-Dem0- Posted May 7, 2013 Posted May 7, 2013 Hm. Think I'm in the wrong thread. The title should be "Mike's Big Tease" :p
Magnus Posted May 7, 2013 Posted May 7, 2013 Okay, I can't be the only one who thinks that sounds like a porno.
Mike Posted May 7, 2013 Posted May 7, 2013 Okay, so I'm taking another break to report back on my progress. So far there seems to be quite a bit I can't do, mayor-wise. When I talk to Isabelle, she just tells me about the basic things, like how to use your shovel etc. I guess I'll be able to be the proper mayor tomorrow. I bought a shovel in Nookling's Junction (and found three fossils and a gem) and Isabelle gave me a rod, so I've been doing a lot of fishing. I've also been harvesting cherries, and planted some apples that Isabelle gave me. What else? Oh, I saved up enough to pay off my first debt to Nook, but his shop closed before I got a chance to give it to him, so it looks like I'll be in a tent for another day. This is who's in my town: Apple Rhonda Ankha Iggly Crackle
M_rock Posted May 8, 2013 Posted May 8, 2013 Haha I really hope you enjoy the game as much as you can Mike! I look forward to visiting your dream town :p
Mike Posted May 9, 2013 Posted May 9, 2013 Right, I'm back with some more updates! Sorry about the delay - just had to sort out a few NDAs with Nintendo. So far, I've spent a lot of time earning bells and fishing, plus a bit of bug hunting after getting my net today. I'm still trying to find a good list of which insects and fish should be available to me in May, so if anyone could link, I'd be grateful. I've just paid off my second lot of cash to Tom Nook, so a house expansion will be arriving tomorrow. Also got a 100% mayor approval rating today, which means I should be able to start community projects soon. No other big unlocks yet - I guess it'll take some time before I get Club LOL, the gardening shop, the dream suite and so on, but I kind of like that, as it'll give me something to strive for! I also spent ages today painstakingly recreating a photo of my cat to use as my town flag, which I got the pattern for with the pattern creation website someone else linked to. Anyway, here are a few photos!
M_rock Posted May 9, 2013 Posted May 9, 2013 aaaah I'm totally not jealous or anything The pattern you created looks amazing! And your avatar looks really cute! :p For anyone who has an Iphone / Ipad, there is this handy little app that automatically makes designs from any of your pictures, and transfers them to QR codes. So you can scan them on the 3DS. It's free and totally nifty: QR MyDesign assistant (it is not ipad enhanced, but you can just open it in "iphone mode" or whatever that is called)

Magnus Posted May 9, 2013 Posted May 9, 2013 Why would you put banana peels in front of your bed? That's an accident waiting to happen.
dazzybee Posted May 9, 2013 Posted May 9, 2013 Is the game same old same old, or does it feel like a fully fledged sequel... Just from your posts it sounds like a major case if de ja vu!
M_rock Posted May 11, 2013 Posted May 11, 2013 (edited) but but but but but everything you wanted is available in this game? Awesome streetpass (also includes patterns being swapped). Random wifi towns of strangers. Tons of new content. Customisable furniture. Town decorations. Some of the best multiplayer experiences..... Come on, in reality you are as excited for this game as I am I am just kidding and of course you are entitled to have your own opinion also yay I am now a regular :p Edited May 11, 2013 by M_rock
Mike Posted May 11, 2013 Posted May 11, 2013 Some more photos for everyone... As for it feeling like the old Animal Crossings, it can't be denied that the first few days have felt a little familiar, but I'm still having loads of fun and more new things are unlocking as the days go by, such as the island. The island's loads of fun, and there are so many more fish and insects to catch, plus it's where I got to try out swimming for the first time.
dazzybee Posted May 11, 2013 Posted May 11, 2013 But as someone who was bored by let's go to the city because it just felt like I'd done it twice before, will I feel the same or is there enough new stuff. I'm getting it anyway as its my free game from the offer, buti want to be excited about it

I think being handheld really makes a difference; but then I skipped City Folk anyway because I felt it wouldn't be as good. I wonder if it could have been any good as a Wii U/3DS tie in?
-Dem0- Posted May 11, 2013 Posted May 11, 2013 Damn Mike, those pictures paint a lovely story. Such a relaxing game! I guess I'm happy I skipped Animal Crossing Wii and I haven't touched Wild World since 2008/9 so I'm itching for this series once more.
Rummy Posted May 12, 2013 Posted May 12, 2013 I'm interested by the online implementatons and how easy/stable visiting is; but I'd assume that's not something you can get much of an idea for with a review copy. That aquarium area looks interesting...
dazzybee Posted May 12, 2013 Posted May 12, 2013 How much play did you get out of City Folk compared to Wild World? I think being handheld really makes a difference; but then I skipped City Folk anyway because I felt it wouldn't be as good. I wonder if it could have been any good as a Wii U/3DS tie in? Not even close. WIld World I played an insane amount, plus I lived with 3 other guys and we all had it, so that was a big factor. City Folk... I probably still put quite a bit of time in it, but it never really grabbed me. I like the designer shop in the city though so hope that's there. I'm getting it, my girlfriend is getting it so that will add to it I think, I just hope there's lots of new stuff and surprises for me.
Sheikah Posted May 12, 2013 Posted May 12, 2013 Soo yesterday I received my red 3DS XL and have claimed my free game (AC) when it hits. Although I got the first 3DS when it hit I lost interest so never really added any friends to my list. Anyone fancy adding me to their friend list in anticipation of this game releasing? Would be cool to play with you all.
-Dem0- Posted May 12, 2013 Posted May 12, 2013 I've added you mate, it's definitely going to be fun! By the way This will continue for another month.
Debug Mode Posted May 16, 2013 Posted May 16, 2013 Ooh some ones got a hold of the English version eh? Hit me up if you want to mess around a bit online Mike!
Mike Posted May 16, 2013 Posted May 16, 2013 Ooh some ones got a hold of the English version eh? Hit me up if you want to mess around a bit online Mike! Great, well have to meet up sometime over the weekend, if you're free! I've spent so long this week - over 5 hours at least - trying to catch a char, which only appears under the waterfall. It's bad enough that the position of my waterfall makes fishing there fairly tricky, but the fact that the char is so rare is making it beyond a joke! I wish I wasn't such an obsessive collector on Animal Crossing...
Kaepora_Gaebora Posted May 17, 2013 Posted May 17, 2013 Just got my first AC street pass puzzle piece...EXCITED!!
flameboy Posted May 23, 2013 Posted May 23, 2013 So the product page for this has properly appeared on the eshop now and it's listed as $34.99 which is actually $5 cheaper than most 1st party title, a pleasant surprise.
