Paj!
Everything you said has pretty much been around as long as pop/rock music has. Otherwise, she seems just completely controlled by her record company and has no individuality. Lol how? Other than the fact that she's changed tone a bit for her album (and she addresses that in a song on the actual album), I don't get where this comes from. She's one of the few up and coming successful female singers/rappers to have clearly carved their own path for YEARS before getting any sort of success. She's only had a big record company behind her very recently. You have to either be completely manufactured as an act these days to get backing from the music industry, or an artist that shows they do their own thing, and carve their own path.* Still I rise, Still I fight, Still I might crack a smile Keep my eyes on the prize, see my haters tell 'em hi One day you'll remember this One day when we reminisce Nothing I do ever is, good enough for the music bizz *note I'm not denying any influence signing to a major label has had on her or her music. Paj!
An update of what what Queen Minaj has been up to since this thread was last updated. She had her biggest hit so far with the summery Super Bass, originally not even on the album! It was a bonus track that she obviously thought had single potential so quickly shoved it onto later pressings of the album. She had a guest verse on Where Them Girls At with Guetta and Flo Rida: She's currently touring with Britney Spears but I hate that idea so I never think about it. She did however contribute to the vastly superior remix of Britney's song Till The World Ends (with Ke$ha). And her new single is Fly featuring Rihanna. Not my fave of hers, but possibly hit material. She also has a song to herself on David Guetta's new album which is v. catchy, and is mostly sung rather than rapped. Here ends the update on her life and times. If anyone cares.
Aneres11
How weird that i was browsing through my music collection and i put Nicki Minaj on, came into the general thread and saw a post on the lady herself! I really like her. She has 'sickening eyes'
MadDog
She's fucking brilliant. Where them girls at is pretty shit, until her part, then it's awesome.
Beast
I do like me some Nicki Minaj and the best part of Where Them Girls At is Minaj, the rest is rubbish. I like the Rihanna song with her in it as well and of course, Super Bass and Roman's Revenge are still favourites of mine.
Rummy
Absolutely love Super Bass and Your Love, her other stuff isn't quite so me though.
dan-likes-trees
Yeah, she's great. I love the videos too. I was watching Super Bass with a female friend, who said 'I feel pretty weird about this... it's like we're watching porn together' aha. Haven't really listened to the album, Spotifying now. Aneres11
Soo... Pink Friday Roman Reloaded leaked... I have listened, well am continually listening lol (I have a preorder in so I don't feel bad ha), and it's a strange feeling album. Up until a few weeks ago I thought this was just a repackaged Pink Friday with a couple of new tracks (as is the fashion these days ) but nooo - brand new album. For me, I think it should be 2 separate discs. As the first half of this album is the 'Roman' side - where Nicki basically turns into an absolute whore and raps about pissing on 'bitches', lots of 'pussy' and 'dick' talk etc. Great fun! The second half is her SuperBass / Starships side and for me it just does not feel like Nicki Minaj at all. It's still great, but it's a little generic. There's a massive dance influence on the second half (as is the trend) and it's pretty good, but it doesn't set her apart. In fact, a lot of the songs have a Gaga feel about them (possibly the red one influence?). As a whole i'm enjoying it but it is totally different ends of the scale. The first half is ALL rap, second half ALL singing. Be interesting to see what others think of it!
dan-likes-trees
Stuff! Thanks for posting that, get on the downloads before they're taken down AHEM prepare to buy the CD! I am really loving Champion, as Are always the best musical duet. 19 tracks! Get your money / downloadsworth eh. Will report back with my thoguhts when I've listened to it all. Also: Come on a Cone. Even more ridiculous than Stupid Hoe. Literally like a parody of That birthday cake song by Rihanna. Paj!
Buying it on Monday ugh. Ready. m' body is. I'm not expecting brilliance but I've heard fairly positive things (if not about the weird split-sound). She could've pulled a Beyonce and done 2 different short discs of two different sounds. But I think everyone knows CD's are dying so why not just slam it all on one? Lame.
