Beast Posted December 7, 2010 Posted December 7, 2010 One of the best proposals ever! ...why the hell did the random guy happen at the end??? However, just had to show this to you all because it put a smile on my face and I hope it does on yours!
Shorty Posted December 7, 2010 Posted December 7, 2010 That was extremely sweet. But Soulja Boy's DeAndre Way is IN STORES? That's everyone I know's Christmas sorted.
The Mad Monkey Posted December 7, 2010 Posted December 7, 2010 Sorry, but I think that's quite sad. Even if your girlfriend is a gamer too there are better ways to propose.
Cube Posted December 7, 2010 Posted December 7, 2010 Sorry, but I think that's quite sad.Even if your girlfriend is a gamer too there are better ways to propose. Like spelling it out in coins in Super Mario Bros.?
Wesley Posted December 7, 2010 Posted December 7, 2010 Sorry, but I think that's quite sad.Even if your girlfriend is a gamer too there are better ways to propose. Such as...? I think that's just as fine way as what other people do. I also think marriage is silly and so am not really fussed though.
The Mad Monkey Posted December 7, 2010 Posted December 7, 2010 Like spelling it out in coins in Super Mario Bros.? I was thinking something more conventional. Granted it is different, but what was the expenditure there. In my experience girls (and my girlfriend is a gamer too) are more appreciative the more money you spend. Mine might have liked that to my face, but secretly she'd have been pissed off I didn't do the whole grand gesture thing.
Aimless Posted December 7, 2010 Posted December 7, 2010 Even if your girlfriend is a gamer too there are better ways to propose. She said yes. As proposals go I'm pretty sure that's as good as it gets.
The Mad Monkey Posted December 7, 2010 Posted December 7, 2010 She said yes. As proposals go I'm pretty sure that's as good as it gets. For him yes.
Daft Posted December 7, 2010 Posted December 7, 2010 Takes a whole lot away that it was videoed and YouTubed. What happened to personal moments for God's sake?
Beast Posted December 7, 2010 Author Posted December 7, 2010 It shouldn't matter about how much money you spend, it's about showing how much you love the other person and how much you think about them and that they want to spend the rest of their lives together. Yeah, I'm a romantic, the ladies love it, lmfao.
Aimless Posted December 7, 2010 Posted December 7, 2010 For him yes. Proposals are more of a mutual moment; he wasn't presenting to a judging committee. Basically I think the following is a pretty dangerous attitude for myriad reasons: Granted it is different, but what was the expenditure there. In my experience girls (and my girlfriend is a gamer too) are more appreciative the more money you spend.
Shorty Posted December 7, 2010 Posted December 7, 2010 Granted it is different, but what was the expenditure there. In my experience girls (and my girlfriend is a gamer too) are more appreciative the more money you spend. This is very sad. I am glad this is not true in my relationship.
Eenuh Posted December 7, 2010 Posted December 7, 2010 What does money have to do with it? It's all about the moment, the atmosphere etc. Money shouldn't matter if the moment is right and you do it the right way. I myself wouldn't be happy if I got asked in some fancy place surrounded by lots of people I don't know (like in a restaurant or wherever). Too much pressure then. I prefer original ways, and this is definitely original.

This particular proposal certainly has that, plus originality. I do think it was a good proposal Good for them Now, who the hell was that dude with the CDs?
Jimbob Posted December 7, 2010 Posted December 7, 2010 That sure is a different way to propose marriage. Good for them. Wonder what would have happened if she said no?
Aimless Posted December 7, 2010 Posted December 7, 2010 Wonder what would have happened if she said no? He wouldn't have put it on YouTube. Unless he wanted to anonymously bad mouth her in the comments.
Oxigen_Waste Posted December 7, 2010 Posted December 7, 2010 What I don't get is... who gets all dressed up to play earthbound in the living room? That sure is a different way to propose marriage. Good for them. Wonder what would have happened if she said no?
Cube Posted December 7, 2010 Posted December 7, 2010 It also wouldn't be as embarrassing as in the middle of a very expensive restoration after a very expensive meal.
Shorty Posted December 7, 2010 Posted December 7, 2010 Agreed. In fact, you shouldn't even be having an expensive meal in the middle of a very expensive restoration. You might break something.
Cube Posted December 7, 2010 Posted December 7, 2010 Agreed. In fact, you shouldn't even be having an expensive meal in the middle of a very expensive restoration. You might break something. I have no idea how I managed to type that...
jayseven Posted December 7, 2010 Posted December 7, 2010 My girlfriend wouldn't take that kind of proposal seriously - but I think the point is that a proposal, if it is to be romantic, needs to be something special to that relationship. And I have to say that I kinda agree with Mad Monkey - girls do like the attention of gifts.
Aimless Posted December 7, 2010 Posted December 7, 2010 And I have to say that I kinda agree with Mad Monkey - girls do like the attention of gifts. Who doesn't like gifts? No one's refuting that, it's the direct correlation being drawn between money spent and happiness which is, shall we say, suspect.
Shorty Posted December 7, 2010 Posted December 7, 2010 It's worth pointing out that this girl mentions having been on starman.net (Earthbound fansite) since she was twelve. And they even play it from time to time, all these years later, without her getting suspicious that it means something. Earthbound is obviously something they have.
jayseven Posted December 7, 2010 Posted December 7, 2010 Who doesn't like gifts? No one's refuting that, it's the direct correlation being drawn between money spent and happiness which is, shall we say, suspect. I typed out "and boys do too. Heck, everyone likes gifts." then deleted it. Gifts are good when they're accurate. Accuracy requires understanding. Thus a gift is a display of your closeness to the person. But unfortunately a whole lotta gifts require mon-ay, and a whole lotta people's stuff they want is stuff they can't afford, otherwise they'd have it already. I'm not saying girls are shallow, nor am I saying that all girls will leave you if you never spend money on them. There are other ways to get happiness -- but the basic point Mad Monkey made, that girls like money being spent on them, is fair enough. And personally, I'm fairly content without money - but money buys comfort!
