The game's appeal doesn't really lie in the gameplay mechanics themselves, but rather in the experience it provides as a whole with how it encourages you to go explore the real world to catch Pokemon and claim territory. It's also a great social icebreaker of sorts as well. You've already got people organising Pokemon Go walks and groups and the game isn't even out proper yet! Yeah, the mechanics of catching and "battling" Pokemon are dead simple, but that's all they need to be here. If there's any failing to be called out here, it's the need to have your phone out and active at all times while playing... There seem to be more the closer you are to a lot of Poke stops (e.g. London). I bump into far more walking about in central London than near my house.
