Emasher Posted August 20, 2009 Posted August 20, 2009 I think they said it was a bit longer during E3, in terms of number of levels anyway. I actually liked the graphic style of new super mario bros, the only thing was the colour pallet felt just a tad washed out. In terms of difficulty, don't expect much, this game will obviously be insanely easy compared to the old school Mario games, and probably a bit easier than NSMBDS. The have to make sure that the casual crowd can still play it.
Zechs Merquise Posted August 20, 2009 Posted August 20, 2009 But the real question is... will it outsell Galaxy???
Emasher Posted August 20, 2009 Posted August 20, 2009 But the real question is... will it outsell Galaxy??? The first NSMB is nearing 20 Million now, I think it'll probably come close at least, seeing as the Wii's user base is about half that of the DS's. I don't expect Mario Galaxy 2 to do as well as the first, so I think it will easily outsell 2.
Shino Posted August 20, 2009 Posted August 20, 2009 Much like with Zelda 4 Swords, people with 4 friends you "get it" and greatly enjoy it, everyone else will bitch about something.
Goron_3 Posted August 20, 2009 Posted August 20, 2009 Much like with Zelda 4 Swords, people with 4 friends you "get it" and greatly enjoy it, everyone else will bitch about something. Well Four Swords is fucking brilliant, I certainly loved it. It's different for this game because nowadays, having this online is kind of expected. Also, 4 Swords looks absolutely gorgeous and has an amazing soundtrack (the level where you infiltrate Hyrule Castle is just amazingly brilliant), whereas this game looks like a DS game blown up with the original DS music still there.
Hero-of-Time Posted August 20, 2009 Posted August 20, 2009 Well Four Swords is fucking brilliant, I certainly loved it. It's different for this game because nowadays, having this online is kind of expected. Exactly. I played Four Swords by myself on the Cube, loved every second of it.
daftada Posted August 20, 2009 Posted August 20, 2009 I'm hoping Nintendo won't be afraid to make this a tough game, seeing as they have demo play in it there's no reason to make it easy just for the sake of new players.
Ren of Heavens Posted September 1, 2009 Posted September 1, 2009 It's September, but where's the hype for the first 2D platform game starring Mario on a home console since Super Mario World? Isn't it supposed to be out in Q4? No news since E3...
Tellyn Posted September 1, 2009 Posted September 1, 2009 Out in November, according to the latest from an American retailer conference.
Mike Posted September 18, 2009 Posted September 18, 2009 US boxart: Looks like something I could've done in ten minutes given the right artwork files... Hopefully we'll get something better in Europe.
R1kk1 Posted September 18, 2009 Posted September 18, 2009 US boxart: Looks like something I could've done in ten minutes given the right artwork files... Hopefully we'll get something better in Europe. Seriously? O.o I saw that but thought it was a fan-made box cover.
LostOverThere Posted September 19, 2009 Posted September 19, 2009 Hmm. The massive space of red leaves a lot to be desired. That being said, this thing will sell like bacon so I doubt box art will really change people's perception on this one.
MrRon Posted September 19, 2009 Posted September 19, 2009 This is hardly a work of great beauty, but it pretty much communicates the feel of the game. So, in that respect, it could be considered a success.
R1kk1 Posted September 19, 2009 Posted September 19, 2009 It's the huge block of red that makes it look really bad... When you compare this to Brawl's cover or something, it's pretty lame. Saying that though, Mario Karts Cover didn't really leave any huge impressions.
Ronnie Posted September 19, 2009 Posted September 19, 2009 (edited) Mario Kart Wii's cover art was godawful. The massive block of red is pretty bad here, couldn't they make it a tad smaller? In fact it's the "Up to 4 players" part that makes it look even worse. ________ Adrian van hooydonk Edited February 17, 2011 by Ronnie
tapedeck Posted September 19, 2009 Posted September 19, 2009 US boxart: Perhaps the Mushroom Kingdom has suffered a volcanic explosion? All those clouds of ash and that lava... Looks poor but will probably look better hands-on.
Hero-of-Time Posted September 23, 2009 Posted September 23, 2009 Could this be the magic day for us? Earlier today, we showed you an Amazon preorder update that listed a delivery date of Nov. 18th for New Super Mario Bros. Wii. Now we're hearing that the North American date is going to be on November 15th, which would fit well with the Amazon delivery date. On top of that, news of a November 27th release date in Europe is also floating around. Too bad Nintendo of America/Europe won't comment to confirm! I hope it is as I have 2 weeks off work around then!
darksnowman Posted September 23, 2009 Posted September 23, 2009 As long as its out before Christmas as I'll probs get it as a present.
Zechs Merquise Posted September 23, 2009 Posted September 23, 2009 It's the huge block of red that makes it look really bad... When you compare this to Brawl's cover or something, it's pretty lame. Saying that though, Mario Karts Cover didn't really leave any huge impressions. Yes, but that huge block of red will draw people's eyes to it on the shelves. The cover is there to convey the fun and 'classic' Mario gameplay as well as draw the eye. This, whilst winning no awards for design, will do exactly what Nintendo want it to: sell the game to casual players who loved classic Mario and the DS version of NSMB.
Ronnie Posted September 23, 2009 Posted September 23, 2009 (edited) Personally I'd have prefered Galaxy 2 this Christmas, but who knows how much of that game is finished. I take it this New Super Mario Bros Wii will be a fully fledged single player game, ie. doesn't have to be multi-player. Not a fan of these types of multiplayer games so hopefully the 1 player mode will be just as good. ________ VAPORIZERS Edited February 17, 2011 by Ronnie
Ren of Heavens Posted September 23, 2009 Posted September 23, 2009 Looking more forward to this than SMG2. I've always prefered Mario in 2D.
Josh64 Posted September 23, 2009 Posted September 23, 2009 Would much prefer Super Mario Galaxy 2 this christmas. In fact, I'm really not hyped at all about NSMB, I wasn't that taken with the DS one. This could be one of the first Mario games I don't bother getting.
