Retro_Link Posted August 19, 2010 Posted August 19, 2010 (edited) http://www.sega.co.uk/games/sonic-free-riders/ Sonic is speeding onto Kinect™ for Xbox 360® in an action-packed experience unlike any other! Become your favourite character as you jump on your board and get ready to compete in exhilarating, adrenaline-fueled races against tough competition. For the first time use full-motion body control to twist and turn your way through a range of visually stunning courses. Hi–octane fun for ‘riders’ of all ages, Sonic Free Riders brings extreme fast-paced boarding action in a main event you won’t want to miss! Key Features: • Kinect controls – Turn, twist and jump, as you speed your way to the finish line! Use your whole body to take full control of a variety of hoverboards and bikes. • Easy to pick up and play – Fun for all ages! Compete with family and friends in single and multiplayer modes, each with their own unique race rules. • Customization - Customize your board and bike with unlockable gear and unlock upgrades to increase your speed, skills, and special abilities. • Unforgettable Characters – Race as Sonic, Tails, Dr. Eggman and more, including your personal Avatar! • Pick-ups & Weapons – Add even more excitement to each race with item pick-ups! Reach out and grab a variety of rockets, bowling balls, traps and more to knock your rivals off-course. Throw, shake, or swing to launch and give yourself the competitive edge. • Over-the-top Environments – Race through epic settings including sun-drenched resorts, deep winding canyons, glimmering waterfalls and majestic ancient ruins, each with their own unique traps and surprises around every corner. Why Sega continue this terrible racing series is beyond me! At least it controls well... :p Edited August 19, 2010 by Retro_Link
Aimless Posted August 19, 2010 Posted August 19, 2010 that looks....atrocious. Absolute shite. I was expecting greatness after seeing the prestigious Sonic branding.
Shorty Posted August 19, 2010 Posted August 19, 2010 Oh lawd. He spends literally the entire race just going straight forward, no obstacles, no turns, and when he does threaten to go near a wall, it just corrects him with a gentle push in the right direction. And I still can't believe there's nobody in Sega willing to listen to every single fan's collective outcry of "why, oh why does Sonic not just run?"
Cube Posted August 19, 2010 Posted August 19, 2010 And I still can't believe there's nobody in Sega willing to listen to every single fan's collective outcry of "why, oh why does Sonic not just run?" Because hoverboards are "KEWL!"
Emerald Emblem Posted August 19, 2010 Posted August 19, 2010 While people don't approve, it's certainly a leveller of the playing field. That said, only the first game was alright, I got a lot of hours from it. The gameplay video shows how badly SEGA have handled motion controls in this more active generation of consoles.
Dan_Dare Posted August 19, 2010 Posted August 19, 2010 While people don't approve, it's certainly a leveller of the playing field. What's that even supposed to mean? That the game is shit and so devoid of skill that anyone can play? Great!
Emerald Emblem Posted August 19, 2010 Posted August 19, 2010 I was thinking more in the sense of Sonics supposed top speed compared to a hoverboard.
jayseven Posted August 20, 2010 Posted August 20, 2010 ... I managed to watch approximately 7 seconds before I stopped spasming and put the video on infinite pause. Just another reason why I'm hate-raining on Kinect.
Shorty Posted August 20, 2010 Posted August 20, 2010 ... I managed to watch approximately 7 seconds before I stopped spasming and put the video on infinite pause.Having it on pause has the same amount of action as having it on play.
S.C.G Posted August 20, 2010 Posted August 20, 2010 Having it on pause has the same amount of action as having it on play. *bravely unpauses* Wow you're right! that was craptacular... Why Sega are wasting time with this and not pouring time and resources into making an F-Zero game for the Wii is beyond me... I know F-Zero GX criminally didn't sell a huge amount at the time but surely it would sell more now than this hollow and shameful spin-off series?
Dan_Dare Posted August 20, 2010 Posted August 20, 2010 BUT IT HAS SONIC IN AND SONIC IS COOL BECAUSE HE WEARS TRAINERS LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL
Cube Posted August 20, 2010 Posted August 20, 2010 Why Sega are wasting time with this and not pouring time and resources into making an F-Zero game for the Wii is beyond me... I know F-Zero GX criminally didn't sell a huge amount at the time but surely it would sell more now than this hollow and shameful spin-off series? They could make a new, amazing F-Zero game and put Sonic (just as a standard racer) in it to boost sales.
jayseven Posted August 21, 2010 Posted August 21, 2010 But you wouldn't be able to see sonic because he'd be loads smaller than the F-Zero crafts!
Retro_Link Posted August 21, 2010 Author Posted August 21, 2010 It's Sega... they'd put him in one! Or they could include Eggman racing in his metal flying globe thing.
