Am I the only one absolutely overjoyed for this?! Been meaning to back to 100% both but my pc specs didn't allow for the Steam version.

10 is my favourite game, owing to the tactical turn based battles, addictive Bliztball league, compelling story, cool aeons (Anima).

Happy to replay 7 and 9 too - but I stopped at 12 when they ditched the turn based which was sad.

But to me, for how small that segment of the Direct was...these were monumental announcements. The great irony for me is squaresoft debutting FF7 on a CARTRIDGE based Nintendo system. XD

I'm happy.

I'm chuffed too.  Although I've owned a PS2 and PS3, I do mainly stick to Nintendo, so can't wait to play every Final Fantasy remaster they announced.  I do prefer turn-based combat, but am really looking forward to XII as well.

X specifically? Ehhhhh...

I tired to play through it recently on Steam but I've lost motivation right on the second airship fight with Sin. I should finish it really.

Don't get me wrong, it's really cool these games are finally coming to a Ninty console, but X specifically doesn't excite me.

Now, Chocobo's Dungeon on the other hand? Yes please! Always wanted to try that since Theatrhythm taught me it existed. That should scratch that Pokémon Mystery Dungeon itch.

X is my second favourite Final Fantasy game. Fantastic story, great characters, killer OST and the sphere grid made for an amazing game. X-2 gets a lot of hate but if you can get past the J-Pop/Girl Power thing it has an incredible battle system.

I've only played bits and pieces of FF VII and X (and loved what I played), so I really can't wait to finally play VII, IX, X & X-2 and XII. This is gonna be time consuming...

Highlight of the direct for me, and took my completely by surprise! :D

Smash World of Light seems to adopt a similar system to the Spehere grid!

Same with me... Sadly though, my love stopped with the series when they left turn-based. I REALLY wanted to get into FF13...But that battle system...:/....Reckon we'll get 13?

I can't imagine why not, although I don't know how Square-Enix chose the ones they've announced ports of.  They always seem to be in on Nintendo's plans, so perhaps that's one for Switch 2?

I loved the battle system in FFXIII. Doing the paradigm shifts on the fly to abuse enemy weaknesses was very satisfying and the fact that it was essentially a super fast job switch with the press of a button made it so much fun. I always seen it as an extension of the dress sphere system from FFX-2.

As for FFXIII, I can't see it happening anytime soon. If you look at all the games that are coming to Switch, it's the ones that have been ported over to the other consoles/devices already that are being released. Both FFVII and IX have been on things like mobile, Steam and PSN for a while now. The same goes for the remasters of Final Fantasy X/X-2 and XII.

As for FFXIII, the original game and its sequels have yet to be ported over to any of the newer platforms. It may have something to do with the game engine it's running on. I'd welcome a re-release of XIII. I think it gets harshly criticised and would love to add it to my PS4 Final Fantasy collection.

It's a bit weird Type-0 isn't making the journey to the Switch. It was originally a PSP game and got ported to the PS4 a while back. The Switch could easily run it and it would give the game another shot at success. Once again, I think this another fantastic FF game that many panned.

Speaking of Final Fantasy, The World of Final Fantasy Maxima is now on the eShop. I played this back in 2016 on the PS4 and it's a fantastic Final Fantasy game that oozes charm and fan service. I highly recommend giving it a go if you like Pokemon, Final Fantasy or both.

Yeah, that's a good point.  I often forget we're only one generation on from the PS3.  All the great ports on Switch so far were developed on Xbox 360, which is a very different thing to something designed to take advantage of PS3's highly specialist architecture.

Thankfully we're finally at a point where it seems easy enough to move stuff between Xbox/PlayStation, mobile and Nintendo... depending on specs, of course, but not so limited by the architecture.

It's on sale for 10€ right now. Would you say it's worth it?

Actually, I could get a used copy on ebay for about 7-8€ :D

I really enjoyed it. The battle system is fun and you can break the game really easily. I also loved the soundtrack ( THIS track is glorious ) and the story, especially the ending, hit me really hard.

That's disgustingly bad. I really hope there's a reversible cover.

Anyway, you just reminded me that I still need to Platinum this game. Just loaded it up on my Vita only to see that I just started the stat maxing process. Coolcoolcoolcoolcoolcoolcool. :D Need to read up on the process, but for now it's time to do the Don Tonberry AP trick and catch the remaining monsters to complete the farm.

The beautiful box art has been ruined.

I wonder if it's a reversible cover?

This was the deal with the Vita version but they never did that with the boxart. How unnecessary!

There must be a rule for it or something because it's on a couple of other Switch releases. Things like Wolfenstein and Rocket League also have it plastered all over the front of the box. As Rob said, it would be far better to have it on the back of the box.

That is fugly. It reminds me of those SMOKING KILLS YOU messages they put on cigarette packs.

If this comes from Nintendo, then why do they at least take a more clean approach with it? As with Bayonetta:

Jesus, I have no idea at what 'point' I'm at with regards to stat maxing and end-game content. Just looked at my equipment and apparently I was working on some weapons. I also stopped playing while I was still working my way through the sphere grid with only three characters while trying to catch monsters.

I think I need at least 20 minutes of looking through the menus to see what exactly my next moves should be. It's definitely time to streamline the process and focus on one thing first.

This is what happens when you drop a game to play something else instead of finishing what you started. :p
