Brian Mcoy Posted September 27, 2011 Posted September 27, 2011 Well played McCoy. I'm a bit gutted that I lost that game.. pretty much guessed all of your tactics! lol I'm happy to have scored 2 and only conceded 4 against the league 19 top division winner, though! :P Good game. It was a good match. Unfortunately the skill levels are a bit uneven so even when getting tactics almost spot on things will not always work out. Mcoy thinks playing 3-5-2 maybe left you a little too open.
MadDog Posted September 27, 2011 Posted September 27, 2011 Shit result today, suppose it's what you get for failing to play some friendlies for form preseason.
Fierce_LiNk Posted September 27, 2011 Posted September 27, 2011 I'm happy to stick with the Final 3. Even more happy about a fantastic win today. Bit gutted at a red card, but the rest of my team played well. Just had a quick glance through your team and noticed some stuff (feel free to ignore anything I say!). This game is all about long term development (today's 18 4 could easily be a 26 10 in eight seasons time, if they maintain high form and play lots of games). Your team needs more youth (you'll lose a lot at first, but long term you'll compete): GKs: Rik Maakay: 28 6 - Okay, but a bit old. Probably will never be more than a 6. Peter Dorland: 18 3 - Okay, but 18 4s are cheap so you'd be better picking up one of those from the market. You could get an 18 4 with cool as ice for less than 250k. I'd play Maakey for most of the time interspersed with your new 18 4 that you buy. Make sure you try and get the 18 4s dev value up to 16 at least. Do that for a couple of seasons and the 18 4 will take over as your main keeper as a 21 7. Defenders: Oscar Loeben: 29 7 - Okay for now. Good to keep your age balance up. Theo Golt: 29 3 - Dross, never play him. Sack as soon as you can. Unlikely to sell. Melvin Matthijs: 26 4 - Dross never play him. Sack as soon as you can. Unlikely to sell. Wim Dijk: 26 8 - Good. Play him every game. Marcel van Galen: 26 5 - Average. I wouldn't bother. Milan Zoetebier: 21 5 - Could be okay long term. You need to get yourself an 18 4 (or two) (I say 18 4 because they are relatively cheap but long term they can turn into good players) that you play as much as possible. With a back four I'd play Loeben, Dijk, Zoetebier and a new youth that you need to buy. Midfielders: Tim Hol: 28 7 - Decent and good for average age. Remco Janssen: 25 5 - Dross, never play him. Sack as soon as you can. Unlikely to sell. Daan Wielink: 24 8 - Great player. Nice special qualities too. Set him as your free kick taker until you can grow a decent one. Stijn van Velzen: 24 5 - Dross, never play him. Sack as soon as you can. Unlikely to sell. Leonard van Brakel: 23 6 - Average. Allan van N´wenhuyzen: 21 5 - Could be okay long term especially with his special quality. Buy an 18 4 (or two!). Play Hol, Wielink, van N´wenhuyzen and a new youth that you need to buy. Forwards: Thijs Feskens: 26 8 - Good player Ruud Stuy: 25 4 - Rubbish Marc Hermans: 24 6 - Okay Patric Barculo: 20 6 - Good player The outlook is good here because you have a good 26 8 and a good 20 6. They should be your front 2 nearly every game. You could buy a youth (16 2/17 3/18 4) that has goal instincts as a special quality. It makes a massive difference. Overall: One of the youths you buy (any position) should be a specialist freekick taker - it makes a difference. If you have the money buy a young forward with freekicks and goal instincts - it is an unholy combination. Think I've rambled enough. :p Cheers for that, Odders. Am I right in thinking that the first numbers are age and the second ones are skill? To be honest, this first season is just about me getting to grips with the game and how it works. I'm gonna maybe win one game, if I'm lucky.
Mr_Odwin Posted September 27, 2011 Posted September 27, 2011 Cheers for that, Odders. Am I right in thinking that the first numbers are age and the second ones are skill? DuD Posted September 27, 2011 Posted September 27, 2011 FLiNk finally gave in I didnt think todays game would be as close as it was against Emo Blades.. wish we'd netted tho. Im not really expecting anything this season, but hopefully i can get a decent squad together again. Good to be back playing
Fierce_LiNk Posted September 27, 2011 Posted September 27, 2011 Yeah, age then skill. Cheers, babe. FLiNk finally gave in Yeah, man. I was sick to death of closing my eyes and seeing Haden's MSN profile picture popping up and uttering those words "NEW XPERT SEASON, JOIN PLZZZZ." He powered me into submission.
jayseven Posted September 28, 2011 Posted September 28, 2011 First week for the hurricanes is annoying... Ell didn't play! Harshness. I choose the number 2, please big H!
Ellmeister Posted September 28, 2011 Posted September 28, 2011 Wow two picks. But we all know my luck with choosing numbers is appalling. Ill go for 1 and 3 please! I'm very surprised Eights united won, will be a tougher match than I thought next week.
