New gameplay trailer fresh out of GamesCom:

Looks fantastic. Can't wait for this to release, been waiting for another one for ages. Not too keen on the statue in that collector's edition but may well just go for it as like that Steelbook and would love those concept art pieces and lithograph.

Haven't bought a collectors edition for a long time, big boxes and figures don't really appeal to me any more, but that one does look pretty awesome...

Yeah me too.. What I look for in a CE is a pretty box, and preferably an artbook and physical soundtrack. The box is sleak, but steelbooks mean nothing to me, lithos, well I like them, but I'm not going to frame them (unless they're really good and big enough). Tattoos I'm not going to use, which leaves you pretty much with the figure. For $ 200,-, that figure better be pretty good. From the promo pics, it actually does look good, but that doesn't tell if the final product will actually be good up close.. $ 200,- is a big gamble. But assuming the figure is of good quality, I may be tempted.

Love how it's looking. I guess 90% of it will be how well the world allows you to traverse but it's all very promising. Stylistically it looks spot on.

I love the footage, but I barely get how you get Deus Ex out of this though.. Apart from a general futuristic vibe..
Yeah I'm not sure either tbh, I certainly didn't mean it in gameplay terms. I think it was just the way the trailer was put together, with the cinematic first person, the architecture, stealth elements, the science lab and cutscenes.

Delayed. :(

Years ago, we set out an ambitious vision for Mirror’s Edge™ Catalyst. Achieving that vision and delivering the best possible experience is equally inspiring and challenging. And it takes time. We set out to create a vast city to explore, full of stunning vistas, majestic skyscrapers, and mysterious tunnels. We’re building the most immersive action-adventure game with fluid movement and combat in first person. Mirror’s Edge Catalyst will be an all-new playground with a deeper and more engaging story - and we want to accomplish all these goals to the highest quality possible.

So we’ve made the decision to bring Mirror’s Edge to the world starting May 24, 2016. We will use these few extra months to make sure that when you step into the massive City of Glass and experience the rise of Faith, it’s as entertaining, impressive, and memorable as it can be.

Mirror’s Edge Catalyst has received an incredible response from fans around the world over the past months. You’ve been eager to see the return of Faith and the unique style and gameplay that only Mirror’s Edge can create. Witnessing your positive reactions has been amazing motivation for me and the rest of our passionate team at DICE.

Thank you again for your patience and support. Keep the Faith.

Senior Producer, Mirror's Edge Catalyst

Gutted that its been delayed till May :( Still, the February date had it running up against some other big hitting titles so moving it away to May is a good call and should be for the best.

Oh shit yea I said in PS4 thread that I was only looking forward to P5 this year. Forgot about this. Loved the first, loved what I played of this at EGX, can't wait.

Don't know when the game was meant to be out, but it's received a delay to incorporate feedback from the closed BETA - probably should have factored that time into the release EA :p - until June 9th in Europe. June 7th in US.

Another bloody delay... :nono: Especially if it is for what they're saying, to incorporate fan feedback into the network side of things. That's something that they surely should have accounted for when putting the May 26th date out there in the first place. But then saying that, it is DICE and the state most of the recent Battlefield titles have launched at, it was maybe asking them too much

Still, as I saw someone say elsewhere, it moves out of the road of the likes of Uncharted 4, Doom, Overwatch and many others so it's probably a good move to get it into some breathing space to maximise sales. I'll still be there day 1, even with the whole XP unlock mess of things, I've waited however many years for a sequel so I can wait another 2 weeks.

The beta is probably behind schedule, it happens, it's not surprising. Far better than doing a Ubisoft and releasing a broken game on time. It's not a big delay really, just shy of seven weeks away.

So, did anyone have a play with the Beta?

I did, and enjoyed it a lot. Although it doesn't feel like the outside world flows quite as well as the linear routes did in the first game, it's still great to play. There was one mission in this game that wasn't in the previous demo I'd played, and it had all the final features like XP locked abilities (although several were unlocked already). The previous demo let me play with the zipline-hook gadget which this one didn't. Not sure how much bigger the fully unlocked overworld will be, but hopefully much because it felt like I'd seen it all pretty quickly.

The XP locked abilities will be annoying. Not having the tuck-jump or the 180 degree spin at the start felt unnecessarily limiting.

The user-generated content was everywhere, absolutely littered the map. Although it might've just felt like that because it was unlocked when all the other beta content had run out. Most of it was rubbish as well, players just start a little running route that goes around a corner and then stops. Could do with some kind of filter so that only well rated routes appear.

I did find the main mission to be bugged, which is a bit concerning.... If the beta only has one main mission and it's broken, what does that say for the full game? Basically I fell off the map at the end, when escaping the level, and when I respawned the map was pointing me back into the mission, wouldn't let me do anything else... but when I ran in, the checkpoints wouldn't update. Died again, and the mission basically reset, but then a lift half-way through the map couldn't be called. Not a promising sign.

Other than those things though it felt like Mirror's Edge, looked fantastic, the combat was satisfying and didn't have that annoying feeling that you would be cut to ribbons as soon as you got something wrong, like the first game. Still very much looking forward to the full thing :)

The XP unlocks put me off this so much... although I did love the first game so I probably will still pick this up.
