chairdriver Posted December 2, 2008 Posted December 2, 2008 Everybody's saying the same thing: "Use Somebody is good, but I'm voting Hallelujah." I just know that if the draw had been different: Say that Use Somebody was drawn against that Poker Face song, and Hallelujah was up against the Avril Lavigne one. Poker Face and that Avril Lavigne song would have been absolutely trounced. This makes me a sad panda. Yeah, but neither Avril Lavigne nor KOL stand a chance of winning (IMO), so *shrugs shoulders*
Roostophe Posted December 2, 2008 Posted December 2, 2008 Yeah, but neither Avril Lavigne nor KOL stand a chance of winning (IMO), so *shrugs shoulders* IYO, obvs. I feel it's a proper shame, as Use Somebody is a great song. Can't get enough of it at the moment. I now hope that amends are to be made when Hallelujah is drawn up against a naff song in the next round, and trounces that one.
Dyson Posted December 2, 2008 Posted December 2, 2008 Don't worry; I can see Hallelujah easily being the winner of the contest here. Unless Paj accepts my late submission, in which case I'm actually at a loss of which I'd have to vote for.
EchoDesiato Posted December 2, 2008 Posted December 2, 2008 It's a bit of cliché song, but still a really good one. Jeff Buckley with Hallelujah gets my vote.
chairdriver Posted December 2, 2008 Posted December 2, 2008 Don't worry; I can see Hallelujah easily being the winner of the contest here. Feels cliche, and it would make the whole competition feel really pointless if it were to win, but yes, it's one of the few songs that when I look down the list of songs I feel it will go far. I need an unusual song that you could actually remark upon to win. Like, I'd drop everything I was holding and start clapping if the Chu Chu song were to win. Like, it would actually make my week if Call It Off won.
Mr_Odwin Posted December 3, 2008 Posted December 3, 2008 I prefer the Kings of Leon track so that gets my vote. I just don't like Hallelujah that much, it goes on for too long (and the version on Shrek is better, whoever sings that).
Cube Posted December 3, 2008 Posted December 3, 2008 I just don't like Hallelujah that much, it goes on for too long (and the version on Shrek is better, whoever sings that). John Cale. I also prefer that version.

DomJcg Posted December 3, 2008 Posted December 3, 2008 I know i'm not in this or whatever (great idea though paj, i'm listening to polysics again) but Lenord Cohens song of hallelujah is the best hands down.

I now hope that amends are to be made when Hallelujah is drawn up against a naff song in the next round, and trounces that one. I know exactly how you feel Villain...I mean some of the matches have artists which in my head I know are amazing (and general music criticism know are good), but I also KNOW will lose to the much more popular artist they're going against. Of course it'll be a crime against everything I stand for, but then it was ALL randomised... ----- Hallelujah - Dominating Use Somebody - Not
Ganepark32 Posted December 3, 2008 Posted December 3, 2008 ^ guess it's lucky that Don't Stop Believin' wasn't put in otherwise that'd be worse than Hallelujah's dominance.
Dyson Posted December 3, 2008 Posted December 3, 2008 The Rufus Wainwright version?? Urgh. Jeff all the way. Yes indeed.
Twozzok Posted December 3, 2008 Posted December 3, 2008 Hallelujah - No point spouting the same reasons, but while the Kings of Leon song was alright, it wasn't Hallelujah.
MoogleViper Posted December 3, 2008 Posted December 3, 2008 No point spouting the same reasons, but while the Kings of Leon song was alright, it wasn't Hallelujah. If there's no point then why did you do it?
rokhed00 Posted December 3, 2008 Posted December 3, 2008 Too many dreary songs in this competition, Kings of Leon gets my vote.
ReZourceman Posted December 4, 2008 Posted December 4, 2008 this is now closed. No it isn't lolololol.
Paj! Posted December 4, 2008 Author Posted December 4, 2008 I don't know how to close threads. You rude one you.
