Terry is about as much Bum as it gets, so he's the perfect choice
Dcubed Posted 5 hours ago Posted 5 hours ago (edited) Oh, BTW, we had this argument like, around a month ago, so some of these characters are still up for debate... but one character that is absolutely not up for debate is Sonic The Homeless Hedgehog; as SEGA appeared to be listening in on our conversation and conviniently publicly confirmed this a week ago... https://automaton-media.com/en/news/sonic-the-hedgehog-is-still-homeless-sega-confirms/ https://www.ign.com/articles/sega-fans-relieved-to-hear-sonic-the-hedgehog-is-still-homeless Rest assured. Sonic is still very much homeless Edited 5 hours ago by Dcubed 2
Jonnas Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago I would argue: Ike owns a small fort. He left it to travel by the end of RD, but that's kind of the same situation as the DQIII Hero, then; Robin stayed in Chrom's castle for as long as they served him (so... from waking memory), and they don't have any desire to travel. They also raise a family in plenty of continuities. I don't know what the argument for homelessness is; It's hilarious that Lucas is here. It only becomes true the moment the credits roll Judging from how clean his hoodie looks (despite getting so much use) I'm going to guess Little Mac has a place to stay; Fun fact: After SOTN, the Belmonts disappeared for more than a century, until reappearing in 1999. Then, their sole descendant lived as a bum for decades, but only because they legitimately did not remember who they were. As such, it is hilariously unclear if this respected, centuries-old clan had any estate whatsoever over the course of 200 years. (That said, Richter was set to marry someone before Dracula appeared. Guaranteed marriage in 18th-19th Century Europe? He probably has a home)
Dcubed Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago (edited) Ike is voluntarily homeless. He never returns to the fort, choosing to live a mercenary life on the road; even rejecting the offer of lordship at Cremia Castle to do so. He just enjoys living in mud. As for Robin? We never discover his origin home and there's no evidence to suggest that he ever settles down to live with Chrom either. Once his term of service ends? We don't know if stays at or leaves the house of Chrom. Also canonically, Robin doesn't actually have any pairing; unlike Chrom (who canonically marries Sumia). So again, no evidence to suggest that he settles down with anyone. It's entierly open to interpretation. Also, come on! We know that Ridley lives on the Pirate Homeworld. We never get to see the entierty of the planet's surface, so Ridley could well be living in a house; or he could be living in a cave. Either way, he ain't living out in the middle of an open field where anyone could snipe him in his sleep (also he finally gets a forever home inside a fridge, as per Metroid Fusion, so there ). Little Mac probably lives in Doc Lewis' gym, but that begs the question of whether it would be considered a private residence or a public space... And I doubt that Doc Lewis would operate a gym with only one client... (not to mention that he probably embezzles all of Little Mac's prize money for himself ). Edited 2 hours ago by Dcubed
