killer kirby Posted November 19, 2010 Posted November 19, 2010 With all these positive reviews....i might juuuuuuust hire it
Shorty Posted November 19, 2010 Posted November 19, 2010 Ain't that a kick in the nuts to those of us who bought it release day. Still, there's no excuse not to snap it up now. It's a Sega game, you didn't expect the price to halve after a few weeks? Vanquish is also <£20.
Hero-of-Time Posted November 19, 2010 Posted November 19, 2010 It's a Sega game, you didn't expect the price to halve after a few weeks? Vanquish is also <£20. A few weeks, yes. A week after release day, certainly not.
Retro_Link Posted November 19, 2010 Posted November 19, 2010 A few weeks, yes. A week after release day, certainly not.Though this is just a special from Plays latest sale, it's not like it's a price drop across the board.
LegoMan1031 Posted November 19, 2010 Posted November 19, 2010 I was going to be getting this anyway (prob for xmas) but now seeing that price it's bought! Got other games i need to be playing yet as well! lol.
Captain Falcon Posted November 20, 2010 Posted November 20, 2010 At that price, I'm tempted to buy it again :p I bet you could get more than £18 trade in value for it still sealed. I'm not really botheres that I paid more that barely a week ago because I'm getting more than my moneys worth of entertainment from It. What bothers me is that people will only be picking it up now because it's cheap first and a great game second... instead of the other way round.
Ronnie Posted November 20, 2010 Posted November 20, 2010 Thanks for heads up, just ordered. Great price!
K-project Posted November 20, 2010 Posted November 20, 2010 What bothers me is that people will only be picking it up now because it's cheap first and a great game second... instead of the other way round. If it's any consolation, I was going to get it anyway. The Play price just got me off the fence. Though this is just a special from Plays latest sale, it's not like it's a price drop across the board. Yeah this seems to be true. You can't get it this cheap anywhere else.
Josh64 Posted November 23, 2010 Posted November 23, 2010 I love this game! This is the best Sonic game since SA2! I love the music, atmosphere but most importantly the actual gameplay itself! There are no terrible control issues or weird camera's, it all just works - and really well! Some of the level designs are amazing and I love Dr Eggmans random voice overs that play in the background every now and then. Highlight so far - ROCKET WISP!!
ShadowV7 Posted November 24, 2010 Posted November 24, 2010 I ended up missing the deal Play had on this ¬_¬ Had to go check I got my wages in and time I got round to checking Play to order this was back up. Curses!!
Retro_Link Posted November 29, 2010 Posted November 29, 2010 (edited) £17.93 at thehut.com Edited November 29, 2010 by Retro_Link
ReZourceman Posted November 29, 2010 Posted November 29, 2010 £17.99 on DS at Play for today only. Along with an Iron Man t-shirt for £7.99 and The Losers DVD/Blu Ray combi for £7.49. Claire gets paid tomorrow and is in the very rare case of her having no money because we made bloody brownies. I hate. Terrible day.
LostOverThere Posted November 29, 2010 Posted November 29, 2010 I ended up winning this, so it should come this week. I can't wait to see how it is.
ShadowV7 Posted November 29, 2010 Posted November 29, 2010 £17.93 at thehut.com And ordered this time! Looking forward to this.
The Mad Monkey Posted December 16, 2010 Posted December 16, 2010 I did vow never to buy another Sonic game after some of the turds Sega has pushed out with Sonics name on them, but with the positive reviews this has been getting I gave in and ordered it as a Xmas pressie for myself.
LostOverThere Posted December 21, 2010 Posted December 21, 2010 My copy finally arrived! It's so weird to see Sonic in a good game.
MindFreak Posted December 24, 2010 Posted December 24, 2010 Has anyone tried the DS-version? Just got it as a Christmas present (even though I wished for the Wii-version) but should I be happy with it or go swap it to the Wii-version?
S.C.G Posted December 24, 2010 Posted December 24, 2010 Has anyone tried the DS-version? Just got it as a Christmas present (even though I wished for the Wii-version) but should I be happy with it or go swap it to the Wii-version? If you only have time to play one version, make it the Wii.
The Mad Monkey Posted December 25, 2010 Posted December 25, 2010 Just finished off the first world, and I must say it's a lot of fun, the switching between 2D and 3D is nicely done, and they have the proportions of each just right. Just taking a break to recharge my Wiimote a bit before I get back to it. BTW, what is the wifi connection for, can't be bothered to look at the manual.
Captain Falcon Posted December 25, 2010 Posted December 25, 2010 WiFi is for uploading your scores/times to the online leaderboards. Not actually tried it myself though.
LostOverThere Posted December 25, 2010 Posted December 25, 2010 BTW, what is the wifi connection for, can't be bothered to look at the manual. Highscore boards. And yeah, this is a lot of fun. The music is a bit odd, you have the typical meh sounding computerised music and then there's this mind blowingly lovely fully orchestrated stuff. Surprisingly, the writing is actually pretty good too: "This amusement park has been constructed entirely out of a sense of remorse for my past transgressions and is in no way associated with any sort of evil plot or premeditated misdeeds." -Dr Eggman
Captain Falcon Posted December 25, 2010 Posted December 25, 2010 The writing is really good I thought. All the Eggman P.A. announcements are great. I like the ones on the main map most before you select which world to go into. I just have one more S Rank to go and then I have them all. Whenever I try it though, I always seem to be way off achieving It.
LostOverThere Posted December 26, 2010 Posted December 26, 2010 I just have one more S Rank to go and then I have them all. Whenever I try it though, I always seem to be way off achieving It. Ah, I only have a couple of A ranks! What's your strategy?
Captain Falcon Posted December 26, 2010 Posted December 26, 2010 Ah, I only have a couple of A ranks! What's your strategy? Being really good :p Seriously though, not getting hit so you have lots of rings helps. Each ring gives you 200 in the level and then 1000 points at the end if you still have it. Obviously going fast helps too. But also key is abusing wisps. They dole out shed loads of points. Like when using the drill, every couple of seconds, you get 4000 points or so just for being in that form. And It's more than the points you get for the quicker stage time by not bothering with them. On some levels, the only way to amass enough points for S is to use, say the spikes wisp, and just sit there whilst the power bar slowly drops. Now there Is a limit to that and if you look under the score, it will say in red writing about no time bonus and that's the bonus points for the time in wisp form and not, as I first thought, that you get no bonus points for time when you complete the stage. Red Rings also give 30,000 points each and that's another way to bag easy points.
