heroicjanitor
Every single year they claim they are changing the world and just add a couple of new features, but dammit this time they mean it! The impact engine(a real-time physics engine! They usually just waffle on about ball physics) should make gameplay different, and they have a new vision system where xavi for example would see further quicker when he turns. The dribbling will be more precise so you can keep the ball in play on the wing, I hate how in Fifa 11 a defender can push you and for some reason you must knock the ball the direction he is pushing >:/ The game's producer David Rutter has been talking about what they are bringing to FIFA 12 and how it will revolutionise the series.Rutter began: "We are lucky that the quality of the series is such that we could go, "right, what do we need to do to take it to the next level?" The gameplay innovations are part and parcel of that. Having a real-time physics engine in FIFA is a significant step forward. Precision dribbling and tactical defending has totally changed the way the game plays. Which is the reason we are being quite audacious in the bold claim of revolutionising FIFA." He added: "We are rarely massively happy with what weve produced. But the fact we are showing the game in May, which we never do, has come about because we think we have quite a special year ahead." A simple but hugely handy feature that I ask for every year would be having two team sheets during the season mode. I don’t know if that is difficult, but having a reserve team sheet to switch to would be so much handier than manually switching all players every time you want to rest the first team. nekunando
I have an overwhelming feeling that FIFA 12 is gonna be rubbish, much like FIFA 11 was I've played the PES 2012 demo and it seems to hold plenty of promise this year. I have more hope for it this year than FIFA, that's for sure..
Ramar
The only concern I have for PES is that the online will still be shit and laggy. That's the only reason I switched from PES to FIFA10 and stuck with it ever since. One thing I'd love to see online is all player stats set the same, then it becomes about the person playing and not about picking Barcelona because their stats piss over everyone else's. That's a good idea in theory. Don't know if it would work in practice, though. Because there would be no incentive to choose any team. In that case, you may as well just have the option of choosing two teams, player one goes for one and player two goes for the other. (it does remind me of the times where I played an ex-housemate at Fifa10 on his 360 and we both went for Man United. We did that quite regularly. Completely destroyed him at one time, 4-0 before half-time, when he decided to rage quit) The opposite of that is, like you say, one team have far superior stats to the other. Maybe it could work in a game-mode where the stats are set to neutral, but not as the main mode. Hated 11. The PS3 version of it anyway. It just felt very dull to play. I'm hoping 12 has a little more flair to it.
Ramar
I'm not that impressed with the demo. I've only played the one game and didn't change any settings (as far as I'm aware). The crap penalty system is still in place and the game felt a bit slower. Players off the ball made fewer runs, however dribbling with the ball has improved. Fierce_LiNk
Ugh, that penalty system is awful. Also, slower!? Fuck that.
MadDog
It seems really sluggish to me aswell. The defending takes getting use to, but is miles better. Players acceleration actually seems to matter now. Before Messi would struggle to out run Carragher, it seems to be better now in that regard. You like PES 12 nando?! I think it's terrible. tapedeck
I thought the PES 2012 demo (1) was great. FIFA 11 had all kinds of great features expanded vastly but the actual gameplay was usually dire. If you play anyone it just ends up being a football ping-pong game in the middle of the park. It's completely shit at times. It felt like it needed bigger pitches at times to open up the play. I only liked the B A Pro in the end, although that became poor as you always seem to stand with your back to goal making Torres-alike play difficult. It's perhaps very European. PES seems more alike the Premier League in the fact that it is end to end, you can shoot from distance effectively (too effectively perhaps but I always liked screamers in PES/ISS games) and...it feels more fun. Sure FIFA has gone uber realistic but that's not always a good thing. I'm downloading the new demos for both PES and FIFA 12...will see what things are like. COuldn't people just pick their favourite team that way? I think as a mode/option its a great idea. Looking forward to downloading this when I get back. I loved 11 personally, took some getting used to but liked it. The penalty system is absolute bollocks though, what were they thinking? And what are they thinking keeping it in?! nekunando
For me, FIFA 11 was a travesty so I'm definitely not expecting much from FIFA 12, the demo of which I may get a chance to play tomorrow. All the footage I have seen of it, though, has not filled me with any confidence I've only played a couple of games of the PES 2012 demo against the CPU and the passing felt quite crisp (which certainly wasn't the case with last season's FIFA outing) and controlling each player feels less cumbersome than it has done in previous years. Obviously time will tell, but I envisage myself on Konami's side of the fence this year and, if neither satisfies, we'll continue with PES 6 on the PS2 like we have done for a while now I quite enjoyed FIFA 10 and then the World Cup game seemed to build upon the gameplay and was a pretty solid game. I'm not sure how they managed to mess it up so badly between then and FIFA 11 but they took all fun out of the game and turned it into a sluggish mess
Emerald Emblem
I found out I am shit at shooting in PES when I tried it in the local Gamestation, just couldn't get the hang of it and pretty sure the AI was set to easy and they scored. Though what stops me from getting PES is the fact I don't want to play as North London, call it splitting hairs but that's just how I feel about the lack of Team names. Murr
I am apparently terrible at the fifa 12 demo, played 3 games with Borussia Dortmund, Barcelona and Man City and lost every game, quite badly. on Intermediate.... I wasn't that shit at fifa 11.
