Aimless Posted August 17, 2010 Posted August 17, 2010 I like the teaser, it's well put together and far more reminiscent of the first game's atmosphere than the sequel's "ohh-rah!" militarism. I guess we'll see if the same can be said for the actual game come PAX. Incidentally the announcement on Twitter pegged the game for 2011, although it wasn't any more specific than that.
Cookyman Posted August 17, 2010 Posted August 17, 2010 Now thats a classy teaser - shows you bugger all of the game but very nicely done!
Aimless Posted August 17, 2010 Posted August 17, 2010 I also thought that thing in your signature was a cyclops but I guess it's actually a troll.
Cookyman Posted August 17, 2010 Posted August 17, 2010 Hey what's going on in here? The usual Halo bumwhiffery?
dwarf Posted August 17, 2010 Posted August 17, 2010 Oh god yes. I've been waiting for this for a while. YESSS!!!! I was wondering if I'd miss the coming of this rumoured announcement during my current holiday, but when I read the thread title I came buckets. It's material! Palpable! Almost anyway. Such a big fan of the series, it gets gunned down so much by idiots when it's actually very very awesome. Just seeing the familiar carbine and rossmoore sp put a smile on my face. The campaign in 1, whilst dragging a bit, was enjoyable and felt unique slightly. Not sure how to explain it but the brittle narrative and bleakness of it all made it it's own thing, plus the setting is great and the chimeras various forms leave potential for fright and winnity, like on of the battles in the original achieved when you had to step into the dark from the stairs when suddenly, inevitably, 2 hound like chimera come roaring. I agree with aimless, looks to be returning to the mystical roots of the first. I loved both of their multiplayers, nothing alike, but both distinctively resistance. The first one was gloriously arcadey and great because it was kinda unpolished, as was the whole game, but it was fulfillingly niche because of it. Loved the inclusion of the siren in the trailer, aargh so much I could spill without the same love being reflected from any of you guys! I know that insomniac will do fans like me a good job. That's a triumph for me because it means more Henry stillman and more Laark rockets into the face of noobs. Capelli as protagonist in this game? perhaps "it is beautiful"
Daft Posted August 17, 2010 Posted August 17, 2010 That was a sweet teaser. I wonder what they're going to do with the series. R2 went all epic. I preferred R1's grunt's view point.
dwarf Posted August 18, 2010 Posted August 18, 2010 I hope the online is supported and updated etc. I remember buying a map pack for R2 and after a week it wasn't possible to find games on them. I blame the integration and retroness of the menus.
Sheikah Posted August 18, 2010 Posted August 18, 2010 Hey what's going on in here? I'm starting to think that you've been hired by Sony to deliberately put as many people off this game as possible.
Dan_Dare Posted August 18, 2010 Posted August 18, 2010 That teaser is actually really cool. More than a slight hint of L4D or is that just me? I dig this trend for cinematic trailers etc that exist outside of the game proper. Not to sound like a broken record but the Halo ones for Halo 3, ODST and Reach have been excellent (Reach less so but myeh)
Daft Posted August 18, 2010 Posted August 18, 2010 Yeah, the lead up to Halo 3 was really well done. Classy stuff. Shame Halo: STD sucked balls.
dwarf Posted August 19, 2010 Posted August 19, 2010 I embrace trolling of many varieties, including Dare's efforts. Very much so. What I can't handle is the appearance of Zealot Meringue. Anyway, Res3 discussion peoples! What do you want to see improved? Audio !
Wesley Posted August 19, 2010 Posted August 19, 2010 I've never played Resistance... I think I might try and find a demo or whatever.
ReZourceman Posted August 22, 2010 Posted August 22, 2010 (edited) I also thought that thing in your signature was a cyclops but I guess it's actually a troll. Oh for.... Thats Allen the Alien. He fucking owns bitches. I tried finding a picture of it, but couldn't but at one point, him and his bud punch a dudes head in by each punching one side. Yeaaaah. Resistance is a very awesome series, I love all of them!!! Edited August 22, 2010 by ReZourceman
dwarf Posted August 22, 2010 Posted August 22, 2010 (edited) Resistance is a very awesome series, I love all of them!!! Oh I didn't know you were fan too! Yay! ---- As for the story in this, I think we will hear a lot more about 'The Cloven', in fact I am not certain they can kill off Hale like that. More likely for me, I think that he was turned into a Cloven at some point (a moment that didn't feature in the game, maybe Malikov slipped something into his Ice Tea or whatever), and that he didn't just succumb to the Sentinel virus thing. That explains the insane powers he has at the end of R2. So maybe we'll play as Capelli in order to hunt him down, or we play as Hale who, unlike other Cloven, has managed to retain his sanity somewhat and can use it to be awesomely strong etc. Edited August 22, 2010 by dwarf
LegoMan1031 Posted August 24, 2010 Posted August 24, 2010 Loved the teaser trailer! Does what it says on the tin really... teases! I hope the third is improved even more, as i have really enjoyed the games but i felt there was something not quite there for me to consider it amazing. Interested to see where the story goes considering how they ended the second one...
dwarf Posted September 12, 2010 Posted September 12, 2010 Given that this game is so cheekily mystical in its release schedule, I've taken it upon myself to buy Fall of Man. Even though I've never owned the game, I did borrow it for a very long time at one stage, and I've got a big itch that needs scratching. That itch is the campaign (but I guess the online also lulz) so I'm bidding on eBay. I remember the co-op campaign being very very enjoyable, and I'm just interested in seeing it all again and reminding myself of the differences between FoM and 2. Don't suppose anyone still has a copy?
Daft Posted September 12, 2010 Posted September 12, 2010 Resistance? Pfff... It's all about Halo, not this middle-of-the-road-ware. Yeah, I've got FoM.
dwarf Posted September 12, 2010 Posted September 12, 2010 Ah cool. Was just curious. It's all about the multiplayer ribbons and weapons-reel mate!
Daft Posted September 12, 2010 Posted September 12, 2010 I actually don't get Resistance. I enjoyed the co-op stuff in II, I loved being a medic, but it just seems so shoddy as a whole. The setting, the guns, the feel, the look. The campaign was okay but pretty forgettable.
Nintenchris Posted September 12, 2010 Posted September 12, 2010 (edited) *EDIT* whoops wrong thread *EDIT* Edited September 12, 2010 by Nintenchris

The setting, the guns, the feel, the look. The campaign was okay but pretty forgettable. Totally entitled to your bad opinion lolt. The lore, story and retroness for me make it so much more than what people are willing to take at face value. Plus the weapons and grenade types and actually very ambitious and interesting. Bungie has a lot more money to focus on the presentation to be fair. Yeah. Can I defend myself, finding I stand in the minority position and all, by just saying they're different games and leave it at that?
