Karl619 Posted January 19, 2010 Posted January 19, 2010 I'm sorry if posting a thread about this website is against forum rules. If it is then please delete this. Has anyone ever used this website before? It sounds way too good to be true. Basically you sign up ( which is free) and refer you're friends to the website. In exchange for these referrals you get free gifts. If I get 43 people to sign up I will receive a macbook pro! So.. has anyone ever used one of these network websites such as freebiejeebie and are they genuine or am I being taken for a fool? If they are indeed genuine I would very much appreciate people letting me refer them and then you can do the same. http://apple.freebiejeebies.co.uk/189492 Again, apologies if this thread breaks any forum rules but i am not intentionally advertising them, I just want to know if anyone knows how this works , if its genuine etc

Shino Posted January 19, 2010 Posted January 19, 2010 What stops people from creating 43 different accounts?
Karl619 Posted January 19, 2010 Author Posted January 19, 2010 I think they can detect that with IP addresses and what not. It does sound too good to be true but there has to be someone out there who has used it . Looking into it I can't find anything about it being fraudelent

Ashley Posted January 19, 2010 Posted January 19, 2010 If you want to live with your head in the clouds and believe that this isn't in some way a con, you're welcome to.
Wesley Posted January 19, 2010 Posted January 19, 2010 How can people not realise that this shit is... shit.
Caris Posted January 19, 2010 Posted January 19, 2010 I know someone who got a iPod Nano when they first came out from doing one of these.
Wesley Posted January 19, 2010 Posted January 19, 2010 I don't think anyone's denying that someone might have actually got some shit from this. But it's still a pyramid styled scheme and essentially is... lame.
Raining_again Posted January 19, 2010 Posted January 19, 2010 You sign up with whatever deal they want you to, then that company sells on your details, and they sell them on, etc. That's how the money is made. It's a con and you'd be stupid to even contemplate using that site. Nothing in life is ever free.

Karl619 Posted January 19, 2010 Author Posted January 19, 2010 ha ha on retrospect maybe I was gettin a tad naive and excited at the prospect of a free macbook
Ashley Posted January 19, 2010 Posted January 19, 2010 So shall we just delete this thread as it will probably just encourage others to sign away their privacy.
Shorty Posted January 19, 2010 Posted January 19, 2010 You don't just get 43 people to sign up, they all have to complete an offer too. And the number of offers tends to become limited the more people sign up, so not everyone can take an attractive free offer such as a Blockbuster 2 week trial. When these started, you typically only needed about 5 people to sign up. And you know what? I got a 20GB iPod classic through one of these. It was while I was at college so it was about 5 years ago now. That iPod was worth nearly £200. I don't want to go into too much detail but I uh... didn't exactly do it properly But they all run a tighter ship now, and there are so many different companies out there so who knows which ones even have a hint of trustworthiness. I have to say though, I never got spam as a result of it. But again, that probably comes down to it being in the early years of this particular pyramid scheme.
Cube Posted January 19, 2010 Posted January 19, 2010 Some of them make enough money from advertisers that they can do it legitimately. Some have wording in their small print which says they can sell on your details.