nekunando
I have the FIFA 12 demo downloading now on my brother's PS3 so I should be playing it in a couple of hours time. I'll post later with hopefully good impressions of the game.. but probably bad ones
flameboy
Well just tried out the FIFA 12 demo now time to try out PES 2012. Will post comparing the two later. Suffice to say I mostly agree with peoples views on FIFA.
tapedeck
Oh dear...didn't enjoy the demo. The defending is just too difficult and you therefore get players sticking their legs out randomly all over the pitch. I do like the added "atmosphere" of it all but it just feels strange. Last FIFA I really enjoyed was the World Cup game. You also need to trick your way past everyone still. Why can't a little bit of change of pace take you past a man?! That's what PES offers and it's much more enjoyable. In FIFA you have to pass the ball around people which takes away the realism of taking someone on. This is a bit 'meh' and feels like FIFA 11.5 with slicker menus. PES continues to impress me though. Manual passing and no CPU assists and it is superb. Shame the keepers are a little guff but they are MUCH improved over PES 2011 (and the first demo for 12). Been reading a few forums and people seem to be back in the Konami camp. Sure, the teams will be dodgy but it's nothing a single downloadable option file wont fix. You can import PES '11 data which is nice as there's a lot of stuff out there already for official kits etc. You can also import chants/tracks/pictures for faces via USB. Nice. (Stadium editor is apparently looking great this year too) and I also think the AI is stunning compared to FIFA's...Play it on "top" player and you'll be destroyed. I always liked that about PES. I've lost games 7/8-0! Hmmm, difficult decision. PES seems to come out in 2 wks in Europe but 4wks in the UK/Ireland!! The wait will be difficult and FIFA will be looking at me with it's swanky licence! Edited September 15, 2011 by tapedeck
Ellmeister
The new demo seemed a bit sluggish as well, struggled to get the ball off the opposing team sometimes because the controls have changed slightly. Dribbling was better and scoring seemed harder but still doable. PES 11 didn't impress me at all. The defending aspects were atrocious and some of the dribbling was silly. I'll try the demo for the new one though and see how I feel about it.
nekunando
The best word I can probably use to describe the FIFA 12 demo is.. BORING It all feels so slow and lacklustre I had to laugh at all the advertising boards in the Premier League last year when "Football Perfection" came up to describe FIFA 11.. such a ridiculous and unfounded appraisal of last year's effort. The PES 2012 demo may not be perfect either, but it was considerably more fun and it would be the game I would go for this year if I had to choose. FIFA 12 lacks urgency.. Then again, i felt the same last year after playing the 11 demo, and i ended up buying that and i still play the manager mode to this day.

Ramar
One thing I don't understand is why they felt the need to change the standing/pressure tackle from A to X. Like tapedeck mentioned you get a lot of random leg flailing, like your back four just signed up for river dance. If I can be bothered I might download the PES2012 demo some time this weekend. Ellmeister
Oh the penalty system on PES is just utterly ridiculous. Hate hate hate it!
