Only ever heard 'the process of belief' from these guys, was ok at the time but pop punk aint my bag these days. gotta say the hover around a 5

on the other hand The Go! Team are superb.

bad religion pop punk?? you are so wrong there. they are real punk. do some research on them, see what they have done and then tell me they are pop punk.

anyhoo...

REM are a quality band, 9/10..

i'm currently listening to The Mars Volta

mm, perhaps i should have been clearer. punk, as i see it, is stuff like the sex pistols and this modern american skate/pop/whatever punk just aint it.

anyhoo, carry on. rate caris' linky poos.

I don't like The Smiths at all. Infact I hate anything to do with Morrisey.

2/10.

I'm listening to Weezer. (awaits comment about beverly hills, hash pipe or buddy holly)

Weezer are a good band, but I'm not into that type of music. I'll give them a 7.

I'm listening to U2 at the moment.

6/10 they have some good tunes but the whole indie scene has gotten derivative with so many similar-sounding bands during 2005.

cocorosie

my favourite band ever!

edit - my comment was intended for maximo park, but it's pretty relevant to the subways too

Pah! perhaps you are right but personally i dont think any new band sounds the same except kaiser chiefs trying to be Blur. Go see such bands live and your comments will change. 2005 has been a good year for indie rock n roll.

Sorry ^^;; Anyways, I listenedto that, thanks for pointing it out, listened to the Good friday sample and first thought it was a litle weird, not something i've heard before but it got good, a 6 for them, I may have to fid something by them. (bit of a o0;; at the sound that sounds like someone brushing their teeth)

Current band obsession? Dunno if this will cont but at the minute i'm loving

Trans Siberian Orchastra F'ing amazing pieces of Music, Who can say no roc versions of christmas classics (and Bethoven). Christmas Eve Sarajevo is one I can't stop listening to

Never heard of cocorosie, but thesite looks alright can't see alink for any samples though so a 5 ^^

look again, there's a sample there.

edit - next to good friday there's a music note. there's not much point posting in this thread if you're not going to listen to the music you're rating, silly.

edit again - fair enough platty if you think so, but i felt a buzz from franz ferdinand, interpol, the libertines and bloc party. to me bands like maximo park, hard-fi and the subways sound like they're trying to jump on a bandwagon, and even if their songs are technically good i feel like ive heard it all before.

Personally I think Maximo park are a real cut above the rest as far as the crop of 2005 goes. I think their lyrics really have that certain thing that elevates them above the other bands. Kinda how I feel about The Smiths and my homegrown favourites, Pulp. they also feel more varied than, say, bloc party.

anyway, im diggin on Ben Folds right now. damn im good to you lot.

Blink 182 - 10/10

grew up listening to them and oasis through the mid to late 90's when everyone at school and college was jumping on the jungle is massive bandwagon. (couldnt have picked 2 more different bands to love eh?)

how about we are scientists ? (sorry dont have a link)

Really not a fan of pop punk, nor the vocalist's whiny voice. I give Blink a fantastic 4/10.

And to keep with the punk rock theme, The Clash.

Crap, Platty posted. Can't say I have heard of the Scientists. Rate Platty's if you know them.

The Clash. 6/10. Though I'm basing this mainly on London Calling. A pretty good album, but is it that good? They're alright I suppose.

The band I'm constantly obsessed about and therefore I'll put down is The Eagles.
