Is this guy a big deal in America? I remember Reggie was on there last year with Zelda SS. How'd you think he did anyway. Seemed like a fairly decent demo to the general public to me.

Very decent. What I liked is that they only had to spend a few seconds explaining that the "entire package" (console and controller) was the WiiU. A few seconds which explains that it isn't an add-on to the existing Wii, but that it's something new entirely.

Thought that it was very positive. The guy seemed like he was having fun and I was getting excited just watching it. I want ZombiU now. :heh:

Don't know who the target audience is of this show.

But showing off Nintendoland is probably going to do more damage than good if Nintendo want to get back the core audience.

A 5 second slot on the show would have done the job, had Reggie just gone on and uttered 2 words...

"Wii Sequel/Sucessor" (... look he even had a choice!)

Another missed opportunity to let America know exactly what the console is. This is painful!

Just call it the Wii 2 DAMMIT!!

(other than that a decent enough demo, and a very good enthusiatic host)

Well the host just says "Video Game System"... which to the casual audience watching could just be the thing with the screen and Wii U written on it for all they know.

... Especially as Reggie then refers to it as a 'Package'... which sounds like some kind of new bundle.

I just think considering America's biggest newspaper recently referred to the Wii U as an accessory, Reggie's job was to go on there and make everything 110% clearer.

Doesn't matter whether they made a meal out of it or not, the fact is it happened.

It happened, but this sort of thing happens with most new successor consoles.

Some people thought that the GBA was just a widescreen GBC (I saw this in person myself)

Some people thought that the DS was just a GBAsp with a second screen.

Some people thought that you could play PS2 games on a PS1 (Yes I've seen this happen, really!)

Didn't stop them from becoming huge successes. It's the kind of thing that happens early on in a console's life (usually with retailers lumping the new console games in with the predecessor's ones) and then passes over, with everyone forgetting that the confusion ever happened.

That actually worked better than the E3 press conference in my eyes. You need to have someone responding to what's been chucked at them (like how in films, to convey an emotion the camera always focuses on the reaction rather than the action itself so much).

Can't they get Jimmy Falon to do E3? It might end up a bit more like the Ubisoft conference but that was pretty good this year if a little embarrassing.

I've also seen people think the Xbox 360 was just a new model, and some other people thought "Game Boy Player" was a new Game Boy from the name alone (seriously, they sent out to buy it thinking this)

I haven't seen anybody think the Vita is a new PSP model, but I'm sure it's happening.

In a nutshell, people are making way too big a deal out of this. Just because IGN got mistaken once...

One of the main late night talk show hosts (alongside the likes of Conan and Jay Leno) and an SNL alum.

It's a decent bit of coverage and probably the most suitable one to choose. Although I'd like to see Craig Ferguson cover it too.
