So they've changed the Crystarium in this one? Can you no longer upgrade each role individually? I'm not going to miss any skills or anything if I focus on certain roles?

Seriously were do you find the time to complete it so fast :P

I used work holidays to play it. :)

As for the Crystarium, nah you won't miss anything. You can actually advance each roles individually if you wish to do so. Regardless what role you level up, the more you level up, the more it will cost. So, say you start levelling Commando at 100AP, once you reach say level 60 it will cost 1000AP per level. If you then choose to switch to Ravager and level that up, your first Ravanger purchase will be 1000AP.

EDIT: Seems like FFXIII-2 has ended Fifa's reign at the top spot of the UK charts. :yay:

The story in this game is awe inspiring. It's like stream of consciousness fan fiction, its presence in a commercial product an impressive feat of incompetence. The nicest thing I can say about it is that it's made me realise XIII's storytelling actually wasn't the nadir.

Still, the game's pretty and the mechanics are, for the most part, good fun. Seriously though, S-E, stop fluffing the easy stuff. And if someone suggests adding a Mog-like character to future games, fire them.

You don't like Mog? I love the little guy^^

Finished the game yesterday. Think I got about 105+ fragments and two paradox endings. I'll wait for the Piggyback guide I bought for the rest, in the meantime I'll work on building my Twilight Odin and catching that Blue Chocobo as final members of my team. Also got Green Chocobo for the medic.

Same here. I think he is great!

After 62 hours I've finally got 1000/1000 achievments.

Broadcast Yourself
Audio

Some of the monsters took a bit of finding for a fragment piece and the Captain Quiz ( or whatever his name is ) pieces were a bit of a pain aswell. You are supposed to listen to what the NPC's are saying to get a clue to his whereabouts but most of the time they kept leading me in the wrong direction!

Another thing that was a pain in the butt were the clock puzzles. I kept getting so frustrated at the ones where you have a time limit, didn't help I was trying to do them at 1 in the morning. :)

Overall loved the game to bits and will probably do what I did last time and double dip and get the other console version aswell. Last time I bought FFXIII on the PS3 first and 360 second, this time I went the other way.

You're quick :p I'm at 52 hours or something and got roughly 50% of the trophies. Not sure about the fragments, just followed the guide from 100+ or something, maybe around 130 now.

Spent some time finding monster materials, some of them aren't easy to find, but I just got the encounter skills so hopefully it will be easier when I continue tomorrow.

Downloaded the dlc yesterday, haven't catched Lightning yet but she is going to be a mandatory member sharing spots with Twilight Odin/Blue Chocobo(despite being a ravager she is supposedly awesome as a commander)

I'm sorry, I can't see Mog as anything other than the nauseatingly 'cute' exposition device that he is. They could have easily replaced his functions with a more interesting, pivotal character rather than tick another box on the grand list of JRPG clichés.

Anyway, for the most part I think that XIII-2 is a good game. Mechanically speaking its better than its predecessor, although personally speaking I prefer proper party members to monsters. The combat's great and there's a lot more variety than XIII. The above is what saw me through to the credits, which brings us back to my earlier complaint.

The storytelling is awful. For a long time it doesn't seem to know where its headed. It glosses over a lot of the more complex issues with time travel, instead repeating the basic stuff slowly and loudly like an Englishman abroad. There's no mystery or intrigue behind the characters and I'm pretty sure half the dialogue was culled from fortune cookies. The worst part is that things started to pick up during the final stretch, then they go and throw in that ending.

Nothing annoys me more than wasted potential and XIII's universe is actually pretty interesting once you've sifted through the Datalog. I just hope Versus manages to bring the narrative up to par with its mechanics; having Kazushige Nojima on board gives me some reason to keep the faith.

I'm really looking forward to this. I loved Final Fantasy 13 and the whole universe. It was a great feeling when the whole Paradigm system clicked and you actually knew what you were doing. My only complaint was the it didn't open up until too late into the game but it was at least an attempt at them trying a new style.

Got platinum yesterday, after 73 hours. The secret ending was a bit disappointing for what you have to do. I liked some of the paradox endings better, particulary Sunseth Waterscape and 4XX Academia mostly because they were just hilarious.

For anyone who was wanting to get this at a cheaper price...

http://www.shopto.net/XBOX%20360/VIDEO%20GAMES/XB2FI22-Final%20Fantasy%20XIII%202.html

?24.85 on ShopTo! already... and typically it'd have to be when I'd just paid ?34.85 for it  still nevermind.

It might even be a mistake... proabbly not cut still if you want a cheap copy then I'd advise getting it now as the price will surely go back up once this load sells.

Finally completed the story (30 hours). Final boss was the toughest boss in the game, but only because of his potentially OHKO move, sometimes I didn't even see his count down start. Took a few tried and a change of part members and strategy.

Can't decide if I want to collect the rest of the fragments, though I currentlly have just over half of them (88/160).

To get all the achievements/trophies, does it require much monster raising? Can't really be bothered with it.

As long as you are still playing the game!

It was stupid of me to buy a custome for a game I platinumed >_>

One of the dlc has a battle with Lightning who will join your team if you get her crystal. She will act like a monster as the third battle member, and will be a ravager, although many people, including me, develop her as a commando(feed her power gems).

The Sazh dlc was boring and I never finished it.

I won't bother with the DLC then. Don't want to pay just for a battle and one team member.

About the monsters: Each monster has several attributes like "Late Bloomer", etc. Does it vary by monster type, or can one type have different attributes every time I tame one?

E.g. my "Hoplite" is an "Early Peaker". When I release him and tame another one can this monster have, let's say, "Late Bloomer" instead?
