dazzybee Posted January 13, 2017 Posted January 13, 2017 But a multiplayer game and a single player game is a great double whammy. And please don't come back and say 1-2 Switch is the multiplayer game.... An explanation could be they only have limited stocks at launch, they'll sell them on Zelda alone. Then in April they'll have restocks so releasing Mario to be more exciting... maybe... Fuck knows. Nintendo are mental!
Glen-i Posted January 13, 2017 Posted January 13, 2017 (edited) They're showing this now on Treehouse. Inkling Boy and Girl are seperate characters. Villager genders have been seperated too. New karts include the Clown Car and the Splat Buggy. No sign of new race tracks. (They skip the track selection screen for some reason. Suspicious...) Full 1080p, 60fps on TV mode. 720p, 60fps in handheld mode There's a new driving assist mode which stops you from falling off the track. Totally optional. They hint at more stuff being in the full game, but they're keeping it secret. Edited January 13, 2017 by Glen-i
Kounan Posted January 13, 2017 Posted January 13, 2017 It's on now. It doesn't look good when it comes to new tracks. I like the driving assistant.
killthenet Posted January 13, 2017 Posted January 13, 2017 The battle mode looks great, up to 8 players, I just hope there are plenty of arenas and options.
Glen-i Posted January 13, 2017 Posted January 13, 2017 (edited) 12 player Bob-omb Blast is about as mental as you'd expect. The rules in Battle are similar to the Mario Kart 7 style. It's based on points, and you get 5 Balloons. If you lose all your balloons, your score is halved. Most points when time runs out wins. The battle mode looks great, up to 8 players, I just hope there are plenty of arenas and options. You mean 12 players. I like how the Splat Buggy has ink come out of the exhaust pipes when you boost, nice touch. Edited January 13, 2017 by Glen-i Automerged Doublepost
Ashley Posted January 13, 2017 Posted January 13, 2017 Staggered releases so there are no droughts since people kept bitching about droughts. Simple as that. But a multiplayer game and a single player game is a great double whammy. And please don't come back and say 1-2 Switch is the multiplayer game.... Yeah this. 1-2 Switch is a fine little thing by itself, but it's not going to have wide appeal and it's not going to be one most people will play after a few weeks. MK8 has legs, it's why people are still playing it on Wii U!
lostmario Posted January 13, 2017 Posted January 13, 2017 Wait so no new racing courses? Meh.. Battle mode is alright but I wouldn't buy Mario Kart 8 again just for that.
Kounan Posted January 13, 2017 Posted January 13, 2017 So, when you buy the Switch, you automatically have 2 controllers for MK?
Glen-i Posted January 13, 2017 Posted January 13, 2017 So, when you buy the Switch, you automatically have 2 controllers for MK? Yep, that was a given though. Shame buying more controllers is god damn expensive!
Kounan Posted January 13, 2017 Posted January 13, 2017 So no new tracks, now this will be a problem for me. I will probably buy it so I can play the league again, but.... I am expecting some DLC's, but this is really bad.

I am expecting some DLC's, but this is really bad. Hopefully the The Mole steps up to take on managing the league again because sadly, I won't be getting this.
Glen-i Posted January 13, 2017 Posted January 13, 2017 So no new tracks, now this will be a problem for me. I will probably buy it so I can play the league again, but.... I am expecting some DLC's, but this is really bad. They did say there's more surprises in the full game. Too soon to dismiss the possibility. It's not a good sign though. I'm not paying to play Mario Kart online only once a week. Eff that.
Kounan Posted January 13, 2017 Posted January 13, 2017 So maybe no new tracks and maybe no league, damn....
dazzybee Posted January 13, 2017 Posted January 13, 2017 The battle mode looked amazing, thankfully. Had a great idea, did the wii do this. So you have 5 balloons, if you lose all 5 your score gets halved. Greta seeing the feather again, great seeing Battle Mode 1 from SNES. Surely there's an N64 arena in there!! They said there were extra multiplayer modes they aren't talking about, so if there's extra modes, could there be extra race tracks? Hope so. Paying £50 again will be along with a huge eye roll, but I'll do it, the game is too good and having it on a handheld too appealing. Slightly worrying Splatoon says chatting online, but Mario kart doesn't... Why would Nintendo pick and choose which game? They have such a convoluted method, such strict parental controls, yet still don't add it to every game?!
Serebii Posted January 13, 2017 Author Posted January 13, 2017 If you're worrying about no new tracks, look at this picture. Clearly a Splatoon track. No balloons to be found
Glen-i Posted January 13, 2017 Posted January 13, 2017 If you're worrying about no new tracks, look at this picture. Clearly a Splatoon track. No balloons to be found Thank you! Now that's a good sign!
Kounan Posted January 13, 2017 Posted January 13, 2017 If you're worrying about no new tracks, look at this picture. Clearly a Splatoon track. No balloons to be found We know that for battle mode, but what about cups?
Glen-i Posted January 13, 2017 Posted January 13, 2017 We know that for battle mode, but what about cups? If it was a Battle Mode shot, wouldn't there be Balloons above the Inklings?
markderoos Posted January 14, 2017 Posted January 14, 2017 Or a different battle mode (without balloons needed)
Kounan Posted January 14, 2017 Posted January 14, 2017 If it was a Battle Mode shot, wouldn't there be Balloons above the Inklings? OK, that gives some hope . But there are more multiplayer modes.
somme Posted January 14, 2017 Posted January 14, 2017 I wouldn't say that image was indicative of anything. Seems more like a promo shot highlighting the Inklings inclusion.
Ashley Posted January 14, 2017 Posted January 14, 2017 Remember when Mario Kart was about the Mario franchise?
Cube Posted January 14, 2017 Posted January 14, 2017 They said there were extra multiplayer modes they aren't talking about Hopefully one of them is the real Mario Kart battle mode. The one everyone has wanted for the past few Mario Kart games.
liger05 Posted January 14, 2017 Posted January 14, 2017 Don't understand why if there are new tracks they don't just say so.
Strange Cookie Posted January 14, 2017 Posted January 14, 2017 I guess this means I have to get all gold medals and stars again. Somehow, I don't mind. And I can do it with King Boo this time around.
