Mokong
Was giving the Demo another go today as I wanted to test out some more new weapons. Gave the Hunting Horn a go and surprisingly enjoyed it. It has a feel of a great sword with the blunt impact damage of a hammer and the "instrument" twist to it adds that nice extra uniquness to it. Though looking at the manual it seems there are only a few stat boosters that can provide....unless different horns can have different booster effects? If yes then I may looking into making the Horn my 2nd choice weapon after my Switch Axe Tried the Bow too.... not sure about it, seems a bit like a nerfed Bowgun and not sure what it does different/better to what the bowgun does. Wish the "equipment" screen worked on the demo as I'd love to be able to check out the stats on it (and the horn) so I can properly compare them to the weapons I am more familar with.... plus to see what kind of skills the armours in the demo have. david.dakota
Can someone explain to me how the gameplay datasync works? Is it automatic perhaps cloud based or is it a manual sync icon?

Thus the available combinations (boosts) also vary from weapon to weapon... Also, like you mentioned, it's weird that you cannot view the equip screen. You can't even know what armour skills each weapon has now : o

Wii
Just heard the news about MH3U. Brilliant stuff. I didn't want to but I think I'll have to seriously consider purchasing this game.
f00had
I'm not sure about voice chat but I do know that the original Wii game supported Wii Speak so at the very least you should be able to use that. Hopefully someone else will be able to answer your question better. Also good news for those who couldn't decide between the Wii U or 3DS version... There will be a patch released in April to allow off-screen play on the Wii U Game Pad as well as allowing American and European players to hunt together. http://www.nintendolife.com/news/2013/02/update_to_monster_hunter_3_ultimate_to_bring_off_tv_play_and_cross_region_online_multiplayer EDIT: Never mind I'm a big wally who can't read forums properly

dazzybee
Any headphones with a mic work, the free ones with an iPhone work for me. Also, I'm pretty sure they said it will work just through the gamepad mic too.... Though I may have dreamt that.

Ike
Btw, are you guys buying the disc or download version (Wii U)? I wonder how big the DL is... Worth noting the eShop released was also confirmed to be available on launch day in the US. Hoping it'll be the same for us as it would be a good game to have available on the Wii U at all times. Got the disk version preordered for now though, myself. Can someone explain to me how the gameplay datasync works? Is it automatic perhaps cloud based or is it a manual sync icon? It's manual I believe, for the Japanese version you needed to download an app on the 3DS to allow you to send the file. I assume the option is built in the Wii U version but I don't know. Also, I'm pretty sure they said it will work just through the gamepad mic too.... Though I may have dreamt that. As far as i was aware they had only confirmed that the mic on the gamepad would be the input method, im sure the WiiU headset will work just fine too but i couldnt see anything to support that. Regardless, everyone will be able to communicate using voice chat at its built right into the pad. Although im getting the cart for 3DS im seriously considering also buying the digital version at some point so i can always have it on me, now that saves are transferable between physical and digital games i have nothing to worry about on that side of things. khilafah
A statement from Nintendo reads: We can confirm that on March 22nd, the launch day of Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate for Wii U and Nintendo 3DS, an application named MONSTER HUNTER 3 ULTIMATE Packet Relay Tools for Nintendo 3DS will be made available as a free download on the Nintendo eShop on Wii U.This application allows players of Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate on Nintendo 3DS to play the game online by using a Wii U console connected to the Internet via the Wii LAN Adapter or Wii U LAN Adapter (to be sold separately). Using this set-up, one Nintendo 3DS system can connect to the Wii U console, and play Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate online with other players. Please note that while the Wii U console is providing this function for the Nintendo 3DS system, it is not possible to simultaneously use the Wii U console for playing Wii U software or to connect locally to another Nintendo 3DS system. A copy of Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate for Wii U is not required. http://nintendoeverything.com/114573/monster-hunter-3-ultimate-3ds-online-multiplayer-workaround-confirmed-for-european-launch/
Mokong
Seems like an awkward way to do it. Wonder why they even bothered given that it could impact sales of the Wii U version? Like if someone has the 3DS version already the main incentive would have been to get the WIi U version for online play....not anymore it seems. Though being able to the use the TV for display would be another factor. Still gonna be Wii U for me with 3DS a few weeks later if/when I need it when I'm going away for a weekend Still nice to see Capcom doing all these patches. From the adding of voice chat, adding off-screen play on teh GamePad, a patch to allow European & US hunters hunt together. And now adding online (albiet not natively and requires a Wii U) for the 3DS version. Who said this was gonna be a lazy port Looks like they are putting some serious work into it now. Makes me a bit hopefull they might have some extra surprises for Resident Evil: Revelations down the line...though that might be asking for too much :p

Mokong
Im a bit thick...so re voice chat. I can hear and talk to you guys through the mic on the gamepad? I wont need to get anything else? Yes hear from the Gamepad speakers and chat with the gamepad mic. Though I'd imagine using that might pick up a bit of echo similar to WiiSpeak. It'll be fine if it all you had but even if you do want to buy a proper headset if have a set of headphones from a phone that have a mic built in and uses a standard 3.5mm jack then that will work too. Before I got my headset I used my wifes headphones from her HTC which worked decent

Not sure if I will bother with Wii U version now though. I dont really need two versions of the same game if the 3DS version now has online play.. Even though it is a bit awkward! S.C.G
What gets me is the fact that you need to have your Wii U connected to the internet via a wired connection, which means buying another adapter, I suppose this was probably the only way they could get it to work but it still probably rules out a lot of people being able to take the 3DS version online - like myself - due to being too far away from the router. Still being that I was planning on getting the Wii U version anyway for online play it's not really much of a concern, I always just assumed that if I were to buy the 3DS version that I'd only be using it offline when away from home so that I could continue to level my hunter. dazzybee
Yeah. That's fine. But that has nothing to do with buying the wii u version does it?if you play away you get the 3ds version. I just don't think this news will take away from wii u, was my point.