The Peeps Posted September 28, 2011 Posted September 28, 2011 (edited) N-Euro Middle League - Round 1 A new season is upon us and the middle league has a healthy mix of teams, as is to be expected. Three teams have dropped from the Elite League and each will be wanting to return again at the end of the season. Three teams have been promoted from the Lower League and will be aiming to keep their place this season. And the remaining four teams will be looking to block the others at any given opportunity to make some room for themselves. ****Bubbles FC 1-1 Intergalictico Stars **** The first half of the game was a stand-off with neither team managing to score despite 2 chances from Intergalactico. Bubbles FC clearly found some inspiration during half time as it was only 6 minutes into the second half before they scored. An attritious 30 minutes took place before Intergalactio Stars finally scored an equaliser. The Stars were perhaps the better side with higher possession and more chances but Bubbles felt comfortable at home and were able to block most of the shots. The game ended at one all. ***** Aqui1a All Stars 2-4 Mcoys Sons **** Aqui1a proves his managerial talent by getting a 5 star rating in this game but Mcoys Sons broke through with the kind of exceptional gameplay you'd expect from a top-tier team. Mcoy broke the 37 minute silence with the first goal but it wasn't long before Aqui1a scored an equaliser. Mcoys Sons put two more in the net before All Stars could return fire. At 90 minutes the game looked decided but Mcoys Sons put one more away for good measure and ended with a respectable 2-4. **** Seahawks FC 0-1 Rising Phoenix *** Seahawks had a very tough time in their first game, failing to score at home despite 8 chances to Phoenix's 3. Rising Phoenix slipped through Seahawk's defences in the 62nd minute, scoring from a corner. Seahawks manager will be especially frustrated at this home loss as the tactics were sound but it appears the players were unable to keep up to them. *** Happenstance FC 4-2 AFC ReZs Rabies *** Happenstance suffered an early set back in this game after conceding a penalty to ReZs Rabies after just 17 minutes. However, they were quick to put right their mistakes and subsequently scored 3 goals of their own in quick succession. With the score 3-1 at half time, it was unlikely for ReZs Rabies to pull it back, especially after Happenstance scored once again to make it 4-1. But as the away fans sang the Symphony De Chartreuse, a tear was brought to Maximilliam Alm's eye who made it his mission to get just one more goal. Although Happenstance dominated, Rabies played a tough game and those 2 away goals will surely be appreciated later on in the season. The Sixty-Fourthers had better watch out next round as Rabies will be back at home with something to prove. *** The Sixty-Fourthers 3-0 Real Peeps **** An incredibly one-sided game and well deserved win for The Sixty-Fourthers. The game was decided at half time with all goals having already been scored. With only 1 chance in the match, Real Peeps may need to rethink their strategies as The Sixty-Fourthers walked all over them in this game. Most important Result: Bubbles FC 1-1 Intergalactico Stars, as the only lower league team not to lose this round, Bubbles FC clearly had the most important result as it puts them in a solid position early in the season, securely out of the relegation zone. Stylish Play: Happenstance FC, scoring 4 of 10 chances, 3 of them being in the first half of the game, Happenstance FC showed excellent teamwork and skill. Best Player: Wyatt Rufus, Mcoys Sons, Rufus shattered All Stars defence 3 times in this match, scoring Mcoys Sons first three goals and assisting in the fourth. Rightfully earning a place in this round's Xpert Eleven team and playing to four points above his own supposed skill level. Almost forgot to do this :p @gaggle64 @heroicjanitor @ReZourceman @Nikos9 @Aqui1a @Brian Mcoy @Happenstance Edited September 28, 2011 by The Peeps

Thanks Peeps that was great I especially loved this line haha Btw Dyson and Cube 4 or 5 are left for you to pick in the annual lets all laugh at El... lucky dip competition!
gaggle64 Posted September 28, 2011 Posted September 28, 2011 God it's so nice to read a match report involving the 64ers that doesn't feel like being stabbed for once.
Haden Posted September 28, 2011 Author Posted September 28, 2011 Dyson picked 4 via Steam Chat. So who won? Ell at last breaks the curse! Enjoy VIP
Ellmeister Posted September 28, 2011 Posted September 28, 2011 Thank you so much Finally after all those losses in the awards before I'm a VIP Thanks Haden!
heroicjanitor Posted September 28, 2011 Posted September 28, 2011 Awesome write-up Peeps Also Hurricanes have secured more glory! Congrats Ell. SPEECH SPEECH SPEECH. Most important Result: Bubbles FC 1-1 Intergalactico Stars, as the only lower league team not to lose this round, Bubbles FC clearly had the most important result as it puts them in a solid position early in the season, securely out of the relegation zone. Should read "As the only lower league team to be a lucky bastard..." :p
Ellmeister Posted September 28, 2011 Posted September 28, 2011 Er, that was my speech! :p And it should read "The only team in the middle league to take the fight to Intergalacticos Stars so far..." :p
Nikos9 Posted September 30, 2011 Posted September 30, 2011 Wooo, biggest win for many a season today, plus my 3 skill striker managed to bag a hattrick & an assist. On top of that I doubled my money on the pools as nobody else put a stake on, FREE MONEY!!!...saying that i did predict every result correctly so would have won anyway! :p
Tales Posted September 30, 2011 Posted September 30, 2011 That was unfair, my tactics were spot on, which is surprising as Essex Elites never stick to the same tactics. More stars too.
Rowan Posted September 30, 2011 Posted September 30, 2011 First half felt we played well and did not deserve to be 2-0 down. Second half we didn't build on the momentum that was gained with a comeback goal. Disappointed we didn't come away with anything.
heroicjanitor Posted September 30, 2011 Posted September 30, 2011 I picked the right formation and still lost... I need some strength in depth. My best striker got injured, some old eejit comes on who I never play and then it is all downhill from there. Doesn't look like this season will be a great one Does tightening the centre do well against varied attack? I wanted to ask yesterday but obviously couldn't give away my tactics. I was thinking it would because varied attack is wings, long shots and through balls. Tightening the centre would be good vs two of those, and if you have a defender who heads well possibly even good versus the third?
Tales Posted September 30, 2011 Posted September 30, 2011 If the opponent playes varied, tightening wings or center gives you neiter a advantage or disadvantage. I think. That's what I always assumed anyway.
