It must be just me, I chomp on rock pr0 style. It does get stuck in my teeth but doesn't hamper my speech at all.

Cos you got pr0 man jaws, little lady jaws struggle like crocodiles, or something. I feel sadthings though, I do not/have not worked in an office sort of situation(though I spent time in the nursing office at work) and so I have no hilarious pranks(plus our phones are cordless). The disconnect thing Odwin posted is geniusly simple, I love it.

More an impromptu assualt than a prank, but one time we got a reel of sticky tape plus an individual as a 'taper', an unsuspecting victim in a wheelie chair, and an accomplice to act as spinner. I'm sure you see the potential hilarity for things.

I still don't get the mechanics of the phones he has. The cable can be disconnected but won't work when disconnected because the phone will still be ringing when picked up. Does the phone have a switch or something set to cord/less?

I don't get it either. Surely if the phone cable is disconnected then the phone won't ring? Unless it's the cable going from the handset to the bit with the buttons.

That's the cable he means. But as he says it can be detached at both ends, in effect making it a cordless phone. Which would respond if picked up and not keep ringing as the prank implies. Thus the switch question.

Or is it just used to replace the handset? And not actually work as a cordless.

EDIT: And you know what, I've just realised his prank actually worked the other way round to make it keep ringing. Which leaves me throroughly confused as to how it DOES work, too. I imagined it more to just be a hilarious way to mock your mates. I'm gonna try it with my own phone...right now!

You guys never seen a corded phone? The cord goes into the handset one end, and the phoneset the other end. However, if I asked you how you answer/hang up a corded phone, I'm sure you'd all be able to answer, and I'm sure you've all before done the classic quick hangup. So basically, if you DID disconnect the cord, from either, or both, ends, it's completely got no effect on whether or not the phone base keeps ringing(which always does the ringing in corded phones, unless I'm very gravely mistaken).

There is a button on the phoneset that hangs up when pressed and answers when released. That doesn't explain why detaching the phone would prevent it from answering.

Goddamn you Viper! I was hoping to hide my stupidity and ignorance from the world! But yes, on a corded phone with buttons on the actual phone and not the baseset, it'd work, cos it needs the signal of the button press to answer, which it won't get if it's disconnected?

Second is the invincible folder. Create a folder on the desktop, like my hardcore porn or something. Print the screen and drop it in paint. Then delete the folder you just created and in paint set the pasted screen as the desktop background, lots of fun.

My brother did this at Uni, making a folder saying "Child Porn".

Every friend got away from him until my brother admitted it was a joke.

Bit over the top don't you think? Accusing someone of being a paedophile isn't something most people take lightly and could have serious effects on someone's reputation. Think that's taking it a bit too far myself.

It depends who your with, you have to know the people your joking with.

Like my friends wouldnt take it seriously, but some people would get deeply offended.

For sure. I do too, with my close friends. But if someone did that to me I'd still be pissed off. I joke about it with friends, but I'd never make it appear that one of my friends was a paedophile even if it was a practical joke, knowing how much it could seriously damage someone's reputation, true or false.

It shouldt bother you in the slightst, and if those friends believed this then they wouldnt really know you enough to be cosidered a friend.

I don't think anyone's stupid enough to think that someone would put a folder full of child porn called "child porn" on their desktop. Its the sort of thing everyone just assumes is a joke.

Well, I think its kinda exaggerated too, but its just so damn funny :D

Besides, my brother told all of those who saw his deskpot that it was a joke, I can't see why it would take the reputation even after admitting.
