First Impressions of Earth - The Strokes (new CD)
dukkadukka replied to Dan_Dare's topic in General Chit Chat
first three songs are brilliant, next five are very good, next six are nothing special. not quite the return to form i was hoping for but there are some great songs on there, hopefully they'll stick around long enough to make the great album that i know they can. -
happy birthday hun! i hope your birthday is so good that you don't even think of visiting here

chantele to win! all the others seem mentally unstable, especially barrymore, he's just a shadow of a man. he really should have sorted his demons before going under such intense scrutiny, i really feel sorry for him.
-
oh my god that was sick! i love it! keep up the good work hun

i like the idea of putting a non-celebrity in amongst the amost-celebrities, but to be honest there's no one i instantly like in there. i'm hoping jackie stallone will just appear in the sauna one afternoon or something, she's the best thing that ever happeed to big brother. i do wish they had someone genuinely intelligent like germaine greer in again, as opposed to jodie "i wrote a book,, take me seriously!" marsh who pissed me off before even leaving the limo.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk_politics/4582930.stm seems the leader of the lib dems likes a bit of tipple. i know i shouldn't, but i find this hilarious.

anyone else think the "g" in urge looks a bit too similar to the quicktime logo?

subliminal message to faz: change the sig, my eyes are sore.

can we have an award ceremony type thing so we can all vote for our favourite posters, mods and threads of 2005? nothing too serious but just a bit of fun.

that sony television one with the bouncy balls is beautiful, and the song is called "heartbeats" and it's by a man called jose gonzales if anyone else wanted to download it. in casethere are any other songs in adverts you'd like to download, you can probably find out what it's called at http://www.commercialbreaksandbeats.co.uk/index.asp

pretty stunning, although visually it's really similar to epic's other game gears of war. stocka - loving the new sig! shenmue rox my sox

erm, i've never visited that website before in my life, are you sure i can trust it? two minutes on google and you can find websites which believe the console will be released in 2005

ooh, can i be the faux-cripple?

i seem to be in the minority here, but i still really enjoy posting here. the only thing that bugs me is people whining about the "good old days".

it's that time of year again... name your five favourite albums this of 2005; and aswell as that an "unearthed gem", an album over 10 years old that you've only just discovered this year. here's my selection(in no particular order) CoCoRosie - Noah's Ark their second album in as many years, i just can't stop listening to it. if you like experimental music, especially along the lines of devendra banhart and joanna newsom, you should definitely get this. Girls Aloud - Chemistry this is the most "pop" album i have ever listened to, and yet it references more genres and periods of music than any indie band i've heard this year. i know it's easy to look down your nose at them, but you're missing out if you do. Sufjan Stevens - Illinois i have to say this album just floored me. in 2005, an all-american christian is the last person i'd expect to come out with one of the most tender and forward-thinking albums in years, but he did. more than anyone else on my list, i would recommend sufjan stevens to anyone and everyone. Diane Cluck - Oh Vanille incredibly pure-sounding folk music, she has the most striking voice i've ever heard. a brilliant songwriter, her music has soul. MIA - Arular i really don't know what to say about this album, it's just a mish-mash of styles. if you like the go! team, annie or gwen stefani you'll love this album. UNEARTHED GEM Patti Smith - Horses I've only started listening to it in the past month, but it's just phenomenal. Pretty much any woman in indie today can be traced back to this album. everyone should have this in their collection, it's genius. p.s) please give explanations for your choices too

should be fun i actually enjoy the celebrity series' more, i lose interest in the longer series. and judging by last year, the celebrities picked are now just as grotesque as the wannabes.
-
that album was average at best, that's probably why no one's mentioned it. i haven't lost faith in dangermouse quite yet though, his gnarls barkley project with cee-lo should be one of the biggest records of 2006.
-
animal collective - feels i've had this album for a couple of months now, an i've been listening to it passively, but this morning it's really clicked with me that i love it. seriously i suggest that you all buy it and listen to it until your ears bleed, it's that good.

i used to be a bit of a slag until i realised that making love is much more enjoyable than shagging.
-
aah, "keeping it real", one of my favourite phrases of the ghetto people. i'm still unsure why being poor makes someone more real though. haver- i was watching, and loving it! if only they'd scrap the ballads, they'd be pop perfection

Whats everyone most looking forward to next year?
dukkadukka replied to KKOB's topic in General Chit Chat
same here, i can't wait! scissor sisters are the best thing to have happened to pop music in ages. -
chocolate now, tukey later. then hitting the vodka when grandma arrives, it's the only way i can cope.
