D_prOdigy
Who WILL win: Best Film - Avatar Best Director - Bigelow Best Actor - Jeff Bridges Best Actress - Sandra Bullock Best Sup. Actor - Waltz Best Sup. Actress - Mo'Nique (I don't dare predict any of the others. The foreign language award, for instance, is always some crazy batshit far-out choice.) But who SHOULD win is a matter for debate.

Cube
Hopefully either District 9, The Hurt Locker, Inglorious Basterds or Up gets the Best Picture. As long as some stupid CGI film with no plot, characters or common sense doesn't win (i.e. Avatar).
Haden
Can't believe A single man hasn't been nominated for art direction. Firth getting best actor isn't happening but would be classic.
Daft
The Oscars are a joke. Slumdog Millionaire winning 8? Farcical. I see less bias and inanity in the EuroVision Song Contest.
chairdriver
Who WILL win: Best Film - Avatar Bull. Can't believe A single man hasn't been nominated for art direction. Firth getting best actor isn't happening but would be classic. I really didn't think it was that good. If anything the colour filter thing was overdone and took away from the film. But yeah, it should have been nominated over Sherlocke Holmes. ---- Is Star Trek eligible for Oscar Nomination this year? Why hasn't it been nominated for more? It stunned. ---- And I question where Lars Von Trier's Antichrist is? Best film I've seen in the cinema in the past year.

(I like my tautologies) OH I'd agree it's not his best film. It's not even as good as titanic for instance but it's still very good. It's not Cameron's fault he is the master of making money, but it seems like it is the "thing" at the moment to make fun of it because it's popular. If I see ONE more pocohauntus comparison article for instance I'm not sure I can predict anything this year actually I haven't seen a lot of movies there but am I have seen up in the air. Did I miss something in that movie? I thought it was OK. Would have went mad if I actually saw it in the cinema though. oh and as good as up is Coroline is freaking awesome If you haven't seen it you gotta. Does tim burton better than Tim burton Edited March 7, 2010 by mcj metroid Automerged Doublepost

It's hard to believe that more people are having a go at this because of its popular rather than that its popularity is surreal and undeserved. Money talks and the Oscars are just another commercial machine.
Paj!
And I question where Lars Von Trier's Antichrist is? Best film I've seen in the cinema in the past year. Has Lars Von Trier ever got Oscar noms? DITD might've (since Bjork was famously at the Oscars, and she'd already one best actress at Cannes) Antichrist got hugely mixed reviews, but I think it should have been nommed for one of the art-based ones, at least. It's got stunning visuals.
Ashley
I'd enjoy it if Up won but the animation category is very strong this year. Although that being said I've not seen The Secret of Kells, I should track that down. But yeah, rubbish farce waste of time really. Although Baldwin (the successful Baldwin, Alec) is presenting this year
mcj metroid
thats a piss-take review. Without even watching it that guy rips the piss outta star wars and star trek first contact before and some other movies that are pretty good and his voice goes through my head. Think of him as zero puntuation of sci-fi movies. I don't think you could ever describe avatar as being not-very-good. It's so elitist. Most people love the movie. It's something you can sit down and enjoy and not think about too much. Like most of Cameron's movies to be honest especially true lies. I think it's a very good movie at least 8/10 worthy. it's probably not as good as district 9 for all it's accomplishments for a low budget but I still enjoy watching avatar more. I've heard complaints about avatar on the internet that I have never heard in real life.Ye're a creative bunch I'll give you that I'd probably give the best film to UP just to be controversial. welsh_gamer
Plan on watching Oscar winner Dances with Wolves tonight in anticipation As long as Up gets Best Animated Film and Original Score, and Basterds gets Best Supporting Actor and Original Screenplay it'll be a good night. I've yet to see The Hurt Locker or Distrct 9, which are on my 'to buy' list, and I don't really care for Avatar, and seeing I've missed it at the cinema in 3D, I doubt I'll bother to watch it on DVD, but then if it does win some awards tonight, it'll probably have a much publicized cinema re-release Ohhh, In the Loop is on BBC2 tonight aswell!
